Unit 4 Where is my backpack?

I. Teaching Objectives

By the end of this lesson, students should be able to

1. Describe the location of things around them. Ss may apply them in the real communication. Improve their listening ability as well.

2. Understand and use some nouns about furniture as table, dresser, sofa, chair; Daily use things as plant, CD, alarm clock, video tape; Some prepositions of place on, in, under.

3. Have interests and the desire of learning English, and happy to participate in various English practices. Ss can help each other in groups and cooperate actively with others.

II. Teaching Important/Difficult Points

1. Teaching Important Points

The sentence pattern: Where is /are …. ? It is / They are on/in…

Is / Are the … in/on/under …?

2. Teaching Difficult Points

1). Describe the location of things on them own.

2). Understand the tape.

chalks, cards, blackboard, pictures.

V. Teaching Procedure

Step 1 Greetings and review(6 mins)

Use the cards to review the important content of Section A, such as the words, the prepositions and sentence patterns, “Where is /are ….?”, “It is / They are …”.

Step 2 Pre-listening (8 mins )

After finishing the review, lead them to the section B 1a .Ask them where is the xx and let them match the words with the things in the picture.

Step 3While listening.( 18 mins)

Listen to the tape and finish some exercises at section B 2a and section B 2b.

Step 4 Post-listening ( 10 mins)

Give each pair a picture and according to the picture, one student should describe , and another student should draw a picture.

Step5 Summary and Homework ( 3 mins)

The homework is to use the important sentence patterns to describe the things’location in their home, at least five sentences.

VI. Blackboard Plan

Unit 4 Where is my backpack?

I. Key words: table, dresser, bookcase, sofa, chair, drawer, CD,

alarm clock, video tape, hat; on, in, under, behind.

II.The sentence pattern:

Where is /are …. ? It is / They are … ?

Is / Are the …in/on/under …? Yes, it is /they are . No ,it isn’t/they aren’t.
