教学设计

Section 1 Analysis of the teaching material

First of all, I’d like to talk about my understanding about this lesson. This is the reading part of Unit 9, which plays an important part in this unit. The topic of this reading passage is Food for Thought and it tells us some helpful ideas on how to get on well with others.

Section 2 Analysis of students

The students’ vocabulary and language knowledge are very poor. Some students are not active in class and some don’t like English, but students’ carefully reviewing the words and previewing the passage surely will lessen their difficulty in comprehending. Moreover, students are easily activated by pictures and sounds and they like to air their opinions about something. So we should encourage and help them.

Section 3 Teaching targets

Based on the analysis of the teaching material and students, , I set the following teaching targets.

1.Ability targets

Improve the students’ reading skills and let them be able to find out the main idea and retell the text.

2. Knowledge targets:

Help the students make sense of the passage better and master the following words and phrases:

in anger, not … at all, the same as, as … as…, get on with 3.Moral targets:

Among these teaching targets, the next is considered as the teaching important points.

1.Train the students’ reading skills.

2.Help the students make sense of the passage.

3.Teach the students some difficult language points.

While the difficult points would be:

1.How to help the students improve their reading ability.

2.How to help the students understand the passage better.

Section 4 Teaching Methods

In order to achieve the teaching targets better, stress the important points and break through the difficult points, I will use Task-based Language teaching method. I will use pair work, group work to let the students take an active part in all kinds of activities. That is: “learning by doing” “learning by using”. Besides, Multimedia devices and PPT documents are used as my teaching aids.

Section 5 Teaching procedures:

I have designed the following steps to train the students’ abilities of listening, speaking, reading and writing, especially reading ability.

Step I Greetings and Lead-in

1.Greet the whole class as usual.

2.Lead-in

(show some pictures on the screen and work in groups to have a discussion.)

6.What dose the story tell us?

Task 2: Detailed-reading

Read the text “Food for thought” again and fill in the blanks with the information from the text to complete the following passage.
