A Visit to the Wuyi Mountains
1 The Wuyishan Scenic Area is located in northern Fujian Province, on China's southeastern coast. It is a typical Danxia landform, situated on the southwestern slope of the northern section of the Wuyi Mountains. Its main attractions are the Nine-bend Stream and 36 peaks. The stream flows down the mountain in a zigzag way, and the 36 peaks are all of red sandstone. The highest peak is Dawang, standing at the mouth of the Nine-bend Stream, and there are also the Goddess Peak and Fishing Terrace, with their reflections on the surface of the stream forming a contrast of green water and red mountain.
