三游洞简介

三游洞位于宜昌西北7公里,是西陵山北峰峭壁上的巨大山洞。它背靠长江三峡的西陵峡口,面临下牢溪,洞奇景异,山水秀丽。

三游洞地势险峻,形如覆蓬,冬暖夏凉,洞室开阔,呈不规则长方形,深约30米,宽约23米,高约9米,是古代地下水沿岩层岩面不断溶蚀,并经塌陷而形成的石灰岩溶洞。三游洞风景秀丽,历史悠久。从唐宋起,许多名家及文人墨客都曾相继来此,赋诗题字刻于洞壁上。现存洞内外的诗文摩崕、碑刻,数以百计;名家书法楷、隶、篆、行、草各体皆备。

风景区内主要景点有三游洞、至喜亭、楚塞楼、古军垒遗址、张飞擂鼓台、陆游泉等,近年来,景区又新增了巴楚乐宫、世界华人国家印章刻石园、中华震旦角石园等新的景观。

传说唐元和十四年(公元819年),大诗人白居易与其弟白行简在此遇到大诗人元稹。三人结伴到西陵山一游。发现这个“天生一洞”。三位诗人各赋诗一首,并由白居易“序而记之”。因此洞由他们三人始游,故得名“三游洞”。137年后北宋年间,又有三位文豪苏洵、苏轼和苏辙父子同游此洞。同样苏氏父子也各题诗一首,留于洞壁。白氏兄弟与元稹之行,称为“前三游”;苏氏父子之行,称为“后三游”。

The Introduction to Three Travelers’ Cave

Three travelers’ Cave is a huge cave in the northern peak of Xiling Mountain, which situated 7 kilometers northwest to Yichang City. It is backed by Xiling Gorge and faced with Xianao Stream, with a beautiful scenery within and outside the cave.

This cave lie at steep topography, and it is a limestone cavern, formed by corrosion and collapse of the stratum due to the seepage of ground water.It is about 30m deep, 23m wide and 9m high, with a shape of an irregular rectangle, just like a cloak. The climate in this wide cave is fairly mild in winter and rather cool in summer. With a long history and such beautiful landscape, many poets and literary men have visited here and wrote poems and nscriptions on the walls of the cave since Tang and Song dynasties. Hundreds of extant poems, inscriptions, including different character styles, such as regular script,clerical script, cursive handwriting ,are still there until today.

The main scenic spots in this scenic zone are Three Travelers’Cave, Zhixi Pavilion, Chusailou Tower, Ancient army’s rampart sites, the Drum sets of Zhangfei and the Luyou Spring. In recent years, many new spots are added here, such as the Palace of Ba and Chu nations, seals and steles Park of worldwide Chinese countries and 中华震旦角石园.

Legends goes that in 819AC, the great poet Bai Juyi and his younger brother Bai Xingjian encountered Yuanzhen, another great poet and visited Xiling Mountain together, discovering the “inborn cave”. They each wrote a poem on the cliff of the

cave, and and an article, San You Dong Xu (sānyóudòngxù三游洞序), was written on the cliff by Bai Juyi.
