What Electives To ChooseWith the reform of Chinese higher education, more and more colleges and universities put emphasis on nurturing students’ abilities. As a result, elective courses are available not only for excellent academic performers but also for students about the average level.Certainly, students have different reasons to choose their own electives. For some, practical skills are the essence of college education, and therefore, courses on computer science, marketing, and financeare highly preferred. On the other hand, others may hold the idea of liberal education and electives concerning literature, history, and philosophy are the most welcome.Take me as an example: being a disciple of free education, I stand for the notion that university is not a place for survival skills, but a palace of knowledge and critical reasoning. Although my major is chemistry, the electives I attend most frequently are English literature, an Introduction to Classic Music, and Different Schools of Western Painting. They really widen my horizon.。

Part V Writing (30 minutes)Directions: For this part ,you are allowed thirty minutes to write a composition on the topic How to Succeed in a Job Interview? You should write at least 120 words but no more than 180 words.Suppose a foreign friend of yours is going to visit you. What do you think s/he may find a challenge and how would you help him/her overcome it?2017年12月英语四级作文范文When a foreign friend visits me, I believe s/he may find the language barrier a challenge. Communicating in a language that is not your mother tongue can be difficult, especially when you are in a new country with different customs and practices. To help my friend overcome this challenge, I would suggest the following strategies:Firstly, I would provide language support by translating important phrases and sentences commonly used in dailyconversations. This will help my friend to communicate with locals, ask for directions, and order food at restaurants.Secondly, I would recommend language exchange programs or classes where my friend can improve his/her language skills. By practicing speaking and listening with native speakers, my friend will become more confident in using the language. Moreover, I would also encourage my friend to immerse himself/herself in the local culture by participating in cultural activities and events. This will not only help my friend to learn more about the country but also make new friends and connections. In conclusion, by providing language support, encouraging language practice, and immersing my friend in the local culture, I believe I can help him/her overcome the challenge of the language barrier and have a memorable visit.篇22007年12月英语四级作文题为“Do you agree or disagree with the statement? It is better to give students a lecture to help them learn than to assign them homework to do at home.”(你是否同意这个观点?

