Fig.1 : HD-700 Series Hysteresis DynamometerProvided by: (800)404-ATECAdvanced Test Equipment Corp .®Rentals • Sales • Calibration • ServicePage 2 / 18© 2020 MAGTROL | Due to continual product development, Magtrol reserves the right to modify specifications without forewarning.ED DESCRIPTIONWith Magtrol’s Engine Dynamometers, high performance motor testing is available to manufacturers and users of small engines. Magtrol’s Engine Dynamometers have been designed to address the severe, high vibration conditions inherent in internal combustion engine testing.Magtrol’s Engine Dynamometers are highly accurate (± 0.25% of full scale) and can be controlled either manually or via a PC based Controller. For a small engine test stand, Magtrol offers a full line of controllers, readouts and software. As with all Magtrol Hysteresis Dynamometers, engine loading is provided by Magtrol’s Hysteresis Brake, which provides: torque independent of speed, including full load at 0 rpm; excellent repeatability; frictionless torque with no wearing parts (other than bearings); and long operating life with low maintenance.ED APPLICATIONSThe Engine Dynamometers are ideally suited for emissions testing as set forth in CARB and EPA Clean Air Regulations. The Dynamometers will offer superior performance on the production line, at incoming inspection or in the R&D lab.OPERATING PRINCIPLESAIR GAPFIELD COILBALL BEARINGSSHAFTPOLE STRUCTUREHUBROTOR (Drag Cup)Magtrol Hysteresis Dynamometers absorb power with a unique Hysteresis Braking System which provides frictionless torque loading independent of shaft speed. The Hysteresis Brake provides torque by the use of two basic components—a reticulated pole structure and a specialty steel rotor/shaft assembly—fitted together but not in physical contact. Until the pole structure is energized, the drag cup can spin freely on its shaft bearings. When a magnetizing force from the field coil is applied to the pole structure, the air gap becomes a flux field and the rotor is magnetically restrained, providing a braking action between the pole structure and rotor.DYNAMOMETER SELECTIONMagtrol’s Hysteresis Dynamometers cover a wide range of Torque, Speed and Mechanical Power ratings. To select the appropriate size Dynamometer for your motor testing needs, you will need to determine the Maximum Torque, Speed and Power applied to the Dynamometer.MAXIMUM TORQUEThe Magtrol Hysteresis Absorption Dynamometer will develop braking torque at any speed point, including low speed and stall conditions (“0” rpm). It is important to consider all torque points that are to be tested, not only rated torque, but also locked rotor and breakdown torque. Dynamometer selection should initially be based on the maximum torque requirement, subject to determining the maximum power requirements.MAXIMUM SPEEDThis rating is to be considered independent of torque and power requirements, and is the maximum speed at which the Dynamometer can be safely run under free-run or lightly loaded conditions. It is not to be considered as the maximum speed at which full braking torque can be applied.MAXIMUM POWER RATINGSThese ratings represent the maximum capability of the Dynamometer Braking System to absorb and dissipate heat generated when applying a braking load to the motor under test. The power absorbed and the heat generated by the Dynamometer is a function of the Torque (T) applied to the motor under test, and the resulting Speed (n) of the motor. This is expressed in these power (P) formulas:SI:P (watts) = T (N·m) × n (rpm) × (1.047 × 10-1)English: P (watts) = T (lb·in) × n (rpm) × (1.183 × 10-2)Metric: P (watts) = T (kg·cm) × n (rpm) × (1.027 × 10-2)All of Magtrol’s controllers, readouts and software calculate horsepower as defined by 1 hp = 550 lb·ft / s. Using this definition:hp = P (watts) / 745.7The Dynamometer’s ability to dissipate heat is a function of how long a load will be applied. For this reason, the maximum power ratings given are based on continuous operation under load, as well as a maximum of 5 minutes under load.To safely dissipate heat and avoid Dynamometer failure, the maximum power rating is the most important consideration in selecting a Dynamometer.DATASHEET Page 3 / 18© 2020 MAGTROL | Due to continual product development, Magtrol reserves the right to modify specifications without PLETE PC CONTROLMagtrol’s M-TEST 7 Software is a state-of-the-art motor testing program for Windows®-based data acquisition. Used with a Magtrol Programmable Dynamometer Controller, Magtrol M-TEST 7 Software provides the control of any Magtrol Dynamometer and runs test sequences in a manner best suited to the overall accuracy and efficiency of the Magtrol Motor T est System. The data that is generated by Magtrol’s Motor T esting Software can be stored, displayed and printed in tabular or graphic formats, and can be easily imported into a spreadsheet.Written in LabVIEW™, M-TEST 7 has the flexibility to test a majority of motor types in a variety of ways. Because of LabVIEW’s versatility, obtaining data from other sources (e.g. thermocouples), controlling motor power and providing audio/visual indicators is relatively easy.Magtrol’s M-TEST 7 Software is ideal for simulating loads, cycling the unit under test and motor ramping. Because it is easy to gather data and duplicate tests, the software is ideal for use in engineering labs. T ests can be programmed to run on their own and saved for future use allowing for valuable time savings in production testing and incoming/outgoing inspection.SPECIFICATIONSMODELTORQUE MEASURE UNIT CODE a)MAXIMUMTORQUERANGEDRAG TORQUEDE-ENERGIZED AT1,000 RPMNOMINAL INPUT INERTIA MAX.