①Organizations need their managerial skills and abilities more than ever in uncertain,
complex, and chaotic times. 在不确定、复杂和混乱的时代,组织比以往任何时候都
更需要管理技能和能力。
②Managerial skills and abilities are critical in getting things done. If work isn't getting
done, they must find out why and get things back on track 管理技能和能力是完成任务

③Managers affect employee productivity and loyalty, financial performance,
organizational value. They decreased or increased engagement.管理者影响员工的生产

Someone who coordinates and oversees the work of other people so that organizational goals can be accomplished. (not personal achievement but help others do their work) 工作协调和监督他人工作以实现组织目标的人。

How can managers be classified in organizations?
•First-line Managers - Individuals who manage the work of non-managerial employees.
第一线经理——管理非管理层员工工作的个人。
Supervisors, shift managers, district managers, department managers, office managers
Middle Managers - Individuals who manage the work of first-line managers. 中层经理
——管理一线经理工作的个人。
Regional managers, project leader, store manager, division manager
•Top Managers - Individuals who are responsible for making organization-wide decisions and establishing plans and goals that affect the entire organization. 高级经理-负责制定

Where Do Managers Work?
•Organization - A deliberate arrangement of people assembled to accomplish some specific purpose (that individuals independently could not accomplish alone). 组织——为达到某种特定目的而特意安排的人员(个人独立完成不了的)。
