摘要

本文是以译代论的学年论文，选取“How the civil war changed the world”一文进行汉译。通过对此类历史回顾文本的翻译练习，初步探索此类文本的语言特点，并学会适当运用翻译技巧，不断完善。选文主要内容为美国内战对当时世界的影响。美国内战，又称南北战争，是美国历史上最大规模的内战，导致奴隶制度在美国南方最终被废除，并波及全世界。“How the civil war changed the world”一文分析了内战如何影响了世界，围绕民主、奴隶制等展开论述。本文分为三个部分。第一部分介绍翻译选材的来源及特点；第二部分为相应的译文；第三部分结合具体的翻译例子，讨论这篇文章的翻译原则和翻译实践体会，指出翻译过程中遇到的问题及相应的解决办法。

关键词：美国内战；历史回顾；翻译方法

Abstract

This paper is translation practice in place of thesis. The purpose of translating this text is to get to know the characteristics of this type of texts, learn to employ proper translating methods and thus develop translating skills in general. The passage is about the influence of the American civil war raging in nineteen century in which the northern union won the war and the slavery was abolished. It also had great impact on the world’s slavery system and accelerated the development of democracy. The paper is divided into three parts. The first part is an introduction to the original text and language features of the text. The Chinese version is available in the second part. The last part, Part III, is the review of translating principles and methods with examples in the translating practice.
