It will provide students with the fundamental considerations in language testing; will give them the opportunity to practice writing test items using different methods in testing language skills; will enable them to know ways to evaluate test papers, to interpret test results and to moderate less satisfactory test items. Along with the classroom activities, students will be required to select one class for which to design, administer, and analyze a test in one of the language skill areas: reading, writing, listening, grammar, vocabulary, or oral production.

This course investigates the theories and assumptions behind second language test construction, administration, validation, revision, and selection.
