I just got my new English exercise book for this school year and I'm really excited to start using it!The book is green with a picture of a friendly cartoon owl on the cover. Maybe it will help me get smarter in English class!When I opened up the book, the first few pages had some basic information like my name, class, student number, and the school year. There were also some instructions about how to properly use and take care of the exercise book. We're supposed to write neatly, not rip or fold the pages, and keep it in good condition.After that intro section, the real content starts. The first unit is all about greetings and introductions. There are dialogues to practice how to greet people, say your name, age, hobby, etc. Ialready know a lot of this from previous years, but it's still good to review.One of the exercises has us introduce a friend or family member. I wrote about my older brother Jack. He's 11 years old and his hobby is playing video games. I said "This is my brother Jack. He is 11 years old. His hobby is playing video games." Simple but it gets the point across!The next unit covers numbers from 1 to 100. This one is pretty straightforward - just a bunch of exercises to practice counting, reading numbers, and basic math equations. I had to write out the numbers in words like "twenty-seven" and "forty-five." There were also word problems like "Amy has 32 apples and Bob has 18 apples. How many apples do they have in total?" I solved it by adding 32 + 18 = 50.After numbers, we moved on to colors and shapes. This unit had us labeling common objects with their color or shape. For example, "The apple is red" or "The chalkboard is a rectangle." We also learned words for 3D shapes like cube, sphere, and cylinder.One page had a picture of a classroom with different colored and shaped objects. We had to describe what we saw using colors and shapes. I made sure to enjoy every single day.The first week, my family went on a trip to the beach. We rented a little house right on the sand in Sanya. Every morning I would wake up, have breakfast, and then run straight into the ocean. The water was warm and the waves were perfect for boogie boarding. I slept in late, played video games, read my favorite book series, and generally took it easy. The parents got mad sometimes because I was being a lazy bumaccording to them. But I needed to rest up before starting another busy school year!On the last day before going back, I spent the whole day at my neighborhood hangout spot - the basketball court near my apartment. All my friends came too and we played pick-up games from morning until night, just trying to soak up as much outside time as possible.
