Ladies and gentlemen,Good morning/afternoon/evening. Today, I stand before you to discuss a topic that has the potential to transform our lives, shape our future, and ignite positive change. The topic is the power of questions. Before I delve into the details, I would like to pose a question to you all: Have you ever stopped to think about the impact questions have on our lives? Whether it's in our personal relationships, professional endeavors, or the broader scope of societal issues, questions have the power to guide us, challenge us, and ultimately, transform us.Let's begin with the personal realm. Have you ever asked yourself, "Who am I?" or "What do I truly want out of life?" These questions may seem simple, but they hold the key to self-discovery and personal growth. By pondering these questions, we can gain a deeper understanding of ourselves, our values, and our passions. This self-awareness can lead to more fulfilling relationships, more purposeful work, and a more meaningful life. Now, let's shift gears to the professional world. How often do we find ourselves in meetings, discussions, or negotiations where questions are the cornerstone of progress? Questions such as "What are the challenges we face?" or "How can we improve our processes?" can spark innovation, facilitate problem-solving, and drive us towards success. By asking the right questions, we can unlock the potential within our teams, foster collaboration, and create a culture of continuous improvement. But the power of questions extends far beyond our personal and professional lives. It has the ability to influence the world around us. Think about the pivotal moments in history when questions were askedthat led to significant changes. For example, "Why are women not allowed to vote?" or "Why are people of color treated as second-class citizens?" These questions ignited movements that brought about social justice and equality. In today's world, we are faced with numerous challenges, from climate change to economic inequality. By asking the right questions, we cangain clarity on these issues and work towards sustainable solutions. For instance, "How can we reduce our carbon footprint?" or "How can webridge the wealth gap?" These questions can guide us in making informed decisions and taking action towards a better future. However, it's important to note that not all questions are created equal. The effectiveness of a question lies in its ability to prompt critical thinking, challenge assumptions, and inspire action. Here are a few tips on how to harness the power of questions:1. Ask open-ended questions: These questions encourage in-depth discussion and exploration of ideas. Instead of asking "Is this good?"try asking "What makes this good?" or "What are the potential benefits and drawbacks?"2. Seek diverse perspectives: By asking questions that invite input from different backgrounds and experiences, we can gain a more comprehensive understanding of the issue at hand. This fosters empathy, inclusion, and innovation.3. Be curious: A curious mindset allows us to approach life with a sense of wonder and a willingness to learn. Ask questions that challenge your own assumptions and push the boundaries of your knowledge.4. Embrace uncomfortable questions: Sometimes, the most powerful questions are those that make us uncomfortable. These questions force us to confront our biases, examine our actions, and grow as individuals.5. Ask questions that matter: Focus on questions that have the potential to make a real difference in your life and the lives of others. Thiswill help you prioritize your efforts and concentrate on what truly matters. In conclusion, the power of questions should not be underestimated. They have the ability to transform our lives, shape our future, and ignite positive change. By asking the right questions, we can gain self-awareness, foster innovation, drive societal progress, and create abetter world for all.So, I challenge you to embrace the power of questions. Start by asking yourself, "What questions can I ask to make a difference in my life and the lives of others?" By doing so, you will unlock the potential within yourself and contribute to the greater good.Thank you for your attention.。

1.Do you think teachers should give students a lot of homework? 你认为老师应该给学生布置很多作业吗?不应该布置太多作业,课堂上理解就行了,作业只不过是当做课后复习的。

题海战术,只会增长学生厌读心理。

Thank you. // Well, i should say teachers should give students some home work to do, because it can help students to better understand the subject and it is easier for them to grasp the information in next lessons. However, i don’t think teachers should give students a lot of homework, because it always give students a lot of stress. In order to finish it, many usually stay up late, and it’s bad for their health. Besides, after that, students would feel sleepy the next day and cannot concentrate on class.2.In the future, do you want to study in a university? Why or why not?将来,你是否会想上大学?为什么?想,因为大学的生活更轻松,更有目标性,先学那科学那科。

