教师资格考试初级中学学科知识与教学能力英语试卷及答案指导
教师资格考试初级中学英语学科知识与教学能力自测试卷及答案指导一、单项选择题(本大题有30小题,每小题2分,共60分)1、Which of the following sentences uses the correct form of the verb given the context?A)She enjoys to read books in her spare time.B)They prefer to not go to the party tonight.C)He likes play video games on weekends.D)We decide to watch a movie this evening.Answer: D) We decide to watch a movie this evening.Explanation: The correct form to use after a verb like ‘decide’, ‘enjoy’, ‘prefer’, or ‘like’ is the base form of the verb without ‘to’. However, in the case of ‘enjoy’, ‘prefer’, and ‘like’, the infinitive form (‘to + verb’) is also commonly used in spoken English but is not grammatically correct in formal written English. Option D is the only sentence that correctly follows this rule.2、Identify the type of sentence:The dog barked loudly, and the cat ran away.A)Simple sentenceB)Compound sentenceC)Complex sentenceD)Compound-complex sentenceAnswer: B) Compound sentenceExplanation: A compound sentence consists of two or more independent clauses joined by a coordinating conjunction (such as ‘and’, ‘but’, ‘or’, etc.). In this example, “The dog barked loudly” and “the cat ran away” are both independent clauses, and they are connected by the conjunction ‘and’. Therefore, it is a compound sentence.3、The following sentence is a good example of which grammatical structure?A. “He has been teaching English for ten years.”B. “I will finish my homework in two hours.”C. “She is running fast because she wants to win the race.”D. “You should have studied harder.”Answer: AExplanation: Option A is the correct answer because it demonstrates the present perfect continuous tense, which is used to describe an action that started in the past and continues to the present. Options B and C use the simple present tense, while option D uses the simple past tense.4、In the following dialogue, which sentence is a request?A. “Where is the library?”B. “I think it’s time for lunch.”C. “Please close the door.”D. “I can’t find my pen.”Answer: CExplanation: Option C is the correct answer because it is an explicit request, using the polite form “please.” Options A and D are questions, while optionB is a statement of opinion.5、Which of the following best describes the use of the Communicative Approach in teaching English?A) Focusing primarily on grammar and vocabulary drills.B) Emphasizing real-life communication and functional language use.C) Concentrating on reading and writing skills only.D) Using translation as the main tool for teaching.Answer: B) Emphasizing real-life communication and functional language use.Explanation: The Communicative Approach focuses on enabling students to communicate effectively in real-life situations using the target language. Unlike summative assessment, which evaluates student learning at the end of an instructional period, formative assessment occurs during instruction to inform adjustments and support student success.7、The teacher is using a multimedia presentation to teach the students about the solar system. Using touchscreens or interactive software aligns with this purpose, allowing students to interact directly with the content presented in the multimedia presentation. The other options do not align with the interactive and dynamic nature of multimedia ineducational settings.8、In a primary school English class, the teacher wants to develop the students’ reading comprehension skills. W hich of the following activities is most suitable for this purpose?A)Reading a short story aloud and then asking students to retell the story.B)Discussing the vocabulary in the story and asking students to create sentences usingthose words.C)Watching a video related to the story and then writing a summary of the video.D)Completing a worksheet with multiple-choice questions based on the story.Answer: AExplanation: Reading a short story aloud and then asking students to retell the story is an effective way to develop reading comprehension skills. It encourages students to listen actively, understand the narrative, and recall the details. This activity promotes recall, summarization, and comprehension, which are essential components of reading comprehension. The other options focus more on vocabulary, writing, or comprehension through visual media, which may not be as effective in developing reading comprehension skills.9、Which of the following sentences correctly uses the subjunctive mood?A) If I was you, I would take the job.B) If I were you, I would take the job.C) If I am you, I would take the job.D) If I be you, I would take the job.Answer: BExplanation: The correct form is “If I were you,” which uses the subjunctive mood to express a hypothetical situation that is contrary to fact. In this case, the speaker is not actually the listener, making “were” the appropriate choice rather than “was” or “am.”10、Identify the type of sentence that is used in the following example: “Watch out for that step; it’s higher than you might think.”A) ImperativeB) InterrogativeC) ExclamatoryD) DeclarativeAnswer: AExplanation: The sentence “Watch out for that step; it’s higher than you might think.” begins with a command (“Watch out”), making it an imperative sentence. Options A, C, and D use incorrect forms or do not properly apply the subjunctive mood.14、Choose the sentence that correctly employs a reported speech:A) He said, “I am going to the store,” so I went with him.B) She told me that she has seen a UFO.C) They reported that they had finished their homework.D) It was reported that the meeting will be postponed.Answer: C) They reported that they had finished their homework.Explanation: Reported speech (also known as indirect speech) requires the reporting verb (such as report, say, tell) to be followed by a clause that conveys what was originally said. Option C is correct because it uses the past perfect tense “had finished” which show s the action was completed before the time of reporting, fitting correctly into the sequence of events. Options A and B do not correctly change the tense when reporting what was said, and option D incorrectly uses the future tense in reported speech.15、The following sentence is written in active voice. Therefore, the correctpassive voice f orm is “The book was written by him.”16、Choose