11John was the most famous troublemaker in his town. He didn ’t answer questions and got into lots of fights. He had failed almost every class by the time he got to high school. Everyone thought he was hopeless.I met John for the first time at a weekend training program. All the students at school had been invited to the program which aimed to help them become more active in their communities. At the start of the training, John was standing outside the circle of students. He didn ’t readily join the discussion groups and didn ’t seem to have much to say. But slowly, the discussion drew him in. John had some great ideas and other students in his group welcomed his comments. All of a sudden, he felt like a part of the group, and before long he was treated like a leader. Two weeks later, John and his friends led a group of 70 students to collect food for the needed. They collected a school record: 2,854 cans of food in just two hours.John started showing up at school every day and answered questions from teachers for the first time. He loved and admired the wise man so much that he decided to observe his behavior carefully, believing that if he did everything that the wise man did, then he would also acquire the wise man ’s wisdom. He noticed that the wise man always wore white, and so he went to the market and bought a white rob and wore it every day. The wise man was a vegetarian, and so he stopped eating meat and replaced it with a diet of vegetables. He followed the wise man ’s example in everything he did and was quite sure that he was getting closer to becoming a wise man. After some time, the wise man noticed these changes in his student ’s behavior and asked him why. “I am learning to be just like you,” came the reply. “The white color of my clothes shows the simplicity of my search, the vegetarian food keeps my body clean .”Smiling, the wise man took him to a field where a horse was eating grass. “You have spent all this time looking outside yourself, which is what matters least,” he said. “Do you see that creature there? But why are people left-handed? The answer is in the way the brain works. The brain has two halves — the right half and the left half. The right half controls the left side of the body, and the left controls the right side the body. So right-handed people have a strong left brain, and left-handed people have a strong right brain. The two halves of the brain are about the same size. But each side controls different things. The left side controls language, mathematics, and logic. When you memorize the spelling of words, or when you put things in order, you use your left side. The right side of the brain controls your love of art, color, and music. It is also good at recognizing faces. This does not mean that all artists are left-handed and all accountants are right-handed. There are actually many exceptions. Some right-handers have a strong right brain, and some left-handers have a strong left brain.1. How many people are left-handed?2. Which side of brain do you use when you recognize faces?3. Do you think all artists are left-handed and all accountants are right-handed?Key:1. About 15 percent of the population is left-handed.2. Her devoted husband, Martin, went out and bought her a brand new microwave oven.Christmas approached and Martha got out her Christmas pudding recipe and got all the things ready. When Martha read the microwave’s manual (手册) for the cooking time, she couldn’t believe that ten minutes would be enough for a traditional Christmas pudding. So she decided that she would still follow her normal cooking time of 50 minutes. As Martha was in the sitting-room watching TV, she didn’t hear the pudding spitting in the microwave oven, nor did she see the mini-explosions. Naturally, the pudding was a disaster. In fact the black ball stuck to the bottom of the bowl and Martin had to get a knife to get it off.In a fit of anger, Martha threw the dry Christmas pudding to Kiki, her puppy. One day he went to visit his brother and was astonishedat the beautiful fruit trees. “Look, my brother,” said the gardener, “I will give you an apple tree, the best from my garden, and you, and your children, and your children’s children shall enjoy it.” Then the gardener called his workmen and ordered them to take up the tree and carry it to his brother’s f arm.The next morning the farmer began to wonder where he should plant it. “If I plant it on the hill,” said he to himself, “the wind might shake down the fruit before it is ripe; if I plant it close to the road,passers-by will see it and robe me of its apples — but if I plant it near the door of my house, my children may pick the fruit.” So, after he thought the matter over and over, he planted the tree behind his barn. But the tree bore neither fruit nor flowers the first year nor the second — then the farmer sent for his brother, and said angrily, “You have given me a barren tree instead of a fruitful one!”The gardener laughed and said, “You have planted the tree where it has neither sun nor warmth. A frog fell into the pot while it was sitting on the stove. While it wasn’t his intention to be stuck in a pot of water, he didn’t try to escape. He was comfortable enough as he was.The lady soon turned on the flame to begin boiling the water. As the