At that time, the traditionist and the Libertarian had a fierce battle. The traditionist thought that there should not have the radical revolution. In Whitman's poetry, President Lincoln, who was assassinated on the eve of victory, is compared to the captain who led everyone through the waves but ultimately collapsed on the deck. President Lincoln was assassinated shortly after the abolition of slavery, while Teacher Keating led his students to pursue spiritual freedom and challenge the conservative education system. As soon as he achieved some results, he was ordered to be laid off. His situation was similar to that of President Lincoln: he rode the wind and waves, but ultimately paid the price.
