IBM SVC(SAN Volume Controller)存储虚拟化产品具有通用性强、实施简单的特点,透明地加入原有SAN 环境是SVC的基本功能。
SVC是整个SAN 网络的控制器,在SAN的分区上,逻辑上主要划分为Host Zone和Disk Zone,从而解除主机与存储设备的紧密耦合。
它将整个SAN中的存储设备整合成一个巨大的存储池,可以充分利用所有的存储资源(包含第三方存储设备)并按业务的需求分配存储空间、性能和功能。

IBM SVC目前提供MetroMirror和GlobalMirror两种高级复制功能。
异步(Global Mirror)功能的设计目的在于针对业务连续性和灾难恢复提供几乎不受距离限制的长距离异步远程复制能力。
在SVC中,同步(MetroMirror)和异步可以作为同一项功能实现,以便灵活地实现远程复制功能。

ESS Global Mirror(异步级联PPRC)简介背景介绍早期的IBM企业存储服务器ESS已经可以支持两种不同的远程拷贝功能来保证应用系统不间断的运行, 分别是PPRC和XRC。
2003年,IBMY又正式公布了ESS-800 PPRC V2的新功能。
现在对于异步PPRC,包括对级联PPRC的支持,统称的Global Mirror(异步PPRC)。
下面,我们就分别加以介绍。
PPRC: Peer-to-Peer Remote CopyPPRC本身是同步远程镜像的解决方案,可以保护数据和提供灾难恢复功能。
IBM企业存储服务器ESS PPRC是继承了S/390磁盘系统的的功能,而且,它还提供了对UNIX和Windows NT 的支持。
PPRC作为数据存储的容灾方案,可实施远程的数据高速同步镜像,把数据损失的可能性降低到最低。
应用IBM企业存储服务器ESS的PPRC功能,S/390和开放系统(UNIX)现在可实现远程灾难恢复方案来保护可能被破坏的数据。
PPRC可将选定的数据进行拷贝的距离远至103公里。
PPRC 的管理是通过Web浏览器界面实现的,IBM的StorWatch企业存储专家为开放系统而设,ICKDSF为S/390而设。
应用PPRC无需特别的软件。
使用ESCON光纤线缆连接IBM企业存储服务器ESS系统。
在写操作完成报告操作系统之前,本地与远程拷贝写操作都完成了。
PPRC是一种同步协议,它允许数据从一个逻辑单元(Logical Unit)到另一个逻辑单元进行实时的镜像。
PPRC是与应用无关的。
由于该复制功能是在磁盘系统级发生的,应用根本不知道PPRC 的存在。
PPRC协议的步骤为:主机服务器(S/390、Unix或者Windows NT服务器)对主IBM企业存储服务器ESS(本地的IBM 企业存储服务器ESS)发出一个写的I/O请求。
该写操作将写入IBM企业存储服务器ESS的NVS 缓存(Cache)中。

2.3.1RIO-GRIO-G端口用于I/O扩展到外部的I/O抽屉。
RIO代表remote I/O。
RIO-G是从早期的RIO连接演化而来。
每个RIO-G端口能够运行在1GHz双向模式,能够在每个环路端口每个方向上传输数据。
它被设计为一种高性能自修复的连接。
p5 570提供2个外部RIO-G端口,一个适配卡增加2个端口。
在每个Processor complex上的2个端口形成一个环路。

DS8000 RUO-G连接将根据型号变化。
一个2路的DS8000型号将只有1个RIO-G环路。
1个4路的DS8000型号将有2个RIO-G环路。
每个环路支持4个disk enclosure。
2.3.2I/O enclosure所有基础型号都包含I/O enclosure和适配卡。
I/O enclosure内安装适配卡,提供适配卡到Proce ssor complex的连接。
DA和HA都安装在I/O enclosure里面。
每个I/O enclosure有6个槽位。
每个槽位都支持运行在64位133MHz的PCI-X适配卡。
3号和6号插槽用来使用DA。
每个I/ O enclosure剩下的插槽用来安装最多4块HA。
图2-7 I/O enclosure每个I/O enclosure有如下特征:4U机架式6个PCI-X插槽:3.3V,keyed,133 MHz blind-swap hot-plug默认的冗余热插拔电源和冷却设备2个RIO-G和SPCN端口2.4磁盘子系统DS8000提供可选的光纤通道硬盘,包括300G硬盘,使得DS8100容量标称到115.2TB,DS830 0容量标称到192T。
磁盘子系统由三部分组成:位于I/O enclosure内的DA。
