When Linton puts an end to their friendship, Catherine becomes ill and then dies in childbirth . • Heathcliff seeks revenge by wooing Edgar’s sister , Isabella and cheating the Earnshaws out of their family home , Wuthering Heights ; he also takes the Linton home , Thrushcross Grange . • The story ends when the ghost of Catherine comes for Heathcliff and he dies , laving the two houses to their rightful owners .

Even so ,the dog did not stop loving her ,and when Emily died , it slept in her empty room , moaning . • Whuthering Heights was published a year before Emily died . It was a succss , although the cruelty of the characters upset many readers . It is still a very popular book and has been adapted for television , radio and film many times .
