Passage 1Over 70 percent of the “double single-child couples”in China need help from their parents in taking care of their own kids, according to a recent survey.Women of China magazine and a consulting company carried out a survey recently on young couples of the “single-child”generation, the Morning Post reports. The couples surveyed were around 29 and have been married for three years on average, with university education and monthly income of 4,000 yuan($531). Among them, 43.5 percent have kids. Results show that 71.9 percent of the young couples have help from their parents in taking care of their kids.Grown up as the “single-child”,the only child in a family since the family planning policy which was adopted in 1979, this generation depends much on their parents. The parents of the “single-child” generation focused more on their children's physical well-being rather than their attitudes and values, according to some psychologists. The research also found that the “double single-child couples” follow a rather traditional value system.Survey shows that 27.5 percent of them got married after dating for one to two years, 25.2 percent two to five years, and 20 percent didn't tie the knot until dating for five years. Also, 30 percent of the couples were schoolmates, while 43.8 percent were introduced bysomeone.Since their marriage is based on enduring relationships, 65.2 percent of the husbands and 62.9 percent of the wives think that compromise(妥协)and tolerance(宽容) are necessary in their marriage. Meanwhile, 21.7 percent of the husbands and 37.1 percent of the wives support the idea that happiness is the key standard for a marriage.【语篇解读】本文主要介绍了让父母照顾孩子的社会现象。

So he walked up to his teacher. “Miss Evans, I happened to find this ticket on the floor near the bookcase.I think the one who lost it will look for it. And these are mine,” he said, dropping his six tickets into the box. When he turned around to leave, the teacher stopped him.“Karson, I’d like you to have another ticket!” Miss Evans said. Karson was amazed and wondered why. Miss Evans smiled and signed to the class to quiet down, “Karson handed in the golden ticket he had just found. I think he is honest and deserves another one!” The class burst into loud applause. Karson happily went back to his seat, eagerly expecting the ticket drawing. He still wanted his name to be picked, but he would feel OK even if it wasn’t.After all, making the right choice did make him feel great!附:听力录音材料Text 1W: How is your day going?M: I’m looking for a job. Most of what I’m going to say is based on research done by Professor Susan Meadow. She’s written about her work in a book called Hearing Gesture: How Our Hands Help Us Think. It’s on your book list. Professor Meadow has spent a long time studying gestures. We usually don’t even notice how we’re using our hands when we talk. But our hands and our eyes and even how we move our bodies all help us to communicate. The first point I’d like to make is that everybody gestures, including even people who have been blind from birth. So even someone who has never seen a gesture will use their hands when they’re speaking. So scientists have concluded that gesturing is not something that we learn from other people. It’s something that we do naturally, and that we’re all born with.。

The life of the little elephant was in great danger. But thankfully, people living nearby heard the sad cries of the mother elephant. They immediately rushed over to see what had happened. Then the kind-hearted villagers tried their best to get the mother away for a while using bananas, in order to remove some of the soil stopping her from getting the baby out. At last, the mother tightly wrapped hertrunk around the baby’s body and pulled him out. Then the tired mother and her baby happily walked side by side as they continued their journey.。

I always dreamed of studying abroad to learn at a world﹣class university while further exploring the grounds on which these nations achieved new milestones of development with each passing day.To study abroad after my graduation, I could not stop seeking my dream. To take the first step, I did some brainstorming and explored opportunities on the Internet and finally decided to go for China. There were a number of reasons behind it﹣its advanced education system and thousands of centuries of rich culture inspired me to study there. The primary one was my curiosity how a nation has left many nations behind in a short time at its fast pace of development. So just like that, I applied, along with some of my friends, for a master's degree program at Communication University of China. I was the only one who got selected in the program and in addition, the Chinese Scholarship Council sponsored all of my expenses. This good news was welcomed by my family. This is my seventh month in Beijing. In my experience so far, one thing that appeared to be missing was the internship(实习) which I tried to find because I want to work here after completion of my studies. After some struggles I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to work as an intern with the Center for China and Globalization (CCG). It's very exciting to work on their team as a researcher. Now I can proudly say that my decision to choose China as a study destination was the best decision I have ever made.(1)What does the author intend to do in Paragraph 1?________A Add some background information.B Summarize the main idea of thetext. When people learn to drive, they subconsciously(潜意识地) absorb the "rules of the road". The rules, however, rely heavily on common sense. They can be broken in anemergency, or help to avoid an accident. As a result, when accidents happen, it is not always clear who is at fault. All this causes a big problem for people to build autonomous vehicles (AVs). They want AVs to be able to share the roads smoothly and safely without human drivers in predictable ways. That means setting the rules of the road in an exact way that machines can understand. The problem, says Dr Karl of an AV firm, is that every company is doing this in a different way.Last year, Dr Shashua and his colleagues published a first attempt to set a standard set of rules called "Responsibility Sensitive Safety". Last month Voyage, another AV company, made a similar proposal(提议), called "Open Autonomous Safety", which also explains the correct, safe behavior for vehicles in a range of circumstances. This is all a good start, says Dr Karl. It will take years rather than months for the industry to work as one around a standard, he predicts. But he is optimistic that this will happen eventually, because discussions are already under way and many people working in the field of AVs consider sharing and open﹣source to be the second nature. One area where sharing would speed up the development of a safety standard is "edge cases"﹣rare events that tax the capabilities (能力) of autonomous systems, such as unexpected behavior by other drivers, plastic bags blowing in front of a vehicle and so on. Because such events occur occasionally, and computers lack common sense to decide how to respond, training AVs to handle edge cases is hard. But by sharing with each other data from edge cases that have actually happened, AV firms can test their systems in simulators(模拟装置) to see how they would respond, and adjust them where needed, benefiting from each other's experience.(1)What do we know about the "rules of the road"?________A They are shared by all AVs.B They remain unchangeable all the time.C They can be ambiguous when accidents occur.D They make it easy to decide who is to blame in accidents..(2)Which of the following might Dr. Karl agree with?________A Common standards will surely be set in the near future.B Companies should set road rules for AVs separately.C We should decide on correct, safe behavior for vehicles in all events.D People may work on standard road rules for AVs by sharing and joint efforts..(3)What do "edge cases" in paragraph 4 refer to?________A Vital situations.B Infrequent situations.C Commonsituations. D Emergency situations..(4)What is the passage mainly about?________A Safe driving rules for AVs are under way.B The significance of the "rules of the road".C The necessity of standard rules for AVs.D How road rules are special to AVs.第二节(满分10 分)根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项.选项中有两项为多余选项.5. To avoid that, make a habit of not using your phone for at least 30 minutes before you close your eyes."When you're bored, four different areas of your brain activate and work together to pull in random thoughts and combine them in unique ways," says psychologist Larry Rosen, author of The Distracted Mind.