(A)Part I Writing (30 minutes)What electives to choose1. 以你自己为例……Part II Reading Comprehension (Skimming and Scanning ) (15 minutes)Universities Branch OutAs never before in their long history, universities have become instruments of national competition as well as instruments of peace. They are the place of the scientific discoveries that move economies forward, and the primary means of educating the talent required to obtain and maintain competitive advantage. But at the same time, the opening of national borders to the flow of goods, services, information and especially people has made universities a powerful force for global integration, mutual understanding and geopolitical stability. In response to the same forces that have driven the world economy, universities have become more self-consciously global: seeking students form around the world who represent the entire range of cultures and values, sending their own students abroad to prepare them for global careers, offering courses of study that address the challenges of an interconnected world and collaborative (合作的) research programs to advance science for the benefit of all humanity. Of the forces shaping higher education none is more sweeping than the movement across borders. Over the past three decades the number of students leaving home each year to study abroad has grown at an annual rate of 3.9 percent, from 800,000 in 1975 to 2.5 million in 2004. Most travel from one developed nation to another, but the flow from developing to developed countries is growing rapidly. The reverse flow, from developed to developing countries, is on the rise, too. Today foreign students earn 30 percent of the doctoral degrees awarded in the United States and 38 percent of those in the United Kingdom. And the number crossing borders for undergraduate study is growing as well, to 8 percent of the undergraduates at America’s best institutions and 10 percent of all undergraduates in the U.K. In the United States, 20 percent of the newly hired professors in science and engineering are foreign-born, and in China many newly hired faculty members at the top research universities received their graduate education abroad.Universities are also encouraging students to spend some of their undergraduate years in another country. In Europe, more than 140,000 students participate in the Erasmus program each year, taking courses for credit in one of 2,200 participating institutions across the continent. And in the United States, institutions are helping place students in summer internships (实习) abroad to prepare them for global careers. Yale and Harvard have led the way, offering every undergraduate at least one international study or internship opportunity-and providing the financial resources to make it possible.Globalization is also reshaping the way research is done. One new trend involves sourcing portions of a research program to another country. Yale professor and Howard Hughes Medical Institute investigator Tian Xu directs a research center focused on the genetics of human disease at Shanghai’s Fudan University, in collaboration with facu lty colleagues from both schools. The Shanghai center has 95 employees and graduate students working in a 4,300-square-meter laboratory facility. Yale faculty, postdoctors and graduate students visit regularly and attend videoconference seminars with scien tists from both campuses. The arrangement benefits both countries; Xu’s Yale lab is more productive, thanks to the lower costs of conducting research in china, and Chinese graduate students, postdoctors and faculty get on-the-job training from a world-class scientist and his U.S. team.As a result of its strength in science, the United States has consistently led the world in the commercialization of major new technologies, from the mainframe computer and the integrated circuit of the 1960s to the Internetinfrastructure (基础设施) and applications software of the 1990s. The link between university-based science and industrial application is often indirect but sometimes highly visible: Silicon Valley was intentionally created by Stanford University, and Route 128 outside Boston has long housed companies spun off from MIT and Harvard. Around the world, governments have encouraged copying of this model, perhaps most successfully in Cambridge, England, where Microsoft and scores of other leading software and biotechnology companies have set up shop around the university. For all its success, the United States remains deeply hesitant about sustaining the research-university model. Most politician recognize the link between investment in science and national economic strength, but support for research funding has been unsteady. The budget of the National Institutes of Health doubled between 1998 and 2003, but has risen more slowly than inflation since then. Support for the physical sciences and engineering barely kept pace with inflation during that same period. The attempt to make up lost ground is welcome, but the nation would be better served by steady, predictable increases in science funding at the rate of long-term GDP growth, which is on the order of inflation plus 3 percent per year.American politicians have great difficulty recognizing that admitting more foreign students can greatly promote the national interest by increasing international understanding. Adjusted for inflation, public funding for international exchanges and foreign-language study is well below the levels of 40 years ago. In the wake of September 11, changes in the visa process caused a dramatic decline in the number of foreign students seeking admission to U.S. Universities, and a corresponding surge in enrollments in Australia, Singapore and the U.K. Objections from American university and business leaders led to improvements in the process and a reversal of the decline, but the United States is still seen by many as unwelcoming to international students. Most Americans recognize that universities contribute to the nation’s well-being through their scientific research, but many fear that foreign students threaten American competitiveness by taking their knowledge and skills back home. They fail to grasp that welcoming foreign students to the United States has two important positive effects: first, the very best of them stay in the States and ?like immigrants throughout history-strengthen the nation; and second, foreign students who study in the United States become ambassadors for many of its most cherished (珍视) values when they return home. Or at least they understand them better. In America as elsewhere, few instruments of foreign policy are as effective in promoting peace and stability as welcoming international university students.1. In just a few years, 34 percent of American universities have begun offering some form of distance learning (DL), and among the larger schools, it’s closer to 90 percent. If you doubt the popularity of the trend, you probably haven’t heard of the University of Phoenix. It grants degrees entirely on the basis of online instruction. It enrolls 90,000 students, a statistic used to support its claim to be the largest private university in the country. While the kinds of instruction offered in these programs will differ, DL usually signifies a course in which the instructors post syllabi (课程大纲), reading assignments, and schedules on Websites, and students send in their assignments by e-mail. Generally speaking, face-to-face communication with an instructor is minimized or eliminated altogether. The attraction for students might at first se em obvious. Primarily, there’s the convenience promised by courses on the Net: you can do the work, as they say, in your pajamas (睡衣). But figures indicate that the reduced effort results in a reduced commitment to the course. While dropout rates for all freshmen at American universities is around 20 percent, the rate for online students is 35 percent. Students themselves seem to understand the weaknesses inherent in the setup. In a survey conducted for eCornell, the DL division of Cornell University, less than a third of the respondents expected the quality of the online course to be as good as the classroom course.Clearly, from the schools’ perspective, there’s a lot of money to be saved. Although some of the more ambitious programs require new investments in severs and networks to support collaborative software, most DL courses can run on existing or minimally upgraded(升级) systems. The more students who enroll in a course but don’t come to campus, the more the schools saves on keeping the lights on in the classrooms, paying doorkeepers, and maintaining parking lots. And, while there’s evidence that instructors must work harder to run a DL course for a variety of reasons, they won’t be paid any more, and might well be paid less.57. What is the most striking feature of the University of Phoenix?A) All its courses are offered online.B) Its online courses are of the best quality.C) It boasts the largest number of students on campus.D) Anyone taking its online courses is sure to get a degree.58. According to the passage, distance learning is basically characterized by _________.A) a considerable flexibility in its academic requirementsB) the great diversity of students’ academic backgroundsC) a minimum or total absence of face-to-face instructionD) the casual relationship between students and professors59. Many students take Internet-based courses mainly because they can ________.A) earn their academic degrees with much less effortB) save a great deal on traveling and boarding expenseC) select courses from various colleges and universitiesD) work on the required courses whenever and wherever60. What accounts for the high drop-out rates for online students?A) There is no strict control over the academic standards of the courses.B) The evaluation system used by online universities is inherently weak.C) There is no mechanism to ensure that they make the required effort.D) Lack of classroom interaction reduces the effectiveness of instruction.61. According to the passage, universities show great enthusiasm for DL programs for the purpose of ________.A) building up their reputation B) cutting down on their expensesC) upgrading their teaching facilities D) providing convenience for studentsPassage TwoQuestions 62 to 66 are based on the following passage. In this age of Internet chat, videogames and reality television, there is no shortage of mindless activities to keep a child occupied. Yet, despite the competition, my 8-year-old daughter Rebecca wants to spend her leisure time writing short stories. She wants to enter one of her stories into a writing contest, a competition she won last year.As a writer I know about winning contests, and about losing them. I know what it is like to work hard on a story to receive a rejection slip from the publisher. I also know the pressures of trying to live up to a reputation created by previous victories. What if she doesn’t win the contest again? That’s the strange thing about being a paren t. So many of our own past scars and dashed hopes can surface.A revelation (启示) came last week when I asked her, “Don’t you want to win again?” “No,” she replied, “I just want to tell the story of an angel going to first grade.”I had just spent weeks correcting her stories as she spontaneously (自发地) told them. Telling myself that I was merely an experienced writer guiding the young writer across the hall. I offered suggestions first grade was quickly “guided” by me into the tale of a little girl wit h a wild imagination taking her first music lesson. I had turned her contest into my contest without even realizing it.Staying back and giving kids space to grow is not as easy as it looks. Because I know little about farm animals who use tools or angels who go to first grade. I had to accept the fact that I was co-opting (借用) my daughter’s experience. While steeping back was difficult for me, it was certainly a good first step that I will quickly follow with more steps, putting myself far enough away to give her room but close enough to help if asked.

