河北武邑中学2021-2022学年高一寒假作业英语学科(第十期)完成时间正月初九命制人:审查人:班级_________ 同学姓名_______________ 家长签字________________ASure, it's good to get along with your teacher because it makes that time you spend in the classroom more pleasant. And yes, it's good to get along with your teacher. Because, in general, it's smart to learn how to relate to the different types of people you'll meet throughout your life. But really, there's one super-important reason why you should get along with your teacher. Kids who get along with their teachers not only learn more, but also they're more comfortable asking questions and getting extra help. This makes it easier to understand new material and do their best on tests. When you have this kind of relationship with a teacher, he or she can be someone to turn to with problems, such as learning or school issues and bullying(欺凌)As a kid in elementary or middle school, you're at a wonderful stage in your life. You're able to take in lots of new and exciting information. Apart from that, you're able to think about all this information in new ways. Your teacher knows that, and in most cases, he or she is thrilled to be the person who's giving you all that material and helping you put it together. Remember teachers are people, too, and they feel great if you're open to what they're teaching you. That's why they wanted to be teachers in the first place! Some kids may be able to learn in any situation, whether they like the teacher or not. But most kids arc sensitive to the way they get along with the teacher, and if things aren't going well, they won't learn as well and won't enjoy being in class.1. Then you can divide your time among the questions to make sure they all get answered.Second, when you're doing an exam that involves long answers, it is a good idea to leave some space at the end of the answer so that you can add any extra comments that might come to mind when you reread your paper.Third, don't spend all of your time only on questions that you know answers to. because you will get a worse mark for answering some questions very well and some not at all.Fourth, it is worth taking a little extra time to make sure that your handwriting is neat. The examiner will be able to read it! Try to avoid spelling mistakes too!Fifth, the more prepared you are, the more likely you are to succeed.Sixth, keep calm. If you feel yourself getting worried, take a deep breath.Seventh, don't try to discuss the exam after you've finished it. For a short time between 1800 and 1865, British and American ships would go to Africa and buy Africans from people who forced young men and women to leave their villages. They were brought to coastal (沿海的)cities and put on ships which came to the states where cotton was grown. The American farmers would buy the Africans and put them to work picking cottons. The Africans had to work for these farmers all of their lives. It was President Abraham Lincoln who signed a law that slavery was unfair to the Africans. He thought all the black slaves should be set free. But the slave owners in the southern states did not agree with him. There was a fight over this disagreement and it was called the American Civil War. The southern states lost the war and Africans could now become free Americans. However, 100 years after Lincoln signed the law, some Amer ican blacks were not voting and did not have an equal chance to eat in a restaurant or ride on a bus.It was Martin Luther King, an American minister who began the Equal rights Movement in the 1960's. He was successful in telling the American people that American blacks were still not equal. His most famous speech was given in the capital city of American, Washington, D.C..His speech, I Have a Dream, is now taught in most schools of the world. Sometimes, people finally get hurt. Most problems with friendships come up because people are just too selfish to care about the things that their friends need. They care about their own needs much more, which makes it hard for friendships to work. However, being selfish is part of human nature. A person is put together in order to take care of themselves and their own needs, not necessarily those needs of other people. Even though being selfish is something that all humans are born with, it is something that everyone should be against. The best thing to remember when you are a friend to anyone is that you need to treat your friends the same way that you'd like to be treated(对待). This is wonderful advice for a friendship, because it is really the only way to make sure that you are giving your friends everything you would want to be given in a friendship. Whenever you have a question about how you should treat a friend, it is easy to find an answer simply by asking yourself what you would like your friend to do for you, if he or she was in your shoes.Even if you're always thinking about how you'd like to be treated, and your friends are too, there are problems that come up from time to time in each friendship, and it is important to understand how to deal with these problems so that you can build stronger and healthier friendships. Problems like friends getting boyfriends or girlfriends and not spending enough time with their friends, or even friends finding new friends and leaving