water’s temperature began to rise, the frog was able to adjust his body temperature accordingly, so he remained in the pot without trying to do anything to change the situation. However, as the water approached its boiling point, the frog’s body temperature could no longer keep up. He finally tried to jump out of the pot, but with water temperature continuing to increase, it was too late for the frog to save himself.Unlike the frog, who waited until the last minute to try to do anything about the problem he was clearly facing, it’s important to predict the future outcomes of the problems and mediate them before they get past the point of no return. You have to avoid wasting time and take proper action before problems get out of hand or become too much to handle.1. What did the lady want to cook?2. Why did the frog not try to get out of the pot at first?3. What do we learn from the story?Keys:1. The lady wanted to cook pasta for her family for dinner.2. It is our most important communication tool. Through language, we can tell other people what we think, how we feel, and what we need. Civilization itself depends on our ability to communicate.Languages survive, grow, disappear, move from place to place, and change with time. Some languages are ancient, and others are new. There are about 6,000 different living languages around the world today, and there are many thousands more that are already extinct. They might sound different, but they are thought to have come from a single ancient language. Some scientists say that people first spoke to one another about two million years ago.Today, our sophisticated languages get fully used in the magazines, novels, science books, and movies that fill our libraries and bookstores. The long stories we can tell separate us from great apes. Other animals may use various methods to communicate, but we humans send complicated messages through space and time. The development of many languages helped humans move forward toward civilization.1. How many different living languages are there today?2. When did people first spoke to one another according to some scientists?3. How does the development of many languages help humans?Keys:1. The weather here in Juárez has become unbearable. With no rains for over a year, the city is suffering from unusually hot weather. Some light showers have been forecast since last month, but all of them have been effective in surrounding areas. Summer has not even started yet, but temperatures have reached 40 degrees centigrade in the past three days. And people have been warned not to go out of their homes — not if you walk on foot, at least — between 11 in the morning and 7 in the evening. Little kids and the elderly are the ones who have suffered the most from this extreme heat wave. They must drink water all the time. To help our audience have a better understanding of this extreme weather, we have invited Prof. Torres from University of Mexico to our studio this evening.1. When did it rain last time in Juárez?2. What are the elderly advised to do?3. What is the speaker doing?Keys:1. A year ago.2. Drink plenty of water./Drink water all the time.3. Hosting a radio program.13Well, I’d love to share with you my personal opinions on city life and life in small towns. I grew up in a small town until I was 18 and then moved to a big city, so I have experienced the good and bad sides of both. I never thought that I would like living in a big city, but I was wrong. After ten years of living in one, I can’t ima gine ever living in a small town again. Surely small towns and big cities both have some problems in terms of transport. In a small town, you have to own a car to make life comfortable. You can’t get around without one because there isn’t any kind of publi c transport. Big cities generally have heavy traffic and expensive parking, but there you have a choice of taking public transport, which is cheaper than driving. So, if you don’t have a car, you’d better live in the city. I also love the exciting life in big cities. I can always enjoy a lot of films, concerts, and other wonderful shows. However, these things are not common in small towns. The final thing I like about large cities is that you can meet different kinds of people. However, you seldom find such a variety of people in a smaller town. I think that living in an area where everyone was just like me would quickly become dull. Of course, safety should be considered, and that’s one area where small towns are better than big cities. Still, I would rathe r be a bit more careful and live in a large city than to feel safe but dull.1. What is the speaker’s opinion on public transport?2. What is good about living in a small town?3. What kind of life does the speaker seem to like most?Keys:1. It’s cheap.2. It’s safer.3. Colourful life.。

如果说中文,学员会得到citation(罚单)。

