Big differences, Big between the West and China

When we go abroad for vacation tour or business trip, especially for living a long time, the differences between the West and Chinese always make us confused and puzzled. Even sometimes these varieties cause a lot of jokes and embarrassments. The reasons of such phonemes are the different attitudes toward culture, family and economic value.

The West culture encourages people to be the unique one in the masses, to show his or her ability to the full extent. That’s why we often see in the West movie, the individualistic heroism is popular. Moreover, the West admires those who have remarkable distinct viewpoints instead those have common viewpoints. The key word for the family value is independence. From childhood, the education of being independent human beings is the most important things to be taught. In the West, 18-years-old children are required to leave home and make living by themselves. My Favorite Form of Transport

On holidays, especially during summer vacations, I would like to go outside the city for a change: to take a vacation in the mountains, on the beach, or in some interesting spots. Despite the fact that most of my fellow students like a sea journey, I’d like to choose to travel in a train for its safety and reasonable price.

It’s true that traveling on a ship is an interesting experience. It offers rich recreatio nal opportunities such as swimming, dancing, playing games, seeing films and making new friends. One can certainly have a good time on the journey. What’s more, the cost for a trip by sea is quite low. But those advantages are outweighed by the considerable amount of time one has to spend on a long and arduous sea journey. Unless one travels out to see the sunrise and sunset every day, he won’t consider taking a ship.

Nothing can match an airplane for speed. It gets you to your destination so rapidly that you don’t have to devise ways of taking your mind off the journey. But for most students who have no income and chiefly depend on parent for financial support, an air journey is too expensive to afford. Most important of all, airplanes have the reputation of being dangerous, and even hardened air travelers are often nervous when they set foot on them. To me, safety is always a stop priority.

That’s the first and foremost reason that I have chosen to travel by train. Among the various forms of long distance transport, a train is the safest, Even if some accident happens, the rate of survival is always higher than that in air or sea accidents. Furthermore, travelling by train costs less than by air, and takes less time than by sea. It is true that by comparison there is little entertainment on board, but the train windows are always the most tempting shop windows I ever know. Looking through them is a rare experience of seeing real motion pictures. The landscape is natural. Eyes can turn away from what is dull to something interesting in your newspapers and magazines, or can be closed to catch a daytime nap when you feel a little tired. I dare say few places are a train’s equal for reading and napping. With beautiful scenery always in sight, with sleep permissible at will, with books within easy reach, and most important, with no gnawing anxiety for accidents, trains are my most preferred form of transport in travel.