English:In December 2007, the English writing section of the College English Test Band 4 (CET-4) in China presented students with the following essay topic: "My View on University Ranking". In this essay, I will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of university rankings. On the one hand, university rankings can provide valuable information for students and parents when choosing universities, as they reflect the overall quality and reputation of institutions. Rankings can also encourage healthy competition among universities, driving them to improve their teaching and research standards. However, on the other hand, university rankings may oversimplify the complex nature of higher education, focusing too much on research output and international reputation while neglecting other important factors such as teaching quality, student satisfaction, and community engagement. Moreover, rankings can create a sense of elitism, with students and institutions striving for a higher position rather than focusing on personal and academic growth. In conclusion, while university rankings can be useful as a reference, they should not be the sole factor considered when choosing a university, and effortsshould be made to ensure that they accurately reflect the diverse missions and strengths of different institutions.

Directions: For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write a short essay onhow to best handle the relationshop between teachers and students. You should write at least 120 words but no more than 180 words. A good teacher-student relationship will make learning and teaching enjoyable and interesting. Both teachers and students should make efforts to build a harmonious relationship. On the one hand, the teacher plays an essential role in setting up a good teacher-student relationship. The teacher should motivate the students and lead them to be interested in learning. A good teacher should be patient, kindly and strict. Too kindly or too strict can be both harmful. On the other hand, the students should respect their teachers, and pay more attention in class to learn how to solve problems. It’s important to learn to raise questions and work out problems in new ways. A good teacher-student relationship benefits both the teachers and the students, so it’s vital for them to word harder. Boundaries exist in virtually all human relationships, and students-teacher relationships are no exception to this rule. This reality gives rise to the following question: what kind of boundaries can be deemed appropriate in an academic setting ?My opinion is that, in general, a relatively formal distance should be kept between professors and their students. One reason to maintain a formal distance between students and teachers is to highlight the instructor’s role as an authority figure. This is important so that the professors can enforce discipline, have instructions followed, and command respect from students. Another reason why teachers should maintain a formal students with their students is to avoid real and perceived bias. If the teacher develops close relationships with the students, it may be difficult to completely eliminate bias. Even the impression of bias may cause some students to feel that they have been treated unfairly. In sum, maintaining a formal distance between teachers and students can ensure an atmosphere of authority in the classroom and avoid both real and perceived bias.

