The procedures of carrying dangerous cargo on board is as follows:

1.The information of the dangerous cargo should be provided by the shipper. The information

includes the followings:

(1)Packing, classes and UN No.

(2)Tons to be loaded

(3)Country of production and country of destination

(4)Notices on loading, care on board and discharging

2.When loading and discharging the dangerous cargo, precautions should be taken for the safe

operation.

While loading:

(1)Check the correct technical names in documents and correct marks.

(2)Check the proper use of handling gear

(3)Check the carful and safe stowage

(4)Check if cargo is carefully separated.

While discharging:

(1)Take safety measures to discharge dangerous cargo

(2)Check the proper use of handling gear

(3)Check the complete unloading

During the voyage:

(1)Check the hold ventilators

(2)Check the hatch covers

(3)Check the temperature in the hold

2. Describe the precautions before entering an enclosed space.

There may be filled with dangerous gas in an enclosed space. The gas is liable to cause explosion or harmful to the persons entering it if he does not take safety measures.

The normal procedures for entering an enclosed space is first ventilate the space and put on protective clothing and breathing apparatus.

In case of an oil spill on board, actions should be taken according to the SOPEP.

Send out oil spill signals to muster the oil clearance team to fight against the spillage.

Report the spillage to the local pollution control.

•Yes, I can .There are nine classes dangerous cargoes according to IMDG Code. For example, class 1-Explosive; class 2-Gases, calss-3 flammable liquid and so on.

2. What kind of cargo is classified as flammable cargo?

•Liquid or solid substances usually with low flash point or ignition point are classified as flammable cargo by IMDG Code.

3.Please describe the general nature of general cargo.

•Cargo with or without packings, except bulk cargo, are all called general cargo. Each lot of cargo should be specially stowed in cargo hold, noting and conscious of the type and properties, including weight, package and measurement of the cargo.

4. Please describe the general nature of bulk cargo.

•It usually refers to solid bulk cargo and liquid bulk cargo. They are homogeneous cargo without packings.

5. What kind of cargo is canvas sling suitable for lifting?

•Canvas sling is suitable for lifting bags of grain/rice/coffee, etc

6. What kind of cargo is chain sling suitable for lifting?

•Chain sling is suitable for lifting logs/iron/rails. etc.