北师大小学英语四年级上册英语3单元说课稿

北师大小学英语四年级上册英语3单元说课稿

Unit 3 It’s too expensive!Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. I’m Li Yuting, from Chengdu Guilin Primary School. I’m so honored to share my teaching design here. The teaching content is Lesson 1 of Unit 3 It’s too expensive!, from Primary English, Grade 4, volume 1, published by Beijing Normal University Press. This unit is mainly about asking and answering questions about prices and size of clothing. Now, I will explain the lesson from the following aspects.Firstly, let’s focus on the analysis of teaching content. The topic of shopping can be found in the book of Grade 3. In volume 1, numbers from eleven to twenty and the structure “How much is/are?” are covered. In volume 2, sentence pattern “I want …” and “Do you have…”are contained. In this lesson, the topic of shopping is enriched by expressions of asking and answering size of clothing, and “expensive”, “cheap”to describe prices. Ss can review and extend the topic of shopping by learning this story.Secondly, it is about the Ss.Our Ss are in Grade four. They are active and curious, interested in all new things. After learning English for three years, they have some basic English background knowledge, so the teacher should pay more attention to the communication with them; provide them with chances of using language as much as possible. They have learnt English for 3 years, and have already learned thestructure “How much is/are…?”“Do you have…?”It is not difficult for them to understand structures of asking and answering questions about prices and size of clothing by the end of the class. So, I set the following aims.nguage KnowledgeBy the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to read, recognize and understand the meaning of these words: clothes, shorts, shoes, trousers, expensive, cheap, size, any, some, too, medium. And these sentences: “Do you have any…?”, “Yes, I do.”, “What size do you want?”, “Those trousers are too big.”“This store is too expensive.”“Those clothes are cheap.” Ss should know what “Let’s go in.”, “the right size.”, “only” mean in the story.nguage SkillBy the end of the lesson, Ss can understand the story and get useful information from character dialogues through activities of watching, observing, predicting, listening and reading etc.3.Emotional AimSs should learn to be thrift.Next is teaching aids. In this class, I’ll use PPT and tape recorder.Fourthly, I’ll talk about teaching method. In this lesson, I will mainly use “Task-based teaching method”, “situational approach” and “TPR teaching method” and so on.Now, l et’s focus on the teaching procedures. I will finish the lessonin 4 steps.Step 1. Warming-upI will start the lesson with a TPR activity. The order “Touch your…” is given and the words and pictures of the corresponding clothing is shown by the PPT. This will help Ss to review the vocabulary of clothing and the new words “trousers”, “shorts”, “skirt”will be presented here and the sentence “Do you have any…?”will be brought out by asking “Boys/Girls, do you have any skirt?” and naturally, the expressing “Yes, we do.”, “No, we don’t.” are elicited.Step 2 Lead-inThe same pictures of clothing will be showed again with price tags. Ss must say their prices in English to review the expression “How much is…”and numbers of 65, 45, and 50 are preliminarily introduced here. Picture 1 and picture 2 are used as background information for this story. Ss are directed to compare the prices in these two stores to conclude the first one is expensive and the latter is cheap. Thus, these two key words are presented appropriately and the emotional aim of being thrift is penetrated in this step.Step 3 PresentationFirstly, I’ll fully input the language by playing the whole story with a question so that the Ss can have a general idea of the story. Then, I will present the story from picture 3 to picture 6. In each picture, I’ll ask Ss to describe the picture in English first and then draw their attentions to thekey parts with questions so that they can predict the story plot better. For example, in picture 5, I’ll draw Ss’ attention to Ken’s trousers, which is obviously not the right size. I will ask Ss to act out what it will be like when a person is wearing trousers that are too big. Thus, the key word “too” is highlighted and the concept of size is showed in a concrete way. After asking Ss to predict what the characters will say, I will play the tape to check the answer. Ss are required to read after the tape when the texts are revealed. In picture 4 and picture 6, I’ll give Ss the chance to guess the prices, which will arouse their enthusiasm of participation. From picture 7 to 9, I will give Ss a free space to show their abilities. I will ask them to read these pictures by themselves. While the Ss are reading from picture 7 to picture 9, I’ll walk around the classroom to c heck how they are doing with the task. When time’s up, I’ll check Ss self-learning result by playing PPT. This time, I’ll ask Ss to read the sentences directly before playing the tape. Ss are required to read the whole story after the tape when all the pictures are presented, so that they can further understand the story as a whole.Step 4 ExerciseIn this step, I will ask Ss to do “Listen and Point”. Ss must point to the corresponding picture and tell me which picture it is that match the dialogues or sentences they hear. By doing this, I can check whether Ss can recognize the languages or not and help Ss get more familiar with the story. And this is the layout design. That’s all for my teaching design of this lesson. Thank you so much for listening!。

Don’t be shy,just tr y!

