• Mainly established on the basis of the painting, Chinese animation lacks of feeling of motion an d third dimension. Less movement of the camer a and the character cannot make people have a s tong visual impact.
Character
• In Chinese animation, many figures are not created for the cartoon specially, but from the classic and ancient myths and legends. People remember these characters just as myths or legends not as cartoon. So those figures created specially for the animation failed to be remembered.
The development of American animation
Five stages: (1907~) 1907～1937 : the start-up The Humorous phases of Funny Faces(一张滑稽 面孔的幽默姿态) —— the fisrt animation with only 5 minutes, simple and rough Popeye (大力水手)
• German fairy tale Snow White, Chinese historical story Mulan, and also The Lion King of animal world, Finding Nemo about nature,
• The Jungle Book about the relationship between human and nature, Transformers in the science fiction world,
By contrast, Chinese animation has more narrow theme in which it’s very popular to educate through entertainment. For example, the early Princess Iron-Fan, The Tadpoles Look For Their Mommy,

• American animation has a variety of themes and all kinds of materials , stories and legends can be choosed as source of animation, including The Arabian Nights from Arab,
Animation is a unique category of movie, which includes image elements of cartoon, childlike emotion and feelings and rich imagination.
Animation from different area with their own features also reflect their culture. So next let’s talk about the differences between Chinese and American culture from the point of view of animation.
Difference —— animation industry
To make more money, American try their best to choose all kinds of subjects and characters, innovate and overturn. In contrast, Chinese animation always cannot escape from the tradition. The degree of commercialization is far from American anmation industry.
• On the contrary, creativity is an important part of American culture. Just with constant innovation and subversion as the source of animation, Disney and Dreamworks successfully created many classic animated characters.