old friends behind are problems that will probably come up with one or more of your friendships. It is important to know how to deal with these friend problems so that you can keep your friends and make new ones. No one wants to have a broken friendship.26.This passage mainly talks about ____.A.the importance of friendshipB.the advantages(益处) of friendshipC.the problems of friendshipD.the disadvantages(劣势) of friendship27.According to the writer, problems with friendship may appear when ____. A.one is honest B.one is selfish C.one is open D.one is kind28.According to the passage, the first and most important thing to be other people's friend is ____.A.to treat your friend as you like to beB.to give your friends whatever you haveC.not to hurt your friends' feelingsD.not to think of your own need any more29.What's the purpose of understanding how to deal with friendship problems?A.To have a comfortable life.B.To build stronger and healthier friendships.C.To be treated the way you want.D.To get a boyfriend or girlfriend more quickly.B【2021·四川宜宾高二上学期期末】After having more than a few acquaintances(相识的人) online,it might come a blow to keen social net workers like Barack Obama,or even Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg himself.According to a research, the average person has in fact twice as many online friends as physical ones. Users of socialnetworking sites have on average 121 online friends as compared with physical ones. The study also claims that people tend to be more open, confident and honest with their virtual friends than their “real〞ones.“For most people, the Internet is a way of keeping in touch with loved ones and friends, but for people who are isolated(隔离的) due to illness,it plays a more vital role, and can often act as a lifeline,〞 says Helen Oxley,a psychologist at Wythenshawe hospital.“People with illnesses often rely on the Internet to facilitate(促进) friendships, since they blog and use networking sites as a way of dealing with their illness. It can foster(培养) a sense of social connection for those who frequently feel isolated, which is important to psychological wellbeing.〞In wider society, the ways in which friendships are formed are changing, withpeople recognizing that they can develop deep and meaningful connections with others that they’ve never met,and may never meet. About one in 10 people has either met their best friends online,or believes they can make lifelong friends on the Web.The findings highlight how social introductions are also changing. AIt’s 5:00 in the morning when the alarm (闹钟) rings in my ears. I get out of bed and walk blindly through the dark into the bathroom. I turn on the light and put on my glasses. The house is still as I walk downstairs while my husband and three kids sleep peacefully. Usually I go for a long run, but today I choose my favorite exercise DVD Insanity. Sweat pours down my face and into my eyes. My heart races as I force my body to finish each movement. As I near the end of the exercise, I feel extremely tired, but a smile is on my face. It’s not a smile because the DVD is over, but a smile of success from pushing my body to its extreme limit. Some people enjoy shopping, smoking, food, work, or even chocolate. But I need exercise to get through each day. Some shake heads when they see me run through the town. Others get hurt when I refuse to try just one bite of their grandmother’s chocolate cake. They raise their ey ebrows, surprised by my “no thank you,〞 or by my choice to have a salad. Over the years, I have learned it’s okay to just say “no.〞I shouldn’t feel sorry for refusing food that I don’t want to eat.So what drives me to get out of bed at 5:00 a.m.? What gives me the reason to justsay no to ice cream? Commitment. A commitment to change my life with a way that reduces daily worry, increases self -confidence and energy, extends (延长) life and above all improves my body shape. A.the shop that sells milk and butterB.the food made out of cows such as milk and butterC.a farm where cows are keptD.a place where milk products are madeDThe term culture now is more used to describe everything from the fine arts to the outlook of a business group or a sports team. In its original sense, however, culture includes all identifying aspects of a racial group, nation, or empire: its physical environment, history, and traditions, its social rules and economic structure, and its religious beliefs and arts. The central beliefs and customs of a group are handed down from one generation to another. It is for this reason that most people regard culture as learned rather than innate. People acquire a culture because they are not born with one. The process by which a person develops a taste for regional foods, accented speech, or an outlook on the world over time, therefore, is known as enculturation (文化适应).Cultures are often identified by their symbols - images that are familiar and coated with meaning. Totem poles (图腾柱) carved with animals and creative figures suggest aspects of the Native American peoples of the Pacific Northwest but more literally represent specific tribes (部落). In Asia and India, the color of yellow is connected with temples while in ancient China it was a color only the emperor ,s family was allowed to