I will present my efforts to you and welcome any correction.The title of my paper is An Experimental Research on the Effect of Lexical Chunk Approach on Senior High Students’ English Writing Competence. Three key words (Why, How and What) may give an outline of my presentation. That is, why I choose this theme of my research, how the study is designed and what can be obtained from the research.Research Orientation (Objective)As is stated in the title, the present thesis aims to probe the effect of lexical chunk approach on senior high school students’ English writing competence. It also aims to explore some practical methodological suggestions for the English writing teaching in senior high school.Rationale for the study (Why)Why I choose this topic is due to two reasons.Firstly, senior students meet problems in English writing which is a basic skill in English. Or in other words, the current situation of senior high students’English writing is far from satisfactory. ConclusionsIn Chapter 1the author presents a brief introduction of the whole thesis by pointing out the research orientation, rationale of the research, and raising the research questions.Chapter 2 reviews the related studies on English writing at home and abroad. The author introduces six types of English writing teaching approaches which are commonly used in senior high school at home. Besides, the characteristics, advantages and disadvantages of these English writing teaching approaches are also introduced.Chapter 3 is the theoretical framework of this study. The author presents the lexical theory as the theoretical basis of this study, including the Definition of Lexical Chunk, Classifications of Lexical Chunks and the Functions of Lexical Chunks. Especially, the relationship between lexical chunks and written discourse is pointed out. In the last section, Nattinger & DeCarrico, Michael Lewis and Alison Wray’s theories of lexical chunk are introduced in detail, from which we can see the proposition, suggestions, principles and pedagogical implications of the approaches.Chart 4tells how the research is designed. This study mainly consists of 4 parts—participants, instruments, instruction and data collection.The subjects were 93 students from two natural classes of Grade 2 in Fucheng Senior High School. They were classed randomly into the classes according to the placement test.Four instruments were used in the study. They were questionnaire, tests (a pre-test and a post-test), students’ compositions and an interview.The questionnaire, which was modified from Huangyan, in her study A Survey on the Use of Lexica1 Chunks in English Writing by Senior High School Students, was written in Chinese. It aimed at exploring the subjects’ awareness of lexical chunk in their learning, lexical application in their writing and the problems existing in their writing, which would provide useful information for the future teaching and learning.The pre-test and the post-test were the unified examinations in Heyuan city. The papers were designed by experts, the compositions of the tests were graded by a group of teachers with the requirements and the strict marking scheme in unified.The data, like total words of the composition, the number of the lexical chunks used correctly in writing and the total words of the chunks, was collected from students’ compositions with the purpose of assessing the frequency of lexical chunks in writing.The author used some prepared questions to interview about 20 interviewees from different levels and wrote down the replies. It helps to examine the effect of the lexical chunk instruction, get further information about the instruction, like learners’attitude to the lexical approach, learning strategies of lexical chunks, difficulties I learning and applying lexical chunks as well as their suggestions.The experiment fell into 3 fhasesStep 1: carry out the pre-test; collect and analyze the data of the pre-test; carry out the questionnaire;Step 2: two kinds of English writing teaching were implemented in EG and CGStep 3: carry out the post-testThe main differences between the instruction in EG and CG are as followings. 三、文献综述的基本特征
1、综合性。
因为是对某一时期的同一课题所有主要研究成果的综合概括，所以要尽可能地把所有重要研究成果搜集到手并认真地加工、整理和分析。
2、描述性。
文献综述虽然是对各种流派的观点作的介绍，但是也应该保持这些观点的“原味”这就要求对被介绍的观点做客观性的描述。
3、评价性。
文献综述不能使对前人的成功进行简单地罗列，要用自己的专业知识并结合自己的眼界见识作出评价，表明自己的观点和主张。
