He rose to be Editor-in-Chief and introduced a range of iconic and extremely popular characters. When DC Comics brought superheroes back into their comics in the 1950s, Timely Comics had to react. The company changed its name to Marvel, and Stan Lee was given the job of creating a series of new comic-book characters that would compete.Stan already had a few ideas that he was keen to develop, and he introduced Fantastic Four to comic-reading Americans. The new heroes were an immediate hit, and Stan Lee could see that with careful and detailed planning, the new market could be well served by Marvel. As the new market developed, Stan Lee stuck to his ideas, and came up with a new approach to storytellingthrough comics. Stan could see that comic-book fans wanted more than just illustrated stories. They wanted larger than life characters, but with a lot of humanity and weaknesses. These new fans wanted to be part of a community where they felt involved with the whole process of comic book creation. Stan introduced credits for writers, illustrators and letterers. Each step of the process was explained, and fans soon developed loyalty(忠诚)to particular writers or artists. The energy and commitment that Stan brought to this new world soon resulted in imaginative new characters. In cooperation with others, Stan introduced Hulk, Thor, Iron Man, the X-Men, Doctor Strange, and Daredevil. These superheroes lived in a universe they all shared. Creative and cooperative.CHosting an international sports event is an important thing that has to be prepared well. Due to that, many opinions exist.Firstly, positive views need to be talked about. When a country gets to host such a famous event, it will probably get well-known by other nations, and surely that can help the country a lot. For instance, the government and residents have a chance to use the opportunity to advertise their culture to foreign people. Above all, by doingthat, the country's economy might increase sharply during the event. Besides, it will satisfy some people's wish to meet famous sports players. They have a high rate of talking to their favorite players whom they really want to talk to once in their life. However, the risk of hosting a big event still exists. An important event is not necessarily good at all. That is why there is a debate about this topic. If a country can't be able to prepare for the event in a period, they have to do as many ways as possible to finish preparation on time, and serious results may happen. The most obvious thing is that people attending that event will have a bad experience and are sure to make grumbles. This then affects the country's image. For example, Qatar is a country that will host the 2022 World Cup. The government has to rush to finish building big stadiums, over 6,000 migrant workers sacrificing(牺牲)their lives for that. Hearing the sad news, some people around the world disagree to go to Qatar to attend the World Cup. The result is that Qatar has been badly affected. In conclusion, hosting an international sports event is both good and bad, and good things or bad things depend on that country's attitude and responsibility.8. What might benefit most from hosting an international sports event in a country?A. Advertising.B. Economy.C. Fans.D. Players.9. Why do people have different opinions about hosting big events?A. Because even important events are not always good.B. Because countries don't prepare for events well.C. Because people present often have bad experiences.D. Because building big stadiums costs too much money.10. What does the underlined word "grumbles" mean in paragraph 3?A. Proper plans.B. Possible challenges.C. Poor comments.D. Great contributions.11. What's the author's attitude to hosting international sports events?A. Positive.B. Negative.C. Critical(批评的).D. Neutral(中立的).DOn Tuesday, Australian Broadcasting Corporation was informed about the patented device(设备)that is developed by Len Humphreys and Thomas Maschmeyer, Sydney University professors, to process plastic. The pair of Australian scientists have come off with the solution to the significant problem in today's environment that is the recycling of plastic. Plastic is the only thing that currently cannot be recycled. The two scientists have invented a device called Catalytic Hydrothermal Reactor. The method that can deal with plastic is known as the Catalytic Hydrothermal Reactor(Cat-HTR). Humphreys said to Australian Broadcasting Corporation that the new device could turn plastic into fuel or remade new plastic with the process that is known as chemical recycling. By the process of chemical recycling, the plastic changes at a molecular(分子)level, and after that, it changes the plastic into oil.Humphreys also said that the Cat-HTR is different from physical recycling as you don't have to separate the plastic according to the type and color. The device could change the plastic back to the liquid and the chemical that they were formed. The device could also change the plastic into petrol or any different kinds of plastic, according to Humphreys. The Cat-HTR could recycle everything from milk boxes to wetsuits according to the report. The product is going to be introduced in the United Kingdom by the company Licella as the company is pushing the technology into the