Module 2 Unit 2 Reading An adventure in Africa

预习案（供课前使用）

预习方法指导：

1.在预习时把单词和短语熟记，完成基础知识记忆，为自学课文作好词汇准备；（参考时间：10分钟）

2.用英语描述一个在中国你最想旅行的地方，要求用5至6句话说出它的典型特色，但不能出现这个地方的名字，供上课时同学们一起完成“猜地名”游戏；（参考时间：8分钟）

3.在预习时通读教材三遍。第一轮浏览课文背景体现，快速通读教材完成教材助读①；第二轮听录音仔细阅读教材，完成教材助读②；第三轮熟悉课文细节,找出难点,为课堂作好准备。（参考时间：20分钟）

Leaning aims（学习目标）：

Before this period, students will be able to

◊ Firmly master the words, phrases and sentences of the passage;

◊ Search for useful information about travel;

◊ Understand the article well and be well prepared for the class.

Learning background（课文学习背景体现）：

The article is an informal letter written by Toby about his travel plans with his brother. A general introduction about their routes in Africa and adventure activities are presented. Equipped with background information about Africa, students are expected not only to grasp the main idea of the letter but also to identify the features of an informal letter.

Learning Procedures（预习步骤）：

Step 1 Memorizing vocabulary

Try to remember the words and expressions on pages 22 and 23 in the vocabulary list on page 68.

Step 2 Description

Try to describe a place in China that you want to visit most by using at most 5 or 6 sentences without referring to the name.

◊talk about travelling and adventures and discuss future travel plans

Teaching Methods:

◊teachers' guiding the topic

◊students' organizing study and activities by themselves(Students are divided into two groups. Girl team and Boy team will have a competition in some sessions.) Teaching Procedures:

Step 1 Lead-in(导入)

1). “Music appreciation”(电影主题歌欣赏)

Appreciate the theme song of the movie “Zambezia”.

T: The movie is set in Africa, which is a mysterious and great place. You can have

a lot of amazing adventures there.

2). “Guessing game”(说英语猜地名游戏)

Ask some of the students to describe a place that they want to visit most and the rest of them to guess the name of it.

3). “A video clip”(非洲介绍视频)

Commentary(解说词):“Africa. The world’s greatest wilderness. The only place on Earth to see the full majesty of nature. There’s so much more here than we ever imagined. I’m standing where the equator(赤道) cuts right across the middle of the continent. To the north of me, there’s an immerse desert, the size of the United States of America. To the west, a vast rainforest the size of India. And behind me, for thousands of miles, the most fertile savannahs(大草原) in the world. From the roof of Africa to the deepest jungle. Rarely seen places, and untold stories. There’s nowhere in the world where wildlife puts on a greater show. This is the last place on Earth where you can come eye to eye with the greatest animals that walk our planet. This is Africa.”