the correct word to complete the sentence:The student was________(A) in the library (B) to study (C) for two hours (D).Answer: CExplanation: The correct phrase to complete the sentence is “The student was studying for two hours.” This phrase indicates the action (studying) and the duration (for two hours). Therefore, option C is the most suitable objective for a lesson aimed at improving listening skills, as it specifically targets the ability to comprehend spoken language.19.What is the main purpose of using authentic materials in language teaching?A)To provide students with exposure to the target language.B)To help students understand grammar rules.C)To focus on vocabulary building.D)To test students’ proficiency in the target language.Answer: AExplanation: The main purpose of using authentic materials in language teaching is to provide students with exposure to the target language in its natural context, which helps them better understand and acquire the language. In option A, “If I were a bird,” the past tense form of ‘be’ (were) is used with ‘I’, which is a clear indicator of the subjunctive mood, expressing an impossible condition. Options B, C, and D use the indicative mood to describe factual conditions or future possibilities.22、In the sentence “The teacher as well as the students_______very excited about the upcoming field trip,” which verb form should be used to agree with the subject?A) isB) areC) wasAnswer: AExplanation: When a subject is followed by a phrase such as “as well as,” “along with,” “together with,” or “in addition to,” the verb should agree with the subject preceding these phrases, not with the noun or pronoun following them. In this case, “the teacher” is singular and comes before “as well as the students,” so the correct verb form to use is “is” to maintain subject-verb agreement.23、What is the main purpose of the following sentence in a text for English language learners?“A. To provide background information about the topic.B. To introduce the vocabulary needed for the lesson.C. To offer a direct instruction on the correct usage of a grammar structure.D. But is it true? Or, toput the matterless starkly, is t here aconnectionbetween creativityand dishonesty in realpeoplewho are not bent onworld domination, as well asinfictional supervillains?Writing in Psychological Science, Francesca Ginoof HarvardUniversityandScott Wiltermuth of the Universityof Southern Californiasuggest that there is—and that cheating actually increases creativity.Dr Gino and DrWiltermuthtested the honesty of 153 volunteers with a task that involved adding up numbers for acashreward, which was presented ina way that seemedto them to allow them to cheat undetected (thoughthe researchers knew when they did). This wassandwiched between two tests forcreativity, one of which was to work out how to fix a candleto a cardboard wall with a box ofdrawing pins*, andthe other aword-association test.Thi scombination showed not onlythat creativepeople cheat more, butalsothatcheating seems to encouragecreativity—for those who cheatedin theadding-up test were evenbetterat word associationthan their candle-testresult spredicted. That resultwas confirmed by a second set of experiments, in which some people were given many opportunitiesto cheat andothers few. The crucial predictor ofcreativity, the researchers confirmed, wasthe actual amount ofcheating, not any propensity to cheat.A third experimenttested the idea that this isbecause both creativityanddishonestyrequire, asit were, a flexible attitude to rules. In this experimen tvolunteers were askedabouttheirattitude to bossysigns, suchas “nocycling”and“no diving” notices, after being allowed tocheat(again, in a waytransparent totheexperimenters) on a coin-tossing test.C heats, it turnedout, were lessconstrained to obey such signs. It is,it goeswithoutsaying, a longway from such actsof petty defiance to building a lairinside an extinct volcano and threatening Washington from it—or even to non-fictionalacts of serious crime. The cities of Sumeria; Egypt and the Indus Valley possessed a number of characteristics that distinguished them as truly urban. The cities were very much larger and more densely populated than any previous settlement; and their function wasclearly differentiated from that of the surrounding villages. In the cities the old patterns of kinship relations were replaced by a complex hierarchy of social classes based on the specialization oflabor. Moreover; the need to keep records led to the development of writing and arithmetic; and the increased sophistication of urban society gave a new impetus to artistic expression of every kind. When the basis of city life was established in Europe the urban tradition was drawn from the ancient cities of the Middle East; via the civilization of Greece and Rome. We can trace threemain phases in the growth of the West European city. The first of these is the medieval phase which extends from the beginning of the 1 lth century A.D. to about 1;500 to the beginning of the 19th century. The third is the modern phase extending from the early 19th century to the present day.Every medieval city began as a small settlement; which grew up round a geographical or cultural focal point. This would be a permanent structure such as a stronghold; a cathedral or a large church. In districts where travel and trade were well established; it might be a market; a river crossing; or a place where two or more trade routes met; in studies of urban geography the oldest part of town is referred to as the nuclear settlement. There are many small towns in Europe where it is still possible to trace the outline of the original nuclear settlement. It is; of course;much more difficult to do this in the case if a large modern city which has grown to many times its original size.21. Which of the following statements is TRUEA. West European cities established their own urban traditions.B. West European cities grew directly out of those in the Middle East.C. It is easier to locate its original nuclear settlement of a small town__________.A. because it began as a small settlementB. because it is less developedC. because of its small sizeD. because of its location25. The Characteristics of an Ancient City.