Nowadays, there usually exists a wide selection of electives for college students to choose from. However, students have quite different plans for their future so they always end up learning courses based on their own ideas. Some students may choose to learn a certain course in order to obtain an extra certificate for their job hunting after graduation. Because they assume that some more knowledge could ensure more chances of winning in finding a good job. Others may have their choice made just for fun. They tend to hold the idea that college life could be more colorful if they could widen their knowledge through elective courses. As far as I'm concerned, I'm inclined to choose electives based on both the value of the courses and the interest of my own.范文二Nowadays many college students prefer to have electives in their spare time because the courses can offer a variety of skills and abundant knowledge apart from what they learn in the daily courses. There are many factors that may account for it, and the following are the most conspicuous aspects. To start with, many students want to get another degree besides their own, so that they can have more competence when they seek a job. Furthermore, as for me, I don't care about degree or job, I just want to obtain some necessary skills to make my college life worthwhile. What I'm concerned most is how to own more skills that may be necessary for my future. Finally, some students want to learn anything that is different from what they are learning now. The science students, for example, want to know about Shakespeare while the art students want to tell how a vehicle works and how to deal with it when it breaks down. So, they can all get what they think is useful to their college life.On the whole, the phenomenon is one of the results of multi-demand of the employment market. There is still a long way for us to improve the elective itself, but as a student myself, I find it rewarding and interesting.

Apart from that, the large number of migrant workers is a factor which stimulates the consumption of daily items. While placing great emphasis on the positive impacts of these migrant workers, we are not to ignore troubles facing them. To begin with, these migrants have trouble getting theirchildren into child care centers and schools because they are unregistered residents in the city.As you know, illiterate people, who are usually ignorant of lays, tend to make troubles concerning law and order. Additionally, most of the migrant workers swarm into cities merely for money, some of whom would stop at nothing to get what they want and become a potential threat to the peace and stability of society.Taking into account of all these influences, I can safely come to the conclusion that while we are appreciating their great contribution, we are supposed to pay enough attention to the problems caused by them. In sum, in the appraisal of migrant workers, it is one-side to affirm or to negate everything.4.

The Impact of Internet on People’s Life范文如下:With the rapid development of technology, the Internet has become an indispensable part of people's daily life. The Internet has brought about tremendous changes in the way we work, communicate, shop, and even entertain ourselves. In this essay, I will discuss the impact of the Internet on people's lives.First of all, the Internet has revolutionized the way we work. With the help of the Internet, we can easily access information, communicate with colleagues, and even work remotely. This has not only increased efficiency but also created more opportunities for people to work from home or start their own businesses. For example, many freelancers and digital nomads rely on the Internet to find clients and manage their projects.Secondly, the Internet has transformed the way we communicate. Social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram have made it easier for us to connect with friends and family, no matter where they are in the world. We can share our thoughts, photos, and videos with a click of a button, and keep intouch with loved ones in real time. This has made communication more convenient and immediate than ever before.Furthermore, the Internet has changed the way we shop. Online shopping has become increasingly popular, with more and more people choosing to buy products and services online. This has not only made shopping more convenient but also opened up a world of possibilities for consumers. We can now purchase items from around the globe and have them delivered to our doorstep within days. Finally, the Internet has had a profound impact on the way we entertain ourselves. Streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, and YouTube have made it easier for us to access a wide variety of movies, TV shows, and videos on demand. We can watch our favorite programs anytime, anywhere, and on any device. This has transformed the way we consume media and has led to the rise of binge-watching culture. In conclusion, the Internet has had a significant impact on people's lives in terms of work, communication, shopping, and entertainment. While there are certainly drawbacks to the Internet, such as privacy concerns and online addiction, its benefits far outweigh its disadvantages. The Internet has madeour lives easier, more connected, and more enjoyable, and will continue to shape the way we live in the future.。