1The 2024 Beijing Middle School English Oral Exams: What You Need to KnowHey kids! Johnny here to give you the full scoop on the big English oral exams happening next year when you enter middle school. I know a lot of you might be nervous, but don't worry - I've got all the inside info to help you get prepared.First off, what even is this oral exam thing? Basically, it's a speaking test where you'll have to show off your English conversation skills one-on-one with an examiner. No writing, no multiple choice, just you talking it up in English! Scary, I know, but stick with me and you'll be ready to rock it.The exam has two main parts. In the first part, the examiner will ask you some basic questions about yourself - name, age, hobbies, that kind of thing. This is to get you warmed up and feeling comfortable. My advice? Practice introducing yourself out loud at home until it feels super natural. The real meat of the exam is the second part - the role play section. The examiner will give you a situation, like ordering food at a restaurant or asking for directions. Your job is to have a little back-and-forth conversation in English based on that situation. This is where knowing all those daily conversation basics like greetings, polite phrases, and asking questions will really come in handy. Now for the good news - you'll get to prepare a little bit right before your role play turn. The examiner will give you a card explaining the scenario and you'll have 1-2 minutes to think about what you want to say. Use that time wisely to go over key vocabulary and phrases in your head.To get an idea of what kinds of situations might come up, think about daily life stuff like shopping, making plans with friends, talking to a teacher, etc. Practicing role plays with your parents or classmates will help you get comfortable thinking on your feet in English. As for the scoring, you'll get a rating from 0-6 based on factors like pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, and how well you can actually complete the role play tasks. A 6 is total perfection, but don't sweat it if you're not quite there yet. Just aim to do your best! Now for my biggest tip: the more you practice speaking English out loud, the better you'll do. It's a skill, just like dribbling a basketball or playing the piano. The more you do it, the more natural it becomes. So here are some ways to get that practice in:Watch English movies, shows, YouTube videos etc and then try repeating what you hear out loud. It'll help get your mouth used to forming those English words and sounds.Find a study buddy and do role plays together taking turns playing each part. Make it fun by acting out crazy situations!Keep an English diary or video journal where you record yourself speaking about your day. It'll feel weird at first but stick with it.Sing your favorite English songs at the top of your lungs and really annoy your parents! When you go out to run errands, make an effort to ask simple questions in English to store clerks or servers. The more real-world practice the better. Finally, be sure to take advantage of any English camps, tutoring, or speaking practice offered by your school. Those are golden opportunities!I know learning a new language can seem overwhelming at first, but I promise it gets easier and easier the more you stick with it. Just keep an open mind, don't be afraid to make mistakes, and keep that mouth moving! You've got this! Put in the practice, get comfortable with those basic conversation skills, and you'll pass that oral exam with flying colors. Then you can start focusing on the real fun stuff - like actually using English to make new friends from around the world!Let me know if you have any other questionsI'm happy to help my fellow elementary schoolers get ready to conquer middle school. Just remember - practice makes perfect, so get out there and start flapping those English lips!Your pal,Johnny篇2Certainly! Here's an article on the 2024 Beijing Middle School English Oral Examination, written in English from a primary school student's perspective, with a length of around 2,000 words. The 2024 Beijing Middle School English Oral Exam: A Primary Student's PerspectiveWow, can you believe it? The 2024 Beijing Middle School English Oral Exam is just around the corner! As a primary school student, the thought of taking such an important test is both exciting and nerve-wracking. Let me tell you all about it!First things first, what exactly is this exam? Well, it's a big deal for all the sixth-graders in Beijing who are about to enter middle school. The exam tests our English speaking skills, and our performance will play a crucial role in determining which middle school we get admitted to. Pretty cool, right? Now, I know what you're thinking – speaking English, that's easy-peasy! But let me tell you, this exam is no walk in the park. The examiners are super strict, and they expect us to speak like native English speakers. Talk about pressure! But fear not, my friends! Our teachers have been working t篇3The Big Beijing English Speaking TestHi everyone! My name is Xiaoming and I'm in 5th grade. I'm here to tell you all about the big English speaking test thatmiddle school students in Beijing have to take this year. It's a really important exam that helps decide which middle school you can go to. My older sister Meimei is in 8th grade so she has to take it soon. She's been practicing like crazy!First, let me explain what the test is all about. It's called the Beijing Middle School English Oral Exam and it tests students' English speaking and listening skills. The exam has two main parts - the listening part and the speaking part. For the listening section, you have to listen to recordings