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Specifications and Ordering InformationPart Number 141532-01Rev. L (06/13)3500/25 Enhanced Keyphasor*ModuleThe 3500/25 Enhanced Keyphasor Module is a half-height, two-channel module used to provide Keyphasor signals to the monitor modules in a 3500 rack. The module receives input signals from proximity probes or magnetic pickups and converts the signals to digital Keyphasor signals that indicate when theKeyphasor mark on the shaft coincides with the Keyphasor transducer. The 3500 Machinery Protection System can accept up to four Keyphasor signals for normal configuration and up to eight Keyphasor signals in a paired configuration.Note:A Keyphasor signal is a once-per-turn or multiple-event-per-turn pulse from a rotating shaft or gear used to provide a precise timing measurement. This allows 3500 monitor modules and external diagnostic equipment to measure shaft rotative speed and vector parameters such as 1X vibration amplitude and phase. The Enhanced Keyphasor Module is an improved 3500 system module. It offers expanded Keyphasor signal processing capabilities over the previous design while maintaining complete downward-compatibility in terms of form, fit and function with existing Keyphasor modules for use in legacy systems. TheKeyphasor module, PWA 125792-01, is completely replaced by the more recent 149369-01 module. When a system Keyphasor input is required for Triple Modular Redundant (TMR) applications, the 3500 system should employ two Keyphasor modules. In this configuration the modules work in parallel to provide both a primary and secondary Keyphasor signal to the other modules in the rack.A system with more than four Keyphasor inputs may use a paired configuration provided that there are no more than four primary Keyphasor input signals. A paired configuration requires two consecutive monitoring positions in either the upper/lower or both half-slot positions. Four Keyphasor modules will accept four primary and four backup input channels and provide four output channels (one per module). A configuration of two paired and one non-paired (three Keyphasor modules total) is also possible. In such a configuration, the user may configure the one non-paired Keyphasor (order either two 2-channel or one 1-channel and one 2-channel option)The Isolated Keyphasor I/O module is designed for applications in which the Keyphasor signals are tied in parallel to multiple devices and require isolation from other systems, such as a control system. The Isolated I/O module was created specifically for Magnetic Pickup applications but is compatible with and will provide isolation for Proximitor* applications as long as an external power supply is provided. Note that the intent of this I/O module was primarily to measure shaft speed and not phase. The module can provide phasemeasurements, but this I/O introduces a slightly higher phase shift than the Non-Isolated I/O version. Figure 1 shows the amount of phase shift that the Isolated I/O modules will add at different machine speeds.Enhanced product features include generation of once-per-turn event signals from multi-event-per-turn inputs, field-upgradeable firmware, and asset management data reporting.____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Specifications and Ordering InformationSpecificationsInputsPowerConsumption3.2 Watts typical.SignalEach Keyphasor Module accepts up to two transducer signals from proximity probe transducers or magnetic pickups. The input signal range is +0.8 V to -21.0 V (Non-Isolated I/O modules) or +5V to -11V (Isolated I/O modules). Signals exceeding this range are limited internally by the module. Passive magnetic pickups require a shaft rotative speed greater than 200 rpm (3.3 Hz).InputImpedance21.8 k Ω minimum.Signal ConditioningSpeed/ Frequency Signal RangesInput range of 1 to 1,200,000 cpm (0.017 to 20 kHz). Next, increase the temperature to 427°C (800°F) for 15 minutes.6. Turn off the power source.CAUTION: The heater will be hot at the conclusion of the Burn In procedure.NOTE: This procedure should be performed whenever a new handpiece or new heater is connected to the system.OperationVariable Temperature ControlAdjust the Variable Temperature Control Knob to the desired temperature setting. Notice that the control panel has an outer graphic scale denoting temperature in °C (Celsius) and an inner graphic scale denoting temperature in °F (Fahrenheit). These numerical scales denote the set tip temperature times 100 (e.g., “3” on the outer scale is 3 x 100 or 300°C).Temperature/Dial LockThe Variable Temperature Control Knob can be locked in position to avoid accidental or unauthorized changes of the temperature setting.1. Adjust the Temp. Control Knob to the desired temperature setting.2. Using the Temp. Locking Key (hex key supplied with system), tightenthe set screw on the Temp. Locking Ring