If we have to prepare the students to effectively translate their research into English written form, it is better to use English as an instructional language rather than using any other medium.
This course involves not about the research process itself。 The purpose is to show students how to translate their research activities into written reports that conform to the expectations of the English-speaking scientific/academic community
Computer text books – Advanced level.
Even though the translated versions of those text books are available, students feel it is very difficult to translate those scientific terms into Chinese language. Sometime students are mislead when the correct translations are not provided. Using English as an instructional language can correct those misunderstandings.

Many of the advanced technical books are written (in English) in the US and the Taiwan bookstores get the copy right and they do reprint for Taiwan situation. Ex: Programming language text books,
Since the conventions are fairly consistent, it would be good to use English as an instructional language rather than any other language.

Even in the field of Science and Engineering, the Ph.D dissertation must be prepared using English language.
I will present some points based on my experience and the response from the students at present and the previous years.

communication skills for Engineers. Focusing on the writing
skills and also little bit on the Speaking skills.
One common language that is used in all the fielof an experimental research report is highly conventionalized, a fact that represents a great advantage for non-native speakers as well as for their language instructors. The conventions are fairly consistent across a wide variety of scientific disciplines.

The textbooks for most of the courses in the field of science are in English, and if we expect the students to read the text books in English and the class presentation slides are in English, why not use English as an instructional language? It would definitely help the students prepare better.
