She rejected the way Mr. Rochester towards to love, but instead, she proved us an independent and generous image of the lady. Even though love is very important, though a good social position may be admired by the others, she knew what is the most important to her and she always did the things that she thought is true. What she did is accorded with the social morality.In another view, though she was a lady from a rich family, but the orphan in childhood made her an ambiguous social position. When she greworder she was only a family governess and she was also paid by her owner and she was powerless, too. She complained about the unequal social classes. But she could do nothing to change it and the prejudice of the common people.Nest point maybe that Jean’s attempt to assert the privilege of the women. She was arranged to have conflict with three men. But from the novel we can know that she was obeyed to neither of them, but she always try to protect herself and do what is good to a woman. My Impression After reading “The Mill on the Floss”Recently,I have just finished reading a famous novel written by the Victorian writer George Eliot—“The Mill on the Floss”,which is the writer’s autobiographical novel and also one of the most popular works among British novels.This book described the deeply brother and sister’s feeling between Maggie and Tom.Maggie and Tom Tulliver are two children growing up at an old fashion mill on the river Floss. She meets deformed Philip, who is the son of their father Mr. Tulliver’s worst enemy in lawsuit, Mr. Wakem.Mr. Tulliver loses the lawsuit, and Tom has to work to pay off the family debts. His relationship with Maggi e is badly damaged because he forbids her contact with Philip. A few year s later,Maggie is attracted to Stephen Guest, Lucy’s boyfriend. The last voyage is to the country of Houyhnhnms, whose residents are sensible and gentle. They never lied and stole in the country and there is no disease, no crime, and no wars. But at last, Gulliver had to leave because he is greedy, ugly and selfish compared with native creatures.From the four voyages of Gulliver, we can see the darkness of the European and British country.