请阅读Passaqe 2;完成第26~30小题..Passage 2There are two factors which determine an individual's intelligence. The first is the sort of brain he is born with. Human brains differ considerably; some being more capable than others. But no matter how good a brain he has to begin with; an individual will have a low order of intelligence unless he has opportunities to learn. So the second factor is what happens to the individual--thesort of environment in which he is brought up. If an individual is handicapped environmentally; it is likely that his brain will fail to develop and he will never attain the level of intelligence of which he is capable.Theimportanceofenvironmentindetermininganindividual'sintelligencecanbedemonstrated by the case history of the identical twins; Peter and Mark. Being identical; the twins had identical brains at birth; and their growth processes were the same. When the twins were three months old; their parents died; and they were placed in separate foster homes. Peter was raised by parents of low intelligence in an isolated community with poor educational opportunities. Mark was reared in the home of well-to-do parents who had been to college. He was read to as a child; sent to good schools; and given every opportunity to be stimulated intellectually. This environmental difference continued until the twins were in their late teens; when they were given tests to measure their intelligence. Mark's LQ. was 125; twenty-five points higher than the average and fully forty points higher than his identical brother. Given equal opportunities; the twins; having identical brains; would have tested at roughly the same level.26. This selection can best be titled__________.A. Measuring Your IntelligenceB. Use of first-person singular subject pronouns (“I”) only.B. Use of second-person singular subjects (“You”) for addressing others.C. Use of single-word abbreviations for names of months (“Abbr.”) and days of the week (“Abbr.”).D. Slight modulation in the standard subject-verb agreement (e.g., “Some of my friend s are gonna come”).Answer: AExplanation: In informal language, teenagers often use first-person plural pronouns (“us,” “we”) even when they are speaking alone or referring to themselves personally. Grammar instruction and writing skills developmentAnswer: CExplanation: The English Language Arts curriculum in the UK, especially in exam-focused secondary (ages 11-16) and key stage 3 settings, is commonly based on a holistic language skills approach. This includes listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills (the four core skills). Grammar is generally not taught through phonetically-based spelling instruction (as in some U.S. approaches), but rather in a contextualized manner within the four skills. Students learn grammar in relation to reading passages, listening activities, and writing practices. Phonetic-based spelling instruction is prevalent in Primary Education (ages 5-11), or as dedicated features in some specialized language learning paths.3.下列句子中,动词的用法正确的是:A. But is it true? Or, to put the matter less starkly, is there a connection between creativity and dishonesty in real people who are not bent on world domination, as well as in fictional supervillains? Writing in Psychological Science, Francesca Gino of Harvard University and Scott Wiltermuth of the University of Southern California suggest that there is—and that cheating actually increases creativity.Dr Gino and DrWiltermuth tested the honesty of 153 volunteers with a task that involved adding up numbers for a cash reward, which was presented in a way that seemed to them to allow them to cheat undetected (though the researchers knew when they did). This was sandwiched between two tests forcreativity, one of which was to work out how to fix a candle to a cardboard wall with a box of drawing pins*, and the other a word-association test. This combination showed not only that creative people cheat more, but also that cheating seems to encourage creativity—for those who cheated in theadding-up test were even better at word association than their candle-test results predicted. That result was confirmed by a second set of experiments, in which some people were given many opportunities to cheat and others few. The crucial predictor of creativity, the researchers confirmed, was the actual amount of cheating, not any propensity to cheat.A third experiment tested the idea that this is because both creativity and dishonesty require, as it were, a flexible attitude to rules. In this experiment volunteers were asked about their attitude to bossy signs, such as “no cycling” and “no diving” notices, after being allowed to cheat (again, in a way transparent to the experimenters) on a coin-tossing test. Cheats, it turned out, were less constrained to obey such signs. It is, it goes without saying, a long way from such acts of petty defiance to building a lair inside an extinct volcano and threatening Washington from it—or even to non-fictional acts of serious crime. But some sort of link exists, so this research does indeed suggest that Arthur Conan Doyle and Ian Fleming were on to something.21.What can be concluded from the passage about JanvesMoriaty and ErnstStavroBlofield?A They are two evil geniuses.B They are two psychologists.C They are two story-tellers.D They are two researchers.[答案] A22.Which of the following is closest in meaning to the underlined phrase ”were on to something” in the last paragraph?A were inspired by somethingB were going to do somethingC were worried about somethingD were aware of the nature[答案] D23.Which of the following describes the sequence of Dr. Wiltermuth’s research?A candle test, word assoviation test, adding-up testB candle test, word association test, adding-up testC adding-up test, candle test, word association testD adding-up test, word association test, candle test24.What does the underlined words “ the other” in paragraph 2 refer to ?A The trickB The testC The rewardD The combination [答案] B25.What conclusion can be drawn from this passage?A The more a person cheats, the more creative he is .B Cheating is likely to encourage creativity to some extent.C A person who cheats is more creative than a person who doesn’tD A person who is creative cheats more than A person who is less creative.
