With
an unbroken dream, He arrived in New York ,carrying the letter of introduction and hoping to find a good job, but only to find he was refused all the time. Finally, he knew that the content of the letter was not to help him which written by the principle. What’s worse, as he worked he was involved in the combat between labor unions(工会) and anti-labor unions ( 反 工 会 ) .Then he was severely hurt in an explosive accident and was regarded as a medical experiment by the doctor.

intelligent, deeply introspective, and highly gifted with language, but very naï ve when he was at college . he struggles to achieve his dreams but finally he found the society was too dark he felt he was an invisible man .

Summary
The
main protagonist of this novel was a poor black teenager who was born in the south of America, with no name. He was longing for the fame and wealth, so he tried his best to study and he dreamed that one day he would get into the upper class. Because of his excellent performance, he was recommended to a negro college after graduating from high school. One day, he infuriated one of the director of the school when he received him, and he was kicked out of the college.

nameless protagonist of the novel. The narrator is the “invisible man "of the title . A black man in 1930s America ,the narrator considers himself as invisible because people never see his true self beneath the roles that stereotype and racial prejudice compel him to play .

1. Survival Background生存背景 Due to the geographical factors, growing up in a relatively relaxed environment of racial discrimination , he didn't put the white racial discrimination against black people as the main contradiction of the society, so all of his writing activities were not to opposing and criticizing the white people. On the other hand ,to a certain extent, it is a default and inheritance of the traditional culture, which was dominated by white Americans.But due to the need of social existence, he cried out to the ethnic compatriots.

the alienation of the blacks in the United States, when they were trying their best to find the self values. work inherited the themes of traditional Black Fictions--racial discrimination and the process of searching self value, meanwhile giving the Black fictions new meanings.
Tod Clifton is passionate, handsome, articulate and intelligent. He eventually parts ways with the Brotherhood, though it remaiHale Waihona Puke Baidus unclear whether a falling-out has taken place, or whether he has simply become disillusioned with the group.
Then,
his talent of speech was found by an organization called Brotherhood ( 兄 弟 会 ) in an event of a black tenant deportation(驱逐). He was invited to be their orator and he began to devote to work for the black in the organization, fully hoping that he could realize his ideals and ambitions. However, a series of events made him see the nature of Brotherhood clearly. The Brotherhood only aspired to reach their political aims and to tightly control the actions and thoughts of its members by their creeds. In fact, no matter the talent of individuals or the destiny of the black were tools of Brotherhood
Ras
A stout, flamboyant, charismatic, angry man with a flair for public agitation. Ras represents the black nationalist movement, which advocates the violent overthrow of white supremacy. Ellison seems to use him to comment on the black nationalist leader Marcus Garvey, who believed that blacks would never achieve freedom in white society.
Meanwhile,
“doombringer”(毁灭者) Lars, a black nationalism fanatic, believed that he was a betrayer of the black. Therefore, Lars tried to kill him and during the chase, he fell down into an abandoned coal pit(煤窑) and lived in it from then on. He thought over his experience and finally realized he was an invisible man which people could not see. prove his existence, he lighted 1,369 bulbs. Once, he constantly tried to find self-identity. However, he could not find it in the social reality and even utterly lost himself.
