Ⅰ.完形填空
Before discussing this topic, the replacement of dead people through cloning, a big misunderstanding has to be pointed out. Cloning can only produce __1__ identical humans but it can't __2__ that the personal beliefs or goals will be similar to the __3__,too. This means for example that even if somebody would have a baby whose embryo (胚胎)was enhanced with __4__ for musical talent it isn't guaranteed that this baby will someday become a famous __5__. The child may have musical talent but what he makes out of these __6__,whether he uses them or not, is up to __7__. If it is not interested in taking piano lessons, for example, the talent will stay __8__. The problem is the same when somebody would try to replace a loved one.__9__ expectations on how the character will be might lead to frustration. Of course the outward appearance of the clone will be exactly the same but the personality will be __10__ different and that's the critical point here. The clone can never really be a __11__ for another person. Also we have to ask us if it is justifiable from the ethical side. Cloning people to __12__ others is somewhat similar to having another baby just to create a perfect donor for the already existing sibling that is __13__. How would you __14__ if your parents someday tell you that you were only born for your brother or sister and that you wouldn't be here now if your __15__ wouldn't have needed your help or wouldn't have died?

Baby girls make their way to dolls as soon as they can crawl(爬),and boys will head for the toy cars,a study has shown. The findings-the first to show consistent differences in very young babies-suggest there is a biological basis for their preferences.
Psychologists Dr Brenda Todd carried out an experiment involving 90 babies aged 9 months to 36 months. They were allowed to choose from seven toys. Some were boys' toys-a car,a digger,a ball and a blue teddy(泰迪熊).The rest were girls' toys a pink teddy,a dolly and a cooking set. They were placed a meter away from the toys, and could pick whichever toy they liked.Their choice and the amount of time they spent playing with each toy were recorded.
Of the youngest children(9 to 14 months),girls spent much longer time playing with the doll than boys, and boys spent much more time with the car and the ball than the girls did.Among the two-and three-year-olds,girls spent 50 percent of the time playing with the doll while only two boys briefly touched it.The boys spent almost 90 percent of their time playing with cars, which the girls barely touched. There was no link between the parents' views on which toys were more appropriate for boys or girls, and the children's choices.
Dr Brenda Todd said,“Children of this age are already exposed to much socialization.Boys may be given‘toys that go’while girls get toys they can care for, which may help shape their preferences. But these findings are consistent with the former idea that children show intrinsic(内在的)interest in particular kinds of toys. There could be a biological basis for their choices.Males through evolution have been adapted to moving objects, probably through hunting instincts(本能),while girls prefer warmer colors such as pink, the color of a newborn baby.”

Many renowned painters worked in Antwerp during the city's heyday(全盛期)and Peter Paul Rubens is undoubtedly the most famous of them.Known as Rubens House, the palace-like residence and studio where Rubens worked and lived from 1616 until his death in 1640 is now one of Antwerp's most visited museums.
Almost all of the works Rubens and his pupils created in the Rubens House have been spread over major museums across the whole world, but there is still an impressive collection well worth the visit.Besides paintings from the master himself you will find other works of art and furniture from the 17th century as well as paintings from his pupils including works by Jacob Jordaens and Anthony Van Dyck.
The Rubens House was not only a studio but also a meeting place for the rich and famous. His clients included wealthy merchants, diplomats(外交官)and noblemen, including royals, who often visited his studio to see how a work was progressing. There was even a special viewing area where visitors could watch the artists at work.
Rubens bought the house at the beginning of the 17th century after his eight-year long stay in Italy.Influenced by Italian architecture,he rebuilt the building into an Italian styled palace and moved in the house in 1616.
The house also featured a beautiful garden and entrance. After his death the building was sold. The new owners reorganized the building considerably and in 1937 when the building was bought by the city of Antwerp it hardly resembled the original structure.
The impressive portico(门廊),which connected the studio and the residence,is one of the few parts that survived.Other parts have been carefully restored and reconstructed based on original plans and paintings of the house.