Good evening. It is an honor to be here today as a judge for thisEnglish speech competition. Speeches are more than just words; they are windows into the souls of speakers, reflections of their intellect, passion, and conviction. As we delve into the speeches presented before us, I would like to pose a series of questions that I believe will not only enhance our understanding but also stimulate deeper reflection among the competitors.Firstly, to the speaker who touched our hearts with a narrative of overcoming adversity, could you elaborate on the specific moments or events that shaped your perspective on resilience? How did these experiences contribute to your growth and the message you wish to impart to the audience?Question 1: "In your speech, you shared a compelling story of overcoming personal challenges. Could you identify the pivotal moments or eventsthat truly transformed your life, and how did they influence your viewon resilience?"Moving on to the speaker who delivered a powerful argument for social change, I must commend you for your articulate presentation. However, I am curious to know more about the research and evidence you cited. How did you ensure the accuracy and relevance of the information you provided? Additionally, what counterarguments did you consider, and how did you address them in your speech?Question 2: "Your speech was persuasive and well-structured. How did you conduct your research, and what measures did you take to ensure the credibility of the information presented? Furthermore, what counterarguments did you anticipate and how did you counter them?"Next, to the speaker who spoke passionately about the importance of education, I found your insights deeply thought-provoking. However, the world is vast and diverse, with varying perspectives on the role of education. How do you believe your message can be universally applicable, and what challenges do you foresee in implementing your vision on a global scale?Question 3: "Your speech highlighted the significance of education. How do you think your message can resonate with individuals from different cultural and economic backgrounds, and what are the potential challenges in making your vision a reality worldwide?"For the speaker who focused on environmental sustainability, your presentation was both informative and inspiring. I am intrigued by the innovative solutions you proposed. How feasible do you think these solutions are, and what role do you believe technology can play in their implementation?Question 4: "Your speech offered innovative solutions for environmental sustainability. How practical are these solutions, and what role do you envision technology playing in their implementation?"To the speaker who shared personal experiences to promote empathy and understanding, your speech was a beautiful blend of storytelling and philosophy. However, empathy is often a complex emotion, and people may react differently to similar situations. How do you suggest we cultivate empathy in ourselves and others, especially in the face of societal divisions?Question 5: "Your speech emphasized the importance of empathy. How can we, as individuals and as a society, foster empathy, particularly in times of division and conflict?"Lastly, to the speaker who presented a vision for the future, your optimism was infectious. However, the road to the future is oftenfraught with uncertainty and unforeseen challenges. How do you plan to stay motivated and dedicated to your vision, and what steps are you taking to prepare for potential obstacles?Question 6: "Your speech painted a hopeful picture of the future. How do you plan to maintain your motivation and dedication to your vision, and what strategies are you employing to prepare for potential challenges?"In conclusion, these questions are not meant to be daunting or critical; rather, they are an opportunity for you to delve deeper into the themes of your speeches and to share more of your thoughts and insights with us.Your responses will not only help us understand your perspectives better but will also inspire us to think critically about the topics at hand.Thank you, and I look forward to hearing your responses. Good luck toall the competitors, and may your speeches leave a lasting impact on us all.Thank you.。

Answer 2: Well, I wonder/could you tell me why you ask me such a question? Answer 3: I don’t think so. Could I have your comments on/opinion about it? Answer 4: This is a tough/challenging question. Unit 8 Asking & Answering Questions

Unit 8 Asking & Answering Questions

Now, we shall discuss the question and answer session from two angles: (1) from the angle of the presenter handling questions (2) from the angle of the questioner raising questions.
1.5 Replying clearly, briefly and positively
Whether one member of the audience raise a question, he or she is probably expecting a succinct, tothe- point answer. If the person spends all the question time in answering this question, others in the audience would become crazy and this would make the presenter look like an idiot. Generally, about ten to twenty seconds is plenty of time to adequately answer a question. There are many kinds of questions, each with its own use. We will discuss how to successfully handle all kinds of questions.