In the multifaceted world we inhabit, wheretechnological advancements intertwine with social complexities, the concept of "identity" has become asubject of profound contemplation. Identity, the fundamental sense of self that shapes our thoughts, actions, and experiences, is a tapestry woven from a myriad of influences, both internal and external. It is an ever-evolving construct, molded by our interactions with others, our experiences in the world, and the cultural norms that surround us.While identity is often perceived as a singular and immutable entity, it is, in reality, a dynamic and fluid concept. It is shaped by our past, present, and future aspirations, as well as the interplay of personalnarratives and collective experiences. Our identity is not something that we possess but rather something that wecontinually construct and reconstruct through our ongoing engagement with the world. The notion of identity is inextricably linked to the concept of culture. Culture, the shared beliefs, values, customs, and practices of a particular society, exerts a profound influence on the formation of our identities. It provides us with a framework for understanding the world, a set of norms that guide our behavior, and a repertoire of symbols and rituals that help us to make sense of our experiences. Culture shapes our perceptions of ourselves, others, and the world around us, serving as a lens through which we filter our interactions and experiences. However, the relationship between identity and culture is not unidirectional. While culture undoubtedly influences our identities, it is also true that our identities can, in turn, shape and transform our culture. Through our actions, choices, and expressions, we contribute to the cultural tapestry of our communities. We challenge norms, introduce new ideas, and question prevailing assumptions, thereby fostering cultural evolution and change. Identity, therefore, is not merely a product of culture but an active force that participates in its ongoing creation and redefinition. The interconnectedness of identity and culture is exemplified in the concept of collective identity. Collective identity refers to the sense of belonging and shared purpose that individuals feel towards a particular group, such as a nation, an ethnic group, or a religious community. Collective identities are often deeply rooted in shared histories, traditions, and values, and they can provide individuals with a sense of rootedness, purpose, and belonging. However, collective identities can also be exclusionary and divisive, leading to conflict and discrimination. It is therefore crucial to strike a balance between embracing collective identities and promoting inclusivity and respect for diversity. In the rapidly globalizing world of today, where individuals are increasingly exposed to diverse cultures and perspectives, the question of identity takes on added significance. On the one hand, globalization promotescultural exchange and the dissemination of ideas, leadingto the emergence of hybrid and cosmopolitan identities. On the other hand, globalization can also lead to cultural homogenization and a sense of rootlessness and alienation. In this complex and interconnected world, it is essentialto cultivate a strong sense of individual identity while simultaneously embracing and celebrating cultural diversity. In conclusion, identity is a multifaceted and dynamic concept that is shaped by a complex interplay of personal experiences, cultural influences, and collective narratives. It is not a fixed entity but rather an ongoing process of construction and reconstruction. Our identities are shaped by our past, present, and future aspirations, as well asthe ongoing engagement with our world and its diverse cultures. As individuals, we have the power to both shape our own identities and contribute to the cultural tapestryof our communities. By embracing diversity, fostering inclusivity, and engaging in critical self-reflection, we can create a world where all individuals can feel a senseof belonging and purpose, regardless of their unique identities.

Electives CourseWe all know that elective course can make a free space for everyone to show their strong points, develop their imaginations, creations and personal styles. Every term our school would offer a range of elective courses which you can choose according to your own areas of interest. I always read all course information and analysis which one is suitable for us study. This semester, I took an course about psychological health as my elective course.Nowadays, it is a common phenomenon that people go to have some psychological consultations, including students in school.I always face great pressure from study and life. Being depressed for a long time, I doubt if I am physically healthy. So I choose it as my elective course of this term.During the course, my mental state improved greatly. First and foremost, I tried to build up a healthy lifestyle. Furthermore, I realized that we need to find different ways to relax ourselves when we face severe competition. Thirdly, we should be sympathetic. Thanks to the electives course.Elective Course—Fashion and Image DesignAll the universities offer various electives for students to choose. They may make different choices due to different reasons. But as far as I am concerned, Fashion and Image Design course is worth studying for each individual.First, a good appearance may help us make a better impression in social contacts. The way we are dressed helps us to preserve a sense of our own value and personality. Second, Fashion addsspice to life with its rich color, variety, and beauty. The world will be a dull place to live in if we always wear clothes of the same style and color. And the third, also the most important, being well-dressed is of psychological importance. Because dress properly can enhance ourself-confidence in appearance, which will lead to confidence in our success in life. That’s the reason why I choose this course. The confident people are the most charming people, I believe that Fashion and Image Design will give you an unusual life.Elective CourseAs a college student in the new era, we should pay attention not only to human deveploment, but also to harmoniousco-existence between man and nature. In the beginning of the term, I chose an elective related to the environment. I wantto learn some theory concerning environmental protection.Though it may be hard for some people to willingly accept, no one, regardless of race, religion or nationality, can deny that the world we live in is becoming increasingly intolerable because of the effects of global warming. But the lack of knowledge about the importance of protecting environment hinders the solving of the problem. This is the reason that I took the course. In the course, I have learned many problems that I have never realized before. It is urgent that immediate and effetive actions should be taken right away. As an individual, there are lots way to reduce the global warming: to ride a bike instead of a car; to use environmental plastic bags and so on. Moreover we can call people toplant more trees which help improve and beautify the environment. The more loving care showed for the environment, the more beautiful the world will become. Let us do our own bit towards protecting the environment. Let us be doing!。

