英译汉翻译方法介绍---句子的翻译一、分译和合译在翻译英语句子的时候，有时我们不改变或基本不改变句子的结构，但需要对原句作比较大的改变。
有两种常用的方法，一种叫分译，另一种叫合译。
所谓分译是指把一句话译成两句或两句以上。
合译则是指把两个相邻并且语义关系比较紧密的句子译成一句或是把原文的并列句或复合句译成简单句。
1、分译eg:1) Despite their differences, their love will conquer.尽管他们之间存在分歧，他们的恋爱一定会成功。
2) The rain having ruined my hat, I had to buy a new one.雨水把我的帽子淋坏了，我得买个新的。

（动词短语）在英译汉过程中，我们常常遇到这样一种情况，即原词所表达的并不是其字面意义，而是其字面意义的反义，或者说是对其字面意义的否定，可这种否定又往往不出现否定词，这种情况并不很少，给翻译工作带来很大的麻烦。
下面是常见的两个词组，请注意它们的汉语意思：? riot police 防暴警察（即anti-riot police，而不是暴乱的警察）?crisis law 反危机法案（即anti-crisis law)这两个词组的翻译采用的就是反译法，译文都是其字面意义的否定或反义，这样既表达了原文的真正含义，又符合汉语的表达习惯，使人一看就懂。
另外，英文报刊文章标题的翻译有时也采用反译法。
如《中国日报》（China Daily）曾刊登一则新闻，题目是Inflation is target of bank's new policy，主要说的是银行在1995年将来取有力措施制止通货膨胀。
但题目的字面意思恰恰相反。
因此我们在翻译时必须把inflation看成是anti-inflation，使之文题一致。
这样的标题在英文报刊中比较常见，目的是为简练及醒目，在翻译时要格外注意，切勿望文生义。
再让我们来看看下面的例子：(1) Sidney Simon called the college grading system "archaic, prescientific, bureaucraticinvention"，and "about as accurate as police estimates of crowds of peace marches."如果按字面翻译，这句话是这样的：西德尼?西蒙称这种大学评级制度“是过时的，缺乏科学验证”，而且还是“官僚主义的产物”,“简直同警察估计和平示威人数一样准确。
”既然前面已说了这个评级制度“过时无用，缺乏科学验证”，而且还是“官僚主义的产物”，后面又怎么能说它“准确”呢？这显然自相矛盾，西蒙所表达的真正含义绝非如此。
以上译文，忽略了说话人的语气。
其实，西蒙是在抨击大学评级制度。
他说话时，前面直接用了archaic，prescientific和bureaucratic几个贬义词，而后面的褒义词accurate实际上是一个反语。
因为我们知道，警察在估计示威人数时只能说出大概，往往和实际人数出入很大，极不准确。
所以说话人所表达的真正含义是not accurate，或inaccurate。
这样，可理解成about as inaccurate，as police estimates of crowds of peace marches，译成汉语就是：简直同警察估计和平示威人数一样不准确。
就是把accurate反过来译，即反译。
以上例句是通过分析说话人的语气来采用反译法正确表达语义的。
有的句子前面所表达的意思是否定的，但根据这个意思得出来的结论却是肯定的。
为了使其真正含义不至于前后矛盾，我们也采取反译后面结论的方法。
(2) This sort of situation highlights a critical weakness in the ANC leadership: accountability.如按字面则译成：这种情况突出了非国大领导层方面的极为严重的弱点：有责任心。
“有责任心”怎么能是“弱点”呢？这种译文显然是错误的。
作者在句尾所表达的真正含义其实和前面提到的“弱点”是一致的，即可理解成unaccountability。
那么全句应译成：这种情况突出了非国大领导层方面的极为严重的弱点，玩忽职守（无责任心）。
还有一些句子则通过正确理解上下文，仔细推敲关键同的实际含义，再相应采取反译法进行翻译。
(3) In fact, the willingness to experiment is one of the most striking features, and it seems to berooted in confidence rather than security.实际上，乐于进行试验是最显著的特点之一。
它来源于信心，而不是出于不安全感。
综上所述，所谓反译法即把原文中个别词语（大多为名词或形容词）否定或取其反义之后再翻译成汉语，以便译文和原文所表达的真正含义相一致。
这就要求我们能正确理解原文，弄清作者所抱的思想感情和运用的语气，同时又要熟知汉语已有的习惯表达方式。
而这些能力只有通过不断的翻译实践才能逐步提高。
英语和汉语分属两种不同的语系，其差别很大，翻译起来有诸多困难，英语定语从句的汉译便是困难之一。
由于定语从句在英语中应用十分广泛，因此，我们必须想办法、找方法、寻规律，从而很好地解决它。
一、限制性定语从句限制性定语从句对所修饰的先行项起限制作用，在意义上与先行项密切不可分。
如被省去，主句的意思就含糊不清，甚至变得毫无意义。
关系词和先行项之间一般不用逗号分隔。
（一）定语词组?I have but one lamp by which my feed are guided.我只有一盏指路明灯。
?It was so with the vast railroad yards with the crowded array of vessels she saw in theriver.火车站广大的场地，河里鳞次梯比的船只，她也同样不能理解。
?Before following her in her round of seeking, let us look at the sphere in which her futurewas to lie.我们暂且把她找寻工作的事搁下来不谈，先看一看她的前途所寄托的这个世界。
?…and the thread which bound her so lightly to girlhood and home were irretrievablybroken ……而那些把她和少女时代以及故乡轻轻系住的柔丝，不得不就此断绝了。
翻译这类从句，常常是将关系词省去，在句未加“的”字，放在被修饰项之前。
当然，也可视其情况不用“的”字，如?和?。
这种译法用得普遍，尤其适用于译简短的定语从句。
（二）并列从句1）省略英语的先行项?The lungs are subjected to several diseases which are treatable by surgery.肺易受几种疾病的侵袭，但均可经手术治疗。
?A little way on she saw a great door which, for some reason, attracted her attention.又走了一些路，她看见一个大门，不知怎的，引起了她的注意。
?As a result, a hum of gossip was set going which moved about the house in that secretmanner common to gossip.结果就造成一阵闲话，暗中在公寓里流传，闲话一般都是如此的。
?A will had been made which divide the small tax –eaten property equally among theremaining four, so that it was really of no interest to any of them.遗嘱已立好，把这片快要给税吃光的薄产平分给四个孩子，但谁都对此不感兴趣。
上述定语从句例句比（一）里的定语从句例句长些，因此，就不宜译成定语词组成形式。
否则，译句就会显得太长且不符合汉语的表达习惯。
如?就不宜译成“把这片快要给税吃光的薄产平分给四个孩子的中遗嘱早已立好，谁都对此不感兴趣。
”这类从句不是长、难复杂定语从句，一般就按原文的顺序位置译。
上面译句的第二分句，有的承前省略了主语，如??，有的借用第一分句的不定语作逻辑主语，如??2）重复英语的先行项?At dimmer I found myself placed between Mrs. Bradly ,and a shy drab girl who seemedeven younger than the other.席间，我发现自己坐在布拉得雷太太和一腼腆乏味的女孩子中间；她看上去比其余人都年轻。
?A writer——in fact every one of us in life——needs that loving-mother force from whichall creation flows …一个作家——实际上生活中的每个人——都需要慈母的力量，它是创造一切的源泉。
?Man possesses an expressive faculty that goes far beyond gestures, that allows andeven compels him to express his thoughts, feedings, dreams, and intuitions.人类具有远远超过于手势的表达官能，这种官能不仅使人能够，而且使他要把思想、感情、幻梦、直觉表达出来。
