Foreword

The installation of Piping Support and Hanger is the final and critical step regarding to the whole design of Piping Support and Hanger. It determines that whether the piping and related equipments can be in safe operation for a long time.

The basic requirements for installation of Piping Support and Hanger are as following:

Installation as per Drawings

Accurate Adjustment

Strict Inspection

“Installation as per Drawings”means that the selection of types, sizes, specifications and materials for Support and Hanger and its attachments and the position, installation and adjustment for Support and Hanger shall be in strict accordance with the Assembly Drawing, the Type Drawing, the Detail Drawing and the Installation Guidance.

“Accurate Adjustment”means that detailed adjustment of positions, connections and loads etc. for Support and Hanger and its attachments shall be done as per design drawings and related technical specifications after installation.

“Strict Inspection”means that the quality of attachments and materials of Support and Hanger shall be accepted before installation and each Support and Hanger and its attachments shall be carefully checked and recorded after installation, after hydraulic testing or during operation.

The springs mentioned in this manual include cylindrical spring and disc spring.

Rigid Hanger is a kind of hanger whose structure is the simplest while the requirements for which are the most stringent. It generally consists of connections, rod, the pipe section (i.e. that the section which is directly contacting with piping) and turnbuckle used to adjust the vertical height. The rod acts as not only connection part but also function part. However, like other types of rigid constraint supports and hangers, the rod must be installed accurately and it can not be overloaded or deviating-loaded, otherwise unsafe effect will be caused to piping and the rod itself.