This is a very good question. Thank you for that question. I am glad that this question has been brought up. This is a hard question. This is a big question. I will try to answer this question very briefly. In answer to your question, I would say that… My answer to your first question is… I have only a partial answer to your question. Thank you for that question. This is a challenging question and I am afraid that I can only provide a partial answer to it. Anyway, I’ll try my best to anur questioners

Good morning, esteemed audience. Today, I stand before you not to impart knowledge, but to pose questions—questions that lie at the heart of our current educational system and its future. As we navigate the complexities of the 21st century, it is imperative that we engage in a meaningful dialogue about the direction in which we are heading. So, let us embark on this journey of inquiry together.Question 1: Are We Teaching the Right Skills? In an era where technology is advancing at an unprecedented rate, are we equipping our students with the skills they will need to thrive in the future? Are we focusing too much on rote memorization and standardized tests, or are we fostering critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving abilities? How can we ensure that our educational curriculum aligns with the evolving needs of the job market?Question 2: How Can We Bridge the Digital Divide? With the increasing reliance on digital tools and resources in education, how can we ensure that all students, regardless of their socioeconomic background, have access to the necessary technology and internet connectivity? Is it time to reconsider the traditional classroom model and embrace more inclusive and accessible forms of learning?Question 3: What Role Should Technology Play in Education? As artificial intelligence and machine learning continue to make significant strides, what is the appropriate role for technology in the classroom? Should we be concerned about the potential for technology to replace teachers, or should we see it as a tool to enhance and personalize learning experiences?Question 4: How Do We Address the Needs of Diverse Learners? Our classrooms are increasingly diverse, with students coming from awide range of cultural, linguistic, and socio-economic backgrounds. How can we ensure that our educational system is inclusive and supportive of all learners? What strategies can we implement to address the uniquechallenges faced by students with disabilities, English language learners, and those from marginalized communities?Question 5: Should We Prioritize Academic Excellence or Well-being?In the pursuit of academic excellence, have we lost sight of the importance of student well-being? How can we strike a balance between rigorous academic expectations and the need for mental health support, physical activity, and social development? What role should extracurricular activities play in the overall educational experience?Question 6: How Can We Measure Success in Education?Standardized testing has long been the dominant measure of educational success. Is this the best way to assess a student's abilities and achievements? How can we develop more comprehensive and accurate methods of evaluating student progress and overall educational outcomes?Question 7: What Can We Learn from Other Educational Systems? As educators, are we open to learning from other educational systems around the world? How can we incorporate best practices from different cultures and regions to improve our own educational approach? Conclusion:These questions are not meant to be definitive or exhaustive; they are a starting point for a much-needed conversation. As we move forward, it is crucial that we remain vigilant, open-minded, and willing to adapt our educational practices to meet the needs of our students and society as a whole. Let us not be afraid to ask difficult questions and seek innovative solutions. Together, we can shape the future of education for the better.Thank you for your attention and for joining me in this quest for knowledge and improvement.。