wear. Thus, different cultures may respond to a symbol quite differently. For example, to some a flag may represent pride, historical accomplishments, or ideals; to others, however, it can mean danger or oppression. To individuals unfamiliar with cultures outside their own, the beliefs, behaviors, and artistic expression of other groups can seem strange and even threatening. A society that ranks all other cultures against its own standards is considered to be ethnocentric (from the Greek ethnos, meaning "people,〞 and kentros, meaning "center〞). A strongly ethnocentric society assumes also that what is different from its own culture is likely to be inferior and, possibly, wrong or evil. All people are ethnocentric to some degree, and some aspects of ethnocentrism, such as national pride, contribute to a well -functioning society. An appreciation for one ,s own culture, however, does not prevent acceptance and respect for anotherculture. History documents the long -term vigour and success of multicultural groups in which people from numerous and various cultural backgrounds live and work together. Extreme ethnocentrism, in contrast, can lead to racism - the belief that it is race and racial origin that account for variations in human character or ability and that one ,s own race is superior to all others.87. What does the word "innate〞 in Paragraph 2 most probably mean?A. Instinctive.B. Developed.C. Believable.D. Cultivated.88. Which of the following is true according to the passage?A. Different interpretations of a symbol help to distinguish one culture from another.B. An ethnocentric country opens welcoming arms to cultures different from its own.C. Culture consists of some positive features of a racial group, nation or empire.D. People from various cultural backgrounds often reach an agreement on some image.89. What can be inferred from the passage?A. All aspects of ethnocentrism can produce negative effects on a society.B. Racism is unlikely to bring about serious conflicts among different cultures.C. Respect and acceptance of different cultures are a proper cultural attitude.D. Countries with a strong sense of national pride play a superior role in the world.90. 2020-2021学年度英语高一寒假作业(一)-普通用卷

2020-2021学年度英语高一寒假作业(一)-普通用卷

2020-2021学年度英语高一寒假作业(一)一、阅读理解(本大题共8小题,共24.0分)AI must have always known reading was very important because the first memories I have as a child are almost about books. There was not one night that I don't remember mom reading me a storybook by my bedside. I was completely inspired by the nice way the words sounded.I always wanted to know what my mom was reading. Hearing mom say, "I can't believe what's written in the newspaper this morning," made me want to take it suddenly out of her hands and read it myself. I wanted to be like my mom and know all of the things she knew. So I carried around a book, and each night, just to be like her, I would pretend(假装) to be reading. This is how everyone learned to read. We would start off with sentences, then paragraphs, and then stories. It seemed an unending journey, but even as a six-year-old girl I realized that knowing how to read could open many doors. When mom said," The C-A-N-D-Y is hidden on the top shelf," I knew where the candy was. My progress in reading raised my curiosity, and I wanted to know everything. I often found myself telling my mom to drive more slowly, so that I could read all of the road signs we passed. Most of my reading through primary, middle and high school was factual reading. I read for knowledge, and to make A's on my tests. Sometimes, I would read a novel that my teacher asked us to, but I didn't enjoy this type of reading. I liked facts, things that happen in real life. I thought anything too general left too much room for argument.Yet, now that I'm growing and the world I once knew as being so simple is becoming more complex, I find myself needing a way to escape. By opening a novel, I can leave behind my worries and enter into a wonderful and mysterious world where I am now a new character. In these worlds I can become anyone. I don't have to write down what happened or what method the author was using when he or she wrote this. I just read to relax. We're taught to read because it's necessary for much of human understanding. Reading is an important part of my life. Reading satisfies my desire to keep learning. And I've found that the possibilities that lie within books are limitless.1.Why did the author want to take the newspaper suddenly out of mom's hands?A. She was eager to know what had happened.B. She wanted mom to read the news to her.C. She couldn’t wait to destroy the newspaper.D. She couldn’t help but stop mom from reading.2.According to Paragraph 3, the author's reading of road signs shows ___________.A. her special way to find a placeB. her eagerness to develop her reading abilityC. her effort to remind mom to respect traffic rulesD. her growing desire to know the world around her.3.The author thinks of novel reading as a way to___________.A. develop a love for learningB. explore a mysterious landC. get away from a confusing worldD. learn about the adult world4.What could be the best title for the passage?A. The Magic of ReadingB. Growing Up with ReadingC. The Pleasure of ReadingD. Reading