今天我们继续学习时间状语从句的引导词until和till，以及具有怀旧意味的not…until结构的用法。

01 until/till用法概述

until和till都是“直到…”的意思，从字面上来看，二者都表示一个动作持续到一定时候。那么与二者连用的动词都必须是延续性的。

之前我们讲过，延续性有两种情况：一是动词本身是延续的；二是短暂性动词的否定状态。

如：

He stayed in her room until/till midnight.

他在她的房间待到了深夜。

He didn't leave her room until/till midnight.

他直至深夜才从她的房间离开。

02 在肯定句中

until/till在肯定句中表示“直到…”，主句的动词必须是延续性动词，表示一个动作直到某个时间才停下来。如：

You may stay here until/till the rain stops.

您可以在雨停之后在离开。

The child remained silent until/till the movie ended.

电影结束之前，那个孩子都很安静。

03 在否定句中（not…until/till结构）

我们一般将n o t…u n ti l/ti l l结构翻译成“直到…才”。句子中必须要用短暂性动词，这样用n o t进行否定后就变成了延续性动词。如：

T h e ch i l d di dn't f a l l a sl e e p u n ti l h i s m o th e r ca m e b a c k.

妈妈回来后，那个小孩才睡着。

此外，当not提前时，要用倒装结构，如：

Not until you mentioned it, did I have any idea of it.

直到你提到它，我才想到它。

04 until和till的小区别

until和till基本可以换用，但until可以位于句首，till则不可以。如：Until he told me the news, I had no idea of it.

直到他告诉我，我都不知道这个消息。

1)Until可用于句首，而till通常不用于句首。

Until you told me, I had heard nothing of what happened.

直到你告诉我以前，出了什么事我一点也不知道。

2)Until when 疑问句中，until要放在句首。

---Until when are you staying? 你呆到什么时候？

--- Until next Monday. 呆到下周一。

05 until/till的强调句

所谓强调句，是指It +be +被强调部分+that（人用who）+其余成分，说话者拎出来一部分句子成分进行着重强调时用。

until/till的强调句如下：

It was not until he told me the news that I had any idea of it.

直到他告诉我，我都不知道这个消息。