You hear the refrain all the time: the U.S. economy looks good statistically, but it doesn’t feel good. Why doesn’t ever-greater wealth promote ever-greater happiness? It is a question that dates at least to the appearance in 1958 of The Affluent (富裕的) Society by John Kenneth Galbraith, who died recently at 97.The Affluent Society is a modern classic because it helped define a new moment in the human condition. For most of history,“hunger, sickness, and cold” threatened nearly everyone, Galbraith wrote. “Poverty was found everywhere in that world. Obviously it is not of ours.” After World War II, the dread of another Great Depression gave way to an economic boom. In the 1930s unemployment had averaged 18.2 percent; in the 1950s it was 4.5 percent. To Galbraith, materialism had gone mad and would breed discontent. Through advertising, companies conditioned consumers to buy things they didn’t really want or need. Because so much spending was artificial, it would be unfulfilling. Meanwhile, government spending that would make everyone better off was being cut down because people instinctively—and wrongly—labeled government only as “a necessary evil.”52. What question does John Kenneth Galbraith raise in his book The Affluent Society?A) Why statistics don’t tell the truth about the economy.B) Why affluence doesn’t guarantee happiness.C) How happiness can be promoted today.D) What lies behind an economic boom.

Reading Selectively Or Extensively? How should we read? Should we read selectively or extensively? Everyone has his own view. Some people think we should read selectively. They argue that with the development of modern science and technology, more and more books are being published every day. It is impossible for us to read all the books. What's more, there are many bad books that are poisonous to our mind, and we shouldn't read them. Since we can't read all the books, and we shouldn't read bad books, we must read selectively. But others may not agree. They emphasize that today's society is not what is used to be. If you want to be successful, you must read widely and acquire knowledge in both natural sciences and humanities, if a man knows much in one field but little in others, he may not be of great use to the society. Since we must have a wide range of knowledge, we must read extensively.Who's right? There is a lot to be said for both sides of the argument. However, I think we should read extensively first and then dig into the subject we are interested in.12. With all these features, we will have a fun-filled week, especially that in early-October, there are many sunny and mild days for outdoor activities. So, I would suggest visiting these places first, and deciding on the others as our week develops. Finally, since at this time of the year the weather gets a little chilly in the evening, I would suggest that you bring some warm clothing with you. Also, as there will be crowds of people at the stations and on the trains, you need to be very careful with your belongings!Best wishes for a pleasant journey!Yours,Zhang Ying13. How to Succeed in a Job Interview1. 取得面试成功的因素:仪表、举止谈吐、能力、专业知识、自信、实事求是……Nowadays, in an ever tighter job market, great importance has been attached to an interview by both the employer and the applicant. The interview, so to speak, has become indispensable for getting a satisfactory job. On the one hand, the interviewer can take advantage of the occasion to learn about the candidates, such as their work experiences, education and their personalities, so as to pick out the right candidates for the company. One the other hand, the interviewee can make use of the opportunity to get to know the job he is going to take up, the credibility of the firm to which he has applied, and the working conditions as well.Essential as it is, the job interview is far from fearful. Well begun, half done. Excellent performance in it will enable the would-be employee secure the job. But how can one succeed in it?First of all, the interviewee has to pay attention to his or her appearance. Though we can never judge a person by his appearance, the first impression is always where we start. Secondly, good manners are equally important. The interviewee has to be neither too proud nor too timid. Just be courteous. Thirdly, the interviewee must demonstrate his aptitude and skills for the job and knowledge about the job-related areas; he must express himself clearly and confidently. Last but not the least, the interviewee ought to be honest about his or her personal as well as academic background, for honesty is the best policy. To sum up, the job interview is indeed important. There is no need to be nervous, however, if the interviewee has made full preparations for it and given a fairly confident and honest performance, his or her success can be ensured.14.