Makes a Full ManBI stood behind the curtain, my hands shaking. As I listened to the crowd laugh at the host's jokes, I just thought why I believed I could do that. Two months earlier, we had signed up for improv (即兴表演) classes at a local theater. When I first heard about the improv classes, I was torn. I feared getting on stage and performing in front of strangers. However, I knew I wanted to work as a science communicator after finishing my Ph. D., so it seemed like the perfect opportunity to improve my communication ability and gain confidence thinking on my feet.During our first class, we learned the key concept of improv: "yes, and". If someone says that dogs are librarians, for example, then dogs are librarians. We don't question the logic; we say "yes" and continue with the scene as if nothing is wrong. To do this effectively, we wouldn't avoid second-guessing ourselves. The best improv happens when performers stay open to different possibilities. Over time, I started to enjoy our classes. I became better at listening and communicating clearly in the moment. That training came in handy 6 months ago, when I was giving a seminar about my science. I was surprised at a question that didn't grow out of the information I'd presented. Instead of getting flustered, I used that approach, and I found appropriate answers. Early on in graduate school, I would get stuck when my experiments produced unexpected data. But now, I no longer go into an experiment thinking that I already know the story my data are going to tell. Last year, I also got confusing data. Instead of getting discouraged, I kept exploring the data and ended up identifying a new type of cell—one that wasn't behaving as expected. If I hadn't stayed open to the possibility that the results were real, I would have missed the most exciting finding of my Ph. D.5.What did the author expect the improv classes could do?A. Help him know how to think independently.B. Help him rid his fear of appearing on the stage.C. Help him recover from his mental diseases.D. Help him improve his communication skills.6.What is the key approach of improv according to the text?A. Pretending to be clever.B. Communicating with others.C. Accepting what others say.D. Asking others some questions.7.What does the underlined word "flustered" in Paragraph 4 mean?A. Amused.B. Confused.C. Angry.D. Disappointed.8.What could we infer about the author from the text?A. He failed in getting his doctor degree.B. He got stuck after finding unexpected data.C. He found pleasure in exploring scientific data.D. He became confident about his scientific research.二、完形填空(本大题共20小题,共31.0分)One of the easiest things in the world is to become a fault-finder. During the interviews, the people told researchers that they were given colds by doctors and had to stay alone in a room for six days. The results showed that everyone in the study was equally(相等地) likely to get ill. Many people think that they have to accept whatever life throws at them. They'll say, "This is my fate, my destiny. I cannot change it."Of course not! You don't have to suffer needlessly. Your destiny depends on you, not on any other outer factors.I know someone who says she just accepts what life gives her because she has done everything she can to improve it. Guess what her lifestyle is? She wakes up in the morning, goes to work, es back home, relaxes, chats with people, watches TV, then goes to sleep. Next day, the same things cycle follows.Huh! Is this what she calls "doing her best"? She believes she has tried her best and just accepts it in her heart that this is the life that God has intended for her to live; that her luck can only change if God wills it. Of course God wants us to be happy and live our life to the fullest, but we have to do our share of exerting (运用) the effort to live the life of our dreams.Remember that you reap what you sow. You just don't sit around and wait for a million dollars to fall from the sky. You have to get off the couch, get your eyes off the TV screen, get your hands off the phone. Don't expect your luck to change unless you do something about it. If something goes wrong, don't just regard it as a temporary(临时的) setback; but use it as feedback. Learn your lesson, make the most of the situation, and do something to solve the problem. It's not enough to think positively(积极地); you also have to act positively. If someone's life is in the trouble, do you just hope and pray that things will turn out fine? Of course not! You get to do anything you can to save the person. So it is with your own life. It is not enough to hope for the best, but youhave to do your best. In other words, don't just stand (or sit ) there, do something to improve your life.46. Moussambani received a loud, standing applause(掌声) despite his slow time and became one of the unlikely heroes of the games. Now, 42-year-old Moussambani said that he went to the Sydney Games because he had been listening to the radio and heard a call for people to try out for the wild card spots on the Equatorial Guinea national team. The wild card allows the nonprofessional player to play in the Olympic Games. Therefore, although Moussambani could barely swim, he became the only person to turn up to join the team and was given a ticket straight to the Olympic Games. His only training was eight months of practice in a 20m hotel pool. After jumping off the block he set a quick pace early on but quickly grew tired, struggling to finish the race without drowning. Near the end of his race, Moussambani flagged and appeared to almost drown as he got close to the finish. People started to look for me in the village.”Just four years later, Moussambani halved his personal time to 56.9 seconds.