A Probe into the writing techniques of Pride and Prejudice(书名要斜

体)

Although the author used the third person describing different marriage of the daughters of Mrs. Bennet (论文里不能出现缩写’s)without any direct comments on anyone, she has portrayed her own view by creating different characters and designing different ending for them. So (不能出现第一人称,I we 都不行,只能用the author, the writer.去掉)this passage will analyze the writing techniques to get to know how the author expressed her view in the story.

The main wring techniques are contrast and irony in the works. Contrast

The writer made comparison between the marriage of Elizabeth(不能出现缩写,只能用of所有格,自己把后面的改了) and the one of others on purpose, so readers can manage to catch a glimpse of it on the basis of their marriage especially.

The marriage of Elizabeth-----with both love and money. We believe that Elizabeth longs for pure and sincere love, but she has to confront her marriage with careful consideration to wealth on account of a lack of the right of inheritance. Elizabeth would not accept his second proposal without a moment’s hesitation, if Darcy were not as rich as the author described. With regard to their love, we could not find fault with anything.

Darcy has poor ability to control his innate arrogance, and Elizabeth’s prejudice is also inevitable that is due to her self-esteem and Wickham’s deception. Their character finally clashes with each other in the first proposal. At that time, Darcy can’t forget his superiority his family offers, for example, “His sense of her inferiority-----of its being a degradation……”and of course, Elizabeth shows her discontents directly, too. Fortunately, after that, Darcy gets to think about what Elizabeth criticized, and he is willing to overcome his biggest shortcoming-----arrogance. Likewise, when Elizabeth has read the letter accounting for Wickham’s lies and found his great change in his grounds at Pemberley, she is touched enough to put aside the prejudice against him. Darcy spares no effort to contribute to Lydia’s marriage later, so Elizabeth loves him more. Their love is a satisfactory (eventful是多事之秋的意思) story for both pride and prejudice. But it is pride and prejudice that become their intangible but the most precious wealth, which indicates how great the other side has changed for him or her and how deep and precious their love is. Finally, all the reader s witness their wonderful ending, namely a happy marriage based on sincere love, after they have experienced a series of emotional obstacles.

The marriage of Jane----with love and similar interest. For them, except for some obstruction because of Darcy, everything is going smoothly, and it is hard to find a more wonderful ending in real life.