of people speaking English and answer multiple choice questions. The recordings cover all kinds of topics like daily life, school, traveling, and more. You need to listen carefully and understand what is being said. My sister says the listening questions can be pretty tough sometimes! But the speaking part is even harder. For this section, you get paired up with another student. You don't know who your partner will be until the test day. Then you have to complete a bunch of different speaking tasks together using only English! One task is called "Integrated Skills" where you read a short paragraph, listen to a recording about the same topic, and then have a discussion with your partner. You get marked on how wellyou understand the reading and listening materials and how clearly you can discuss it.Another task is called "Express Yourself" where you get a prompt asking you to explain or describe something. You have one minute to prepare and then one minute to speak. An example prompt could be "Describe your favorite outdoor activity and why you enjoy it." You get marked on how well you can organize your thoughts and express yourself in English. But I think the hardest part is the "Interactive Communication" task. For this one, you and your partner get a situation and have to act it out through a role-play conversation! The situations can be anything from ordering food at a restaurant to discussing plans for an upcoming school event. You have to really think on your feet and communicate clearly with your partner. My sister has been doing practice roleplays with her friends and she said some of the situations were really funny, like being a tourist trying to ask for directions. I can't wait until I get to middle school so I can do roleplays like that too! From what I've heard, the examiners are really strict in marking the speaking test. They check your pronunciation, fluency, grammar, vocabulary - everything! Meimei has beenworking super hard to improve her English by watching movies, listening to music, reading books, and practicing conversations. The results of the English oral exam, along with some other test scores, decide which middle school you can attend in Beijing. The top students get into the best schools. That's why it's such an important test. Meimei really wants to go to the same great school that my cousin goes to, so she has been studying like crazy.I've been trying to help Meimei practice her English too. Sometimes we do pretend roleplays where I am the examiner and she is the student. I make her describe pictures or explain processes to me in English. I'll ask her all sorts of random questions too so she gets ready for anything! It makes me a little nervous thinking about having to take such a big English test when I'm in middle school. But I'm trying hard in my English classes now so I'll be prepared. I watch English movies and TV shows, read English books, and practice conversations with Meimei. Hopefully by building my English skills now, the middle school oral exam won't be too scary for me in a few years!Meimei's exam is coming up in just a few weeks. She has been studying so hard but she's still really stressed. SometimesI'll make her a nice snack or we'll play a game together to help her relax. I just try to keep her spirits up and remind her that she's going to do great!I'll let you know how she does on the big exam. Keeping my fingers crossed that she gets an awesome score to get into her dream school! And I'll keep on practicing my English so I'll be ready when it's my turn. Wish me luck too! The English oral exam may be a few years away for me, but I'm going to start getting prepared now. Fighting!篇42024 Beijing Middle School English Speaking Test - An Elementary Kid's ViewWow, can you believe the 2024 Beijing middle school English oral exam is just around the corner? Remember, this exam is just one step on your journey to becoming a master of the English language. Wit篇6My Big Test Adventure!Hi there! My name is Xiaoming and I'm a 6th grader here in Beijing. I just had the craziest experience and I can't wait to tell you all about it!A few weeks ago, my teacher told our class that we'd be taking the big English Oral Examination at the end of the semester. I'm talking about the huge test that all 6th graders in Beijing have to pass to get into a good middle school. My heart started pounding just thinking about it!You see, English has always been pretty tough for me. I can read and write okay, but speaking is where I struggle. My tongue gets all twisted up whenever I try to speak English out loud. I wasreally nervous about failing the oral exam and letting my parents down. But my mom and dad kept encouraging me, saying "Xiaoming, if you study hard, you'll do great!" So that's what I did. Every night after school, I practiced my English conversations with my little brother. We'd pretend he was the examiner and I was the student being tested. He'd fire all sorts of random questions at me like:"What's your favorite food?""Describe your bedroom.""Tell me about a fun trip you went on."At first, I stumbled over my words a lot. But gradually, I got better at thinking and responding in English. My confidence started to grow! The big day finally arrived - exam day. I could barely sleep the nig。
