二、Main Content 主要内容

1. The source of information;

2. The purpose of writing. e.g. goods you are looking for, including name,

specification, quality, quantity, etc. Or, asking for sample book, catalogue,

price list etc.

三、Writing Guide 写作步骤

General enquiry

Step 1.Telling the addressee the source of information and making a brief

self-introduction(告知信息来源并做简要的自我介绍)

Step 2.Indicating the intention of writing the letter, i.e. to ask for a catalogue, samples or a pricelist.(说明写信的目的,如索要目录、样品或者价目表)

Step 3.Stating the possibility of placing an order and expectation of an offer (说明订购的可能性并期待得到发盘).

Specific enquiry

Step 1.Indicating the names and descriptions of the goods enquired for, including specifications, quantity, etc.(说明所寻购的货物名称,包括规格、数量等。)

Step 2.Asking whether there is a possibility of giving a special discount and what terms of payment and time of delivery you would expect.(询问对方是否有可

能提供特别折扣,陈述询盘人期待的支付条件和交货期)

Step 3. Stating the possibility of placing an order and expectation of an offer (说明订购的可能性并期待得到发盘).

Enquiries mean potential business, so they must be dealt with carefully and promptly.

1. When the goods are available, write the letter as per making offers

当有货可供时,信函写作参见报盘格式;

2. When the goods enquired for are out of stock.当无货可供时

Step 1.Expressing thanks for the enquiry. 表达对来信的感谢

Step 2.Regretting for being unable to supply and give explanations.

对不能供应表示歉意,并做解释

Step 3.Telling the addressee you will contact him or her once the goods are available.告知一旦有货将及时通知

Ⅰ. 告知写信的目的