closest to the front panel.LED OperationThe Green colored LED on the power source front panel indicates System Status and Power Receptacle output status (LED OFF, ON or Flashing).LED Full On - Continuous power is being delivered to the handpiece. This condition is evident when the system is first powered up (handpiece heater cold) or the Variable Temperature Control setting is increased.LED Flashing - Indicates that the set tip temperature (as set on the Variable Temperature Control) has been reached. Power to the handpiece is cycling Off and On to maintain set temperature.LED Off - No power is being delivered to the handpiece heater. This condition is evident for a short period of time when set temperature is reached and stabilizing or if the Variable Temperature Control setting is decreased. If the LED never illuminates, check for a faulty handpiece (see Corrective Maintenance section). Also, if no handpiece is connected to the power source, the LED will not illuminate.TEKLINKto interface your ST 25/45 with the VACUUM and PRESSURE through the VACUUM and PRESSURE ports of the ST 125/145. To link your ST 25 system to the ST 125/145 system, perform the following procedure.1. Place your ST 25/45 system adjacent to (side by side) or stacked on top ofthe ST 125/145 system.2. Use the TEKLINK cable (sold separately) to connect the systems together. The TEKLINK Receptacle is located on the back panel of each power supply.3. Ensure the VisiFilter assembly is connected to either the ST 125/145 VACUUM Port.4. Connect the air hose of the handpiece being used, to either the VisiFilter assembly or thecontrollable PRESSURE port. The TEKLINK Remote Box (sold separately) allows the connection of up to three ST 25/45 systems in any combination.NOTE:Systems connected together through the TEKLINK system must be used and controlled by a single operator. Any attempt to operate by more than one individual can create a hazardcondition and will cause deterioration in performance.CAUTION: Ensure that only one air hose is connected to the VACUUM or controllable PRESSURE port at one time. Attachment to both ports simultaneously will cause deterioration in performance. Temperature Dial AdjustmentThe ST 25 system is tested for temperature accuracy at the factory and can bechecked for calibration according to PACE requirements. Also, a temperature settingnormally used by the operator can be adjusted to the precise temperature indicated onthe Dial/Display. No internal adjustments can be made to the power supply. Look at thesource with your eye positioned close to the detector. Mount the detector in the area where the source light is brightest.2.Place a retroreflector over the lens of the detector. Look at the detector with your eye positioned close to the source. Mount the source in the area where the light reflected from the retroreflector is the brightest.Obtain final alignment by moving the detector back and forth in the horizontal axis to find the extreme positions where the output indicator on the detector goes “off” (for dark operate models,or “on” for light operate models). Position the detector midway between the two extremes.Repeat this procedure for the vertical axis, then tighten the source in place. Now repeat the final alignment procedure for the source.MOUNTING LOCATION AND SET-UPMount the source and detector units so they are aimed directly at each other from opposite sides of the target. (The detector should be on the dirtier side because the light scattering effect of dirt collecting on the lens is less significant if it takes place at the detector.) Ensure that the area of the target to be detected will block the entire effective beam. Apply power to both the source and detector.Accurate sensing depends on proper alignment of the source and detector. To begin, the source and detector must be positioned in rough alignment so that source light is received by the detector (check by placing a solid object in front of the source beam--the output indicator on the detector will change when the object blocks the beam, and change back when the object is removed). If the output indicator does not change, follow one or both of these two rough alignment methods:The source must be placed within the detector field of view for the detection system to operate.(Detection Zone)b lock this beam in order to be detected. The detector must be placed w ithin t he s ource WARNING!•These products are not designed, tested, or recommended for use in human safety applications.•This product has no user-serviceable parts—please return it to the factory for repairs. The cable clamp on the back of the sensor does not require adjustment. Any attempt to tighten or loosen this part will compromise sealing and void warranty.•AC/DC connector version sensors are equipped with an AC-type connector. The use of DC power with AC-type connectors may not conform with established standards.*This manual also covers the model numbers above with the options suffix -FC and -FSC (see “Specifications” on last page for differences)INTRODUCTIONThe E58-30 Photoelectric Sensor line was designed to withstand your harshest physical, chemical, and optical environments.Environments like the Forest Industry where the sensor withstands high-impact shock and heavy vibration.
