策略:通过一些标志性词汇或者短语,我们可以更快地找到这些总结性句子,如:all in all, in short, to conclude, in consequence, in summary, in a word, as a result, therefore, accordingly, thus 等。

First, Second, Third… ; Firstly, Secondly, Thirdly… Finally; First of all, Then, In addition, Further, Furthermore, Besides, Moreover…

这种题目在文章中的线索非常明显,一般都带有如下的标志性词汇:for example, for instance, take … as an example, as, such as, like等。

考研英语阅读理解真题及解析(2篇)1、 When a new movement in art attains a certain fashion, it is advisable to find out what its advocates are aiming at, for, however farfetched and unreasonable their principles may seem today, it is possible that in years to come they may be regarded as normal。

2、 With regard to Futurist poetry, however, the case is rather difficult, for whatever Futurist poetry may be—even admitting that the theory on which it is based may be right—it can hardly be classed as Literature。

前一个分句的主句是“the case is rather difficult”,其中“however”表示此句与上一句之间是转折关系;缘由为“for”之后的局部,其中破折号之间的局部是插入语,表示一种让步,“on which it is based”是“the theory”的定语从句,“it”指代“Futurist poetry”。

引导定语从句的词叫关系词,常见的关系词有that,which,who,whose,whom,as,where, when,why等。

One reason they may feel th at way is that coffee contains caffeine (咖啡因). Caffeine occurs naturally in coffee, tea, and cocoa beans, which are used to make chocolate. But now food makers are adding it to many products, from potato chips to water. The U. S. government is especially worried about the proble m. That's why the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is stud ying the health effects of caffeine on young people. Studies s how that too much caffeine can make people nervous and unable to sleep. What's more, caffeine is habitforming. Those w ho consume it regularly and stop suddenly may experience he adaches and feel tired. One of the biggest concerns is the large amount of caffeine a dded to socalled energy drinks, like Red Bull. A 12ounce can of cola has about 35 milligrams of caffeine. A similar serving o f Red Bull contains more than three times that amount. The of is also working on caffeinesafety measures. “Teenag ers should not drink beverages that contain caffeine. They sh ould be aware of caffeine's effects on health and on how the b rain works. Take, for example, teenagers who consume caffei ne to stay awake and study for a test. They will remember les s of what they have just studied,” said Stallings, a member o f the institute.Companies that make products with added caffeine claim the y do not advertise them to teenagers. However, there is no la w to stop teenagers from buying them. So the FDA needs to s et limits on caffeine, especially in energy drinks. As for added caffeine in food, the government should just say no. If not, the amount of caffeine should be printed on food labels to remind consumers. The government must do that.Doctors say teenagers should avoid caffeine. If you need extr a energy, try these natural boosters: eat right, exercise, and get plenty of sleep.1.What is the U.S. government particularly concerned abo ut?A.The fact that coffee contains caffeine. B.The practice of adding caffeine to food.C.The measures of avoiding caffeine's effects. B.To tell us abo ut teenagers' addiction to caffeine.C.To show a drink which contains much caffeine. D.To sh ow people's concern about teenagers' health.3.What is Paragraph 5 mainly about?A.The measures of protecting teenagers from caffeine's effe cts.B.The process of the government's controlling the use of caf feine.C.The government's responsibility of taking care of teenager s.D.The risk of buying products containing caffeine nowadays. 4.The author may agree that ________.A.headaches and feeling tired are common in teenagers B.food makers add much caffeine to many products now C.caffeine is good and useful for teenagers' study D.getting enough sleep can make people energeticBSleeping in is one of the best parts of the weekend. After a lo ng, exhausting work week, sometimes all you want to do is sl eep. On_Friday_night,_you_slide_under_the_covers,_smiling_i n_anticipation. Now you can finally catch up on your sleep. Except you can't. When you open your eyes on Saturday mor ning, it's still early. If this were a weekday, you'd be up before your alarm goes off. So what's the deal?We hate to break it to you, but you've pretty much done this to yourself. Your body is very good at recognizing patterns and adjusting accordingly. If you've got a ninetofive job, you're gett ing up early five days a week. This effectively sets your body clock to wake you up at a certain time each day. You can shut off your alarm clock, but your body clock will just keep ticking. There's another reason that you probably don't want to think about: You're just not as young as you used to be. We need le ss sleep as we get older. Babies need between 16 and 20 ho urs. Teenagers should (but often don't) get nine hours a night. Younger and middleaged adults need eight hours. In general, the older you get, the harder it is to snooze the day away. Even if you do manage to sleep in, you may never fully catch up on your sleep. If your body needs eight hours every night a nd you only get six or seven from Monday to Friday, you'd hav e to sleep an extra five to ten hours on Saturday to make it up . And experts say even that may not be enough. The bottom line: Sleep when you can, and enjoy those extra weekend morning hours. He never invited us to play in his yard, but he was a very kind person. When Dr. Gibbs wasn’t saving lives, he was planting trees. He owned a large field and wanted to make it a forest. The good doctor had some interesting ideas about planting trees. He never watered his new trees. Once I asked why. He said that watering plants spoiled them, and that if you watered them, each baby tree would grow weaker and weaker, so you had to make things difficult for them and pick out the weaker trees early on.He talked about how watering trees made for shallow(浅的) roots, and how trees that weren’t watered had to grow deep roots in search of water under the earth by themselves. Deep roots were very important. So he never watered his trees. He’d planted an oak and, instead of watering it every morning,he’d beat it with a rolled-up newspaper. I asked him why he did that, and he said it was to get the tree’s attention.Dr. Gibbs died several years after I left home. Every now and then, I walked by his house and looked at the trees that I watched him plant about twenty-five years ago. They’re very big and strong now.I planted some trees a few years back and carried water to them for a whole summer. After two years of caring too much, whenever a cold win blows in, they shake a lot.Every night before I go to bed, I check on my two sons. Mostly I pray (祈祷) that their lives will be easy. But lately I’ve been thinking that it’s time to change my prayer. I know my children are going to face difficulties. There’s always a cold wind blowing somewhere, so what we need to do is to pray for roots that reach deep into the brave heart, so when the rains fall and the winds blow, we could face it strongly and won’t be beaten down.()1. We know from the reading the doctor ______.A. didn’t know how to plant trees at allB. wasn’t good at his own medical jobC. had his own ways of planting treesD. had nothing to do but plant trees()2. When Dr. Gibbs said, “…pick out the weaker trees early on.” he meant that ______.A. some weak trees would be easily found out at the beginningB. he would choose the weak trees to water earlierC. the weak trees would be sent to his patients laterD. he would not plant weak trees so early anymore()3. The passage tells us that the writer ______.A. should beat his trees with a rolled-up newspaperB. didn’t often water his treesC. didn’t have a large fieldD. took too much care of his tree()4. The writer wants to change his prayer, hoping that ______.A. his trees will be stronger than Dr. GibbsB. his trees will not be beaten downC. his sons will be better at planting treesD. his sons will be able to face difficulties()5.
