Unit 2What’s the matter,Mike?

(Part A L et’s learn & Let’s play)

Good morning, ladies and gentlemen! My name is Xia Quanzhi. I’m from Da Qi. It is really my great honor to have this opportunity to be here to share my teaching ideas with you. Today, my teaching topic is the first part of Unit 2, PEP Book 8,L et’s learn & Let’s play. My teaching presentation includes seven parts.

First, the analysis of teaching material

(一)Status and function

Part A of Unit 2, Book 8, the topic is“What’s the matter,Mike?”. It is talking about health problems. Students learn to use have for talking about health problems . The content of the lesson is closely related to students' actual life and apt to cause students to use simple English to communicate in English.

(二)Teaching aims

1. Knowledge aims:

①The four-- skilled words and phrases: hurt, have a fever, have a cold, have a toothache, have

a headache, have a sore throat

②Target language: --- What’s the matter, Mike? --- I feel sick. I have a fever.

2. Ability aims:

① Enable students to master the four---skilled words and phrases.

②Cultivate students’ ability of using the target language in real context.

3. Emotion aims:

①Learn to care about others.

②Help students to form a good sense of cooperation and know the importance of teamwork.

(三) Focal points and difficult points

Focal points:

①The four-- skilled words and phrases:hurt, have a fever, have a cold, have a toothache, have a headache, have a sore throat

② Patterns learning: --- What’s the matter, Mike? --- I feel sick. I have a fever.

Difficult points:

① The spelling of the four---skilled words and phrases.

② The usage of the target language in real context.

Second, the analysis of students

The primary school students’ thinking ability of the image is strong, and their attention can be scattered easily.

Students in Grade Six have been studying English for more than three years. Most students keep a strong interest in English study. But they still have some difficulties in expressing themselves.

Third, the teaching methods

In the class, I will lead students to study language in real context all the time and let students learn by using and learn for using.

●Task-based Language Teaching

It lets the students finish various communication activities through using language and make students observe, think, discuss, exchange and cooperate to master the language.

●Scene Communication Teaching

According to English Curriculum Standard, we should create a real language environment based on the experience students had. So I design the communication tasks that contact the reality.

●Audio Visual Approach

It lets the students’ feelings of visual sense and sense of heari ng are combined.

●TPR

Teaching aids:

●The multimedia assisting.

●The pictures and word cards.

●A doctor hat and coat.

Fourth, the learning methods

English course standard aims to “train student s’ interest of learning English and develop their ability of learning independently and the spirit of cooperation.”

I will divide students into several groups among the activity and let them cooperate to finish classroom task ,and then they use English freely by themselves.

Fifth, teaching procedures: (40 minutes for a period)

Step 1: Warm-- up

Listen to an English song If you are happy

Ask students to do some actions while singing this song.

(It aims to create a relaxing and happy study atmosphere.)

Step 2:Lead in

Let’s chant

(1) Play the tape of Let’s chant,have the students listen and chant.

(2) Show the Teaching wall chart of Let’s start,then ask:

Who are they? Are they happy? What’s the matter with them?

(It aims to make students get to be exposed to the new knowledge smoothly.)

Step 3.Presentation

1.Present and teach the new phrase:have a fever

T: Look at the girl. What’s the matter with her? (Show the picture.)

Help the Ss answer: have a fever (Teach the Ss to read.)

T: If I were the the girl, I can answer:I have a fever.
