1. 词类转换
将英语句子中属于某种词类的词，译成另一种词类的汉语词，以适应汉语的表达习惯或达到某种修辞目的。
如：（1）Lasers are used in the treatment of retinal detachment. 激光用于治疗视网膜脱落。“治疗treat”因作介词宾语需用名词treatment，汉译时仍可用动词“治疗”。（2）Maiman’s invention of the laser provided new sources of very intense, coherent and highly directional light beams. 梅曼发明了激光器，提供了一种新光源，可产生极强的、相干的和高度定向的光束。 “发明”英译时因作主语故用名词invention。

7. 分译法
英语长句比较多，有时英语长句中主句与从句或主句与修饰语间的关系不十分密切，翻译时可按照汉语多用短句的习惯，把长句中的从句或短语化为句子，分开来叙述，将原句化整为零。为使译文通顺连贯，也可以适当加几个连接词。如：The number of the young people in the United States who can’t read is incredible about one in four.大约有1/4的美国青年人没有阅读能力，这简直令人难以置信。该句在英语中是一个相对简单的句子，但是如果我们按照原文的句子结构死译，就可能被翻译成：没有阅读能力的美国青年人的数目令人难以相信约为1/4。这样，就使得译文极为不通顺，不符合汉语的表达习惯。

in a Circuit? There are many components that may be used in circuits: batteries, light bulbs, wires and switches. The parts of a circuit can be connected in two different ways. When they are connected such that there is a single conducting path between them, they are said to be connected in series. When circuit elements are connected across common points such that there is more than one conducting path through the circuit, they are connected in parallel. A typical electrical device is composed of many smaller series and parallel portions. In general, only very simple circuits can be entirely in series or in parallel.
