About Atypical Pneumonia, please pay attention to the following:

身为一家食品生产公司以及关心员工的雇主，本公司非常关注各同事的健康情況。鉴于「非典型肺炎」带来的威胁，贵公司须立即加强办公室、走廊、洗手间及空调出风口的清洁和消毒，作为防范措施。建议使用氯水或其他等效消毒剂。

As a food manufacturing facility and a concerned employer, we must be alert to the general health condition of our staff. With the fears over Atypical Pneumonia, as a precautionary measure, your company must strengthen and carry out more frequent cleaning and sanitation of office areas, corridors, washrooms as well as air-conditioning outlets. Recommend chlorine solution or equivalent.

我们希望贵公司各同事密切留意及遵守下列指引，以减少此病症的威胁。

We are now writing to draw your attention to the following points and ask for your support to counter and minimize any threat to the health of staff.

• 如员工发现或怀疑他/她的家属或经常接触的人患上此病症，便必須立即通知其部門主管及人力

資源部。If your staff discover or suspect his/her family member(s), or other people with whom he have close contact, to be suffering from the symptoms of this disease, he must report to his department head and Human Resources Department immediately.

• 如员工与已证实受感染的人士在同一大厦居住，他/她必須立即向其部門主管及人力资源部报

告。If staff lives in the same residential block as people who have been infected, he must report to his department head and Human Resources Department immediately.

• 如员工怀疑他/她已受到感染，必須立即通知其部門主管及人力资源部，申请数天的假期，並到政府指定的医疗中心检查。If staff develop symptoms of upper respiratory infection, he/she must report to his/her department head and Human Resources Department immediately, take leave for a few days and register with medical centres designated by the Government.

• 现在关键生产区域员工必須佩戴保护措施如口罩及手套工作。It is presently mandatory to wear personal protective equipment i.e. masks and gloves in the key production areas.

A TTACHMENT 1 ATYPICAL PNEUMONIA

W HAT IS A TYPICAL P NEUMONIA

Pneumonia refers to an inflammation of lung or infection of lung which results in abnormal lung function. Atypical pneumonia is usually caused by influenza virus, mycoplasma, chlamydia and other unknown micro-organism.

S YMPTOMS

Main Symptoms:

▪High fever (>38°C)

▪Cough

▪Shortness of breath or breathing difficulties

Other symptoms:

▪Chills

▪Headache

▪Muscular stiffness

▪Loss of appetite

▪Rash

▪Diarrhea

M ODE OF T RANSMISSION

Atypical pneumonia is a type of respiratory tract infection transmitted by respiratory droplets over a short distance o f one metre, or by contact with patients’ respiratory secretions.

P RECAUTIONARY M EASURES

▪Build up good body immunity, i.e. taking a proper diet, having regular exercise and adequate rest, reducing stress and avoiding smoking;

▪Maintain good personal hygiene. Cover nose and mouth when sneezing or coughing;