market. This product is an emergency requirement all around the globe to reduce the waste as every year, and only ten percent of the 3.5 tons of plastics that are thrown away are recycled. Due to the increasing misuse, the plastic was almost banned from the market; still, the issue is not solved, and the new device may reduce the problem.12. Which of the following is the best title for the text?A. A New Way to Recycle PlasticB. A New Device Cat-HTRC. The Future of Plastic ProductsD. Environment Pollution and Plastic13. What can we know about plastic according to the text?A. Wetsuits are all made from plastic.B. Plastic can be turned into petrol easily.C. Everything can be recycled except plastic so far.D. Plastic has been banned from the market completely.14. What can we know from what Humphreys said?A. The Cat-HTR recycles plastic using a physical way.B. The plastic changes at an atom level using the Cat-HTR.C. The Cat-HTR has the ability to turn the plastic into petrol.D. Only plastic of a certain kind can be recycled by the Cat-HTR.15. Why did Licella plan to introduce the Cat-HTR?A. Because the Cat-HTR can recycle milk boxes and wetsuits.B. Because the misuse of plastics in the market is greatly increasing.C. Because the new device can solve the problem of waste plastics.D. Because the company is making the technology more widespread.第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。

It’s not clear, researche rs say, whether television itself is the reason, but it is possible that things like snacking(吃零食) in front of the TV or seeing ads for junk food influence young people’s diets. The study included nearly 1,400 high school students. It showed that those who watched TV for five hours or more every day had less healthy diets than other students five years later. As a group, they ate fewer fruits and vegetables, but ate more fast food, snack products and fried foods.“We’re not able to tell why,” lead researche r Dr. Daheia J. Barr-Anderson said. “But we have some speculation(推测).” People who spend a lot of time in front of the TV, especially teenagers, may have more snack. It may influence their long-term diet quality. It’s also possible that TV ads for fast foo d, sweets and snacks make teenagers eat more of those foods. TV time might also replace exercise time for some kids. The researchers found a clear relationship between TV time during high school and diet quality of the young. The heaviest TV viewers ate the most junk food five years later, and those who’d watched less than two hours every day had the most fruits and vegetables.According to Barr-Anderson, the findings support experts’ advice that children should watch no more than two hours of television ev ery day. “Parents’ TV time should decrease.” Barr-Anderson said. She advised that parents set a good example by eating right, being physically active and controlling their own TV time.66. "Playful people try hard to deal with boredom. They manage to turn almost any everyday situation into an entertaining experience," explains Professor Rene Proyer,an expert at MLU.For example, they enjoy word games,or like playing around.According to Proyer, this does not mean that these people are particularly silly.Instead, they can put this trait to good use in many situations:They have an eye for detail, easily accept new ideas and can make a monotonous task interesting for them. The experts from Halle carried out a study on 533 people. They were divided into three experimental groups and a control group without any task,They completed daily exercises for seven days to increase their playfulness. For example, they had to write down three situations in which they had behaved(表现)particularly playfully, they used their trait to be playful in an unfamiliar situation,or they were to think more broadly about the playful behavior they had observed in themselves that day.All groups filled a form before and immediately after weeks one, two, four and twelve after the intervention(干预),with which the researchers measured various personality traits. "We thought that the exercises would lead people to consciously(下意识地)focus their attention on playfulness and use it more often ,"says Proyer. And indeed, the tasks did lead to an increase in playfulness. The researchers also observed an improvement in peopled happiness. The results of the study serve as a starting point for future use. "I believe that we can use this knowledge in everyday life to improve various areas. For example, special interventions in the workplace could lead to more fun or novel ideas at work, "says Proyer.(1)What does the underline word"monotonous " in paragraph 2 mean? ___A.Simple.B.Boring.C.Helpful.D.Exciting.(2)What were the daily exercises intended to do in the study? ___A.Improve people's playfulness.B.Prove the existence of playfulnessC.Find out the meaning of playfulness.D.Examine people's degree of playfulness.(3)How does Proyer feel about the results of the study? ___A.Surprised.B.Confused.C.Doubtful.D.Satisfied.(4)What did Proyer's words in the last paragraph mean? ___A.The research method needed to be improved.B.The results could inspire real life applications.C.The study might start future arguments in the field.D.The workplace especially needed special interventions.14.