儒家思想长期以来影响和规范着中国人们的思想和行为,它影响了赛珍珠本人,同时它也融入到赛珍珠中国题材的小说中。本文将依据儒家思想中三组重要的关系来探讨赛珍珠《大地三部曲》中的儒学思想。
This thesis,first of all,discusses the relation between man and nature inThe Trilogy.According to Confucianism, Heaven includes both the objective natural world and some spiritual existence. InThe Good Earththe physical harmony between man and land and spiritual inseparability of them reflected the relation between man and nature in Confucianism. The arrangement of Wang Lung’s rooting in land and Wang the Tiger’s leaving land and Wang Yuan,s returning to land signifies Mrs. Buck’s positive opinion on the belief that human beings should root themselves in land.
三部曲里人与人之间的关系与三纲对人际关系的要求是一致的,三纲是儒家思想里对父子关系,君臣关系(泛指地位高和地位低的人之间的关系)以及夫妇关系的规范原则。五常“仁义礼智信”也是对人们思想和道德的重要评价标准,在三部曲里也有体现。
三部曲里亦多次涉及王龙三代人的信仰问题。他们对所谓的天和其他的神没有绝对的信仰,相反他们更相信只有人自己才能把握自己的命运,他们对祖先的祭祀揭示了中国人精神的最终归宿。这与儒家思想作为一种人本主义哲学并强调自我修身是一致的。而赛珍珠在自己的自传里也表达了类似的观点。
儒家思想要求人与自然,人与人以及人与自身的和谐,人只有努力作到这些才能实现中庸之道,才能实现儒家天人合一的最高理想。在三部曲里只有那些达到和谐实现中庸之道的人才实现了自我超越和ห้องสมุดไป่ตู้生的价值,这一点证明了赛珍珠对中庸理想的向往。

Abstract
Confiicianism, which for long has influenced and governed the thoughts and behaviors of Chinese people,influenced Pearl S. Buck greatly and found its way into her major Chinese works. This thesis aims at exploring Confucianism in her masterpiece,The House of Earthtrilogy. It analyzesThe Trilogyon the basis of three main aspects of Confucianism.
The Trilogytouched upon the belief of the three generations of the Wang Family. They had no real faith in so-called Heaven and other gods. Instead they believe that only human beings themselves can master their own fate. Their paying respects to the dead elders at certain time disclosed their spiritual destination. All these comply with Confucianism that is a philosophy of humanity and focuses on self-cultivation. Pearl Buck expressed similar idea in her biography.
本文首先讨论三部曲里人与自然的关系。儒家思想的核心观念之一是天人合一。天既包括客观的大自然,也指涉某种超自然的精神存在。《大地》里人与土地在物质上的和谐和精神上的不可分割体现了儒家思想里人与自然的关系。三部曲里由王龙扎根于土地到王虎离开土地再到王原回到土地的安排体现了赛珍珠对人应该扎根于土地的信念的肯定。
Confiicianism requires harmony between man and nature, man and man, and man and himself so that man can achieve the doctrine of mean,which leads to the Confucian ideal: unity of man and nature. InThe Trilogyonly those who maintain the harmony between these relations and achieve the doctrine of mean realized self-transcendence and their own value of life,which proves Mrs. Buck’s ideal of arriving at the doctrine of the mean.
InThe Trilogythe relation between man and man conforms to The Three Cardinals of Confucianism, which governs the relation between father and son, husband and wife,and king and minister (referring generally to people at higher position and people at lower position). The Five Constant Virtues“Ren Yi Li Zhi Xin,,,significant standards to estimate the thoughts and morals of people, also find its way intoThe Trilogy.