“They invited me to Düsseldorf in Germany in 2006 for a show. I had to swim 100 metres with other swimmers and I did it in 52. 18. That was my best time,” he told the publication.Moussambani is famous in Equatorial Guinea and says he is proud to have made the world aware of his home country. Calligraphy is a special category (范畴) in China’s world of fine arts. Through the centuries Chinese characters have changed constantly and are mainly divided into five categories today: the seal script (zhuan shu), official script (li shu), regular script (kai shu), running script (xing shu) and cursive script (cao shu).Calligraphy involves a great deal of theory and requires many skills. Among the most outstanding calligraphers in ancient China were Wang Xizhi, Ouyang Xun, Yan Zhenqing, and Liu Gongquan, who are known for pioneering their own styles. In writing calligraphy, one will need a brush, paper, an ink stick and an ink stone, commonly referred to as the “Four Treasures of the Study”. There are different types of brushes. White goat hair, black rabbit hair and yellow weasel hair brushes are the main ones. According to their function, brushes are classified into three groups: hard, soft and medium. Brush sticks are usually made of bamboo, wood, or porcelain (瓷器); ivory or jade sticks are rare and precious. The ink stick is a unique pigment (颜料)used for Chinese traditional painting and calligraphy. The most famous ink stick is hui mo(Anhui ink stick), made from pines that grow on Huangshan Mountain in Anhui Province. Clean water is needed to grind the ink stick. Press the ink stick hard and rub it lightly, slowly and evenly against the ink slab to make thick, liquid ink. While paper comes in many varieties, Xuan paper, produced in Xuanzhou (today’s Anhui Province), is considered the best for Chinese calligraphy. The paper is soft and fine textured, suitable for conveying the artistic expression of both Chinese calligraphy and painting. With a good tensile (张力) strength and moth-proof (防蛀虫) quality, the paper can be preserved for a long time.Ink stones or ink slabs (平板) have been classified into three categories: Duan, She and Tao. Features common to all three are hardness and fineness. Although the stone is hard and fine, it is not dry or slippery. Using a hard and smooth stone, liquid ink can be produced easily by rubbing the ink stick against the stone.By handling the brush and ink skillfully and carefully, the artist can produce an infinite variety of calligraphic styles and forms.1. However, debate surrounds these artifacts and whether or not countries should return these pieces of culture if they were stolen or forcefully taken during colonization(殖民时期).By the 18th and 19th centuries, European countries such as Britain, France, and the Netherlands had colonized many African and Asian countries. During their rule, they seized artifacts and brought them to their own countries, where they are now on show in museums.Over the years, European museums have been asked to give back the artifacts. In 2009, Egypt demanded that France return five pieces of a wall painting from the tomb of Tekati. In 2012, Nigeria asked for the return of thirty-two cultural items from the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. In 2017, the Government of Benin in West Africa tried to reach an agreement with the British Museum to return their Benin Bronzes. The debate regarding this issue took a turn in 2018 when under President Emmanuel Macron, a report was released that directed that all heritage objects brought to French museums be returned. With the official release of this report, museums all across Europe began reconsidering their previous policies(政策) on colonial treasures. In France, twenty-seven artifacts had been identified for return, but only one has been returned. Then, on Tuesday, October 6, 2020, France’s National Assembly officially passed a bill promising the return of these heritage artifacts, but didn’t arrange a certain date. Those who suggest returning these objects to their homes argue that with technology enabling online museum tours, returning these artifacts to their homeland does not takeaway the opportunity to learn about them. Furthermore, the country owning the objects will receive a significant part of their heritage back, and these artifacts will be given a chance to be truly appreciated in homeland. Those against the return hold the view that culture is a shared treasure and the artifacts are in fact “cultural ambassadors (大使)” that promote understanding. They believe that while stealing them was wrong, history is full of “good” and “bad” actors. Moreover, they feel that keeping the cultural objects in the current museums has kept millions of artifacts safe from damage.5. What is Paragraph 3 mainly about?A. Requests for