扬州大明寺英文导游词
The Da Ming Temple, located in the eastern outskirts of Yangzhou, is one of the most remarkable temples in China. With a history that stretches back over 1500 years, it is considered both a place of worship and an important landmark of the city's culture and heritage.
The temple was first built during the Northern Wei Dynasty (386 AD- 534 AD) and was reconstructed several times after destruction during wars and natural disasters. The current structure was built in the late Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), and was expanded during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).
The temple covers an area of 20,000 square meters and embodies the architectural style of both the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The temple complex consists of four main parts: the Heavenly King Hall, the Mahavira Hall, a pagoda and the Emperors' palace.
The Heavenly King Hall is the largest hall in the temple and is dedicated to the four Heavenly Kings; each is portrayed in a unique pose and holds a different weapon.
The Mahavira Hall is one of the most important halls in the temple, and is dedicated to Sakyamuni Buddha. It is here that
Buddhist ceremonies are held, and this area is considered the spiritual center of the temple.
The Temple Pagoda is also known as the "Light Pagoda" and stands at the rear of the temple. Built in 957 AD, the pagoda has a height of 68 meters, with seven floors, and contains various Buddhist relics.
The Emperors' Palace lies to the east of the Mahavira Hall and served as the residence of the emperor when he visited the temple. The palace has over 40 rooms, and is decorated with traditional Chinese furnishings and art.
The Da Ming Temple is not only a religious site but also a cultural attraction. The temple contains many valuable historical relics and artworks, including more than 300 statues of Buddha, 500 steles, and Chinese calligraphy works.
Every year, the temple hosts a variety of cultural and religious events, including the "Temple Fair" and "Distributing charity". These events attract people from all over China and the world.
In addition to being a historic site, the Da Ming Temple is also a great place for people to relax and refresh. The temple's serene atmosphere and beautiful surroundings make it an ideal place to spend a quiet afternoon.
If you're planning a trip to Yangzhou, don't miss the opportunity to visit one of its most iconic landmarks, the Da Ming
Temple. The temple is a must-see attraction for anyone interested in Chinese culture, spirituality and traditional artwork.。