Response to QuestionsAsking for RepetitionPardon, I couldn't hear what you said.I beg your pardon, I didn't catch what you said.I'm sorry I forgot your first question. Would you be so kind as to say it again?I'm not quite surge what your question is.I didn't quite get the last point of your question. You mean, there may be some mistake in the calculation? Are you referring to the significance of the difference? Are you suggesting that the temperature might have affected the results? If I understand you correctly, you are saying/asking...I didn't quite catch that.Could you go over that again?I'm not sure what you're getting at.Welcoming the QuestionWelcome the question by saying "thank you" or commenting on it saying "That’s a good question" or "That's a challenging question."This is a very good question.Thank you for that question.I'm glad this question has been brought up-I appreciate that question. This is a hard question. This is an interesting question. This is a big question.I'd be delighted to answer your question.I'll try to answer this question very briefly. In answer to your question, I would say that...I can only provide a partial answer to that question.Let me try to answer your questions one by one.My answer to your first question is...May I answer your second cjuestion first?I have only a partial answer to your question.Thank you for that question. It's a good budget and we're confident we'll get approval to put it into practice.Answer (2): There is too much supposition in the question for me to give a sound answer. The following are some other examples of answers to challenging questions:Perhaps in another year or so we can answer that question, because these studies are now in progress. We are now working on this problem and, if you agree, I'll answer your question in a few weeks. The only answer I can give at present is to wait a few more years, at which time something better might ultimately come out of all our efforts.I think it will be possible to answer this question when more experiments are completed. The answer to this question needs further study.I hope I will be able to answer your question later. Responding to Improper QuestionI appreciate your interest in my research, but I just don't want to talk about it now. Let's talk about something else.I'd rather not say.Why do you want to know?Sometimes you can relay the question back to the questioner. For example,Before I answer you that question, let me ask you: where do you think we should have the project? In this way, sometimes you encourage the questioner to answer his or her own question, e.g. "What do you think? Are people prepared to pay an extra $ 2 for faster service?" Responding to the Questions You Do Not KnowIf you don't know the answer to a particular question, simply admit that you don't know. Say something like this:"I'm sorry. I don't happen to know the answer to that question, but I'll be happy to check into it for you."Here are some further examples:I don't think I can answer your question.I wish I could answer your question, but unfortunately I have no good answer.I'm not sure that I can answer your question. What I'm going to say is not quite an answer to your question.Another technique to cope with the situation is to direct the attention to another expert who may know it or you can use the audience. Ask if anyone could help the questioner and hence it won't be necessary for you to admit that you do not know the answer. See examples below.I think that question could be better answered by Dr. Liu than by me.I think perhaps Dr. Chen would be better able to answer this question.Prof. Li would be a better person to answer your question since he has done a lot of work in this field.Fortunately, Prof. 'Ma, who is an authority in this area, is 'here.I think no one is more suitable than him to answer your question.Dr. Sawyer is perhaps in a better position to tell us something about it.Perhaps my colleague Dr. Emery here has some better ideas.I think it would be better if Prof. Wu were to make some comments on this matter.Avoid using the following expressions to embarrass the questioner:"I've already answered that but you obviously weren't listening." Instead say something like "I'm sorry I didn't explain that clearly."Avoid talking to one questioner. Look towards the other, side of the conference hall or room and indicate that there is another question. Suggest that as there are several more questioners,' yon could discuss his or her question in more detail after your talk.Referring Back to the QuestionerHaving finished answering questions, you should check that the questioner is satisfied or further elaboration or explanation is called for. The following expressions might be helpful.Did I answer your question?Did I answer you satisfactorily?Did your question get answered?I don't know whether this answered your question.I don't know if this is a satisfactory answer.I hope this may serve as an answer to Dr. Li.I hope this answers ~0ur question.:,Sometimes when question lime is over and ff time permits, you can restate, your main proposition, including any good comments from the audience and ignoring adverse questions or remarks. 这些问题有了答案英语作文Answering These Questions。

As human beings, we are constantly asking questions. We ask questions to learn, to understand, to connect, and to grow. Some questions are simple, while others are complex. Some questions have clear answers, while others require deep thought and contemplation. In this essay, I will explore some common questions that we ask ourselves and provide answers based on my own experiences and observations.1. What is the meaning of life? This is perhaps the most fundamental question that humans have been asking themselves since the dawn of time. While there is no one answer that applies to everyone, I believe that the meaning of life is to find and fulfill our purpose. This purpose may be different for each person, but it often involves making a positive impact on the world, whether it be through our work, relationships, or creative pursuits.2. How can I be happy?Happiness is a subjective experience that is influenced by a variety of factors, including our genetics, environment, and personal beliefs. However, some common strategies for increasing happiness include practicing gratitude, cultivating positive relationships, engaging in activities that bring us joy, and taking care of our physical and mental health.3. What is the key to success?Success can be defined in many ways, but I believe that the key to success is persistence. Whether we are pursuing a career, a relationship, or a personal goal, it is important to keep pushing forward even when faced with obstacles or setbacks. Additionally, success often requires a willingness to take risks and step outside of our comfort zones.4. How can I make a difference in the world?Making a difference in the world can seem like an overwhelming task, but it often starts with small actions that we take in our daily lives. This may include volunteering, donating to charity, advocating for causesthat we believe in, or simply treating others with kindness and respect. We can also make a difference by using our unique skills and talents to contribute to society in meaningful ways.5. What is the purpose of suffering?Suffering is an inevitable part of the human experience, and it can be difficult to find meaning in times of pain or hardship. However, I believe that suffering can serve as a catalyst for growth and transformation. By facing our challenges head-on and learning from our experiences, wecan develop resilience, compassion, and wisdom that can benefit ourselves and others. In conclusion, these questions and their answers are not definitive, but rather a reflection of my own perspective and experiences. Ultimately, the answers to these questions are deeply personal and may vary from person to person. However, by asking ourselves these questions and seeking answers, we can gain a deeper understanding of ourselves and the world around us.。