(填空题,8分)We all know that drinking too much is bad for us,but what about moderate (适度)drinking? We've known about the relationship between moderate drinking and good health for quite sometime.Researchers have identified that people who drink a moderate amount are at a lower risk of things like heart disease and fatness than both people who drink a lot and people who never drink. It's fairly well-established that if you look at society at large, people who drink a moderate amount are the healthiest in a number of ways. The problem is that moderate drinking isn't an isolated behavior(孤立的行为).You can't easily separate moderate drinking from the people who drink moderately, which means that you can't easily identify whether it's actually the alcohol (酒)that's improving people's health or something else. The issue is pretty obvious when you look at the people who drink moderately in all of these studies. They tend to be more educated, smoke less and in general are better off than both people who drink a lot and those who never drink.People who never drink are also different in a lot of ways, for example, illness, poverty(贪穷)and previous alcoholism.Recent studies in Israel and New Zealand show that there probably aren't any significant health benefits of moderate drinking.Once you get rid of the effects of society;even a small amount of drink is connected to worse health. It seems that moderate drinking probably isn't good for our health after all. While there may be some minor heart health benefits, alcohol is addictive(使人成瘾的)and causes damage many other organs.I'm going to keep drinking, but not for my health.Wine is delicious ,and beer is just wonderful .Drink for the taste, drink to socialise, but don't drink because you think it's going to heal your heart. But if possible, try to drink less.(1)What is the common belief about drinking alcohol? ___A.Drinking has little to do with health.B.Moderate drinking benefits our health.C.Drinking reduces the risk of heart disease.D.The healthier you are,the more you can drink.(2)Who is more likely to drink moderately? ___A.A rich man.B.a sick man.C.A former alcoholic.D.A poorly-educated man.(3)What do we know about drinking from the fifth paragraph? ___A.Drinking is an isolated behaviour.B.Drinking is good for the society.C.Drinking is more of a social activity.D.Drinking can cause bad health.(4)What can be the best title of this text? ___A.Is Alcohol Suitable for You?B.What Is Moderate Drinking?C.Do You Know How to Drink?D.Is Moderate Drinking Healthy?15.(填空题,10分)Having good study skills is always helpful. And it's more important in the present situation where online classes are growing.Students are likely to learn without a teacher or a parent watching over them.So you will have to manage your time and study more on your own. In America, the driver’s education is part of the regular high school curriculum(课程). Every student in his or her second year of high school is required to take a class in the driver’s education. However, unlike other courses, it is not given during the regular school year. Instead, it is a summer course. The course is divided up into two parts: class time for learning laws and regulations and driving time to practice driving. Class time is not unlike any other class. The students have a textfrom which they study the basic laws they must know to pass the written driving test that is given to anyone wanting to get a driver’s license.Driving time is a chance for the students to get behind the wheel(steering wheel方向盘) and practice starting steering, backing up, parking, switching lanes, turning corners and all the other maneuvers(操作) required to drive a car. Each student is required to drive a total of six hours. The students are divided up into groups of four. The students and the instructor go out driving for two hour blocks of time. Thus, each student gets half an hour driving time per outing. The instructor and the “driver” sit in front of seat and the other three students sit in the back.Drivers Ed cars are unlike other cars in which they have two brakes(刹车系统), one on th e driver’s side and one on the other side where the instructor sits. Thus, if the student driver should run into difficulties the instructor can take over. The car also has another special feature. On the top of the car is a sign that reads: STUDENT DRIVER. That lets nearby drivers know that they should use extra caution(小心) because the student driver is a beginning driver, not very experienced and prone to driving slowly. After the student has passed the driver’s education course and reached the proper age to drive ( this age differs in every state but in most cases the person must be 16 years old), they can go to a designed state office to take the driver’s test, which is made up of an eye examination, a written test, and a road test. The person must pass all three tests in order to be given a driver’s license. If the person does well in his or her driver’s education class, he or she will pass the test with flying color1 s and get a driver’s license.56. In America, the driver’s course mentioned above______A. is considered as part of the advanced education.B. is given to anyone wanting to get a driver’s license.C. is carried on at the same time as other courses.D. is offered to all the students of Grade 2 in high schools.57.
