I have been assured by a very knowing（会意的，知情的，心照不宣的）American of my acquaintance in London, that a young healthy child well nursed is at a year old a most delicious, nourishing（nourishing food 滋补食品）, and wholesome （有益健康的）food, whether stewed（炖，煨）, roasted（烘，烤，焙）, baked（烘烤，焙）, or boiled; and I make no doubt that it will equally serve in a fricassee （油焖原汁肉块）or a ragout（蔬菜炖肉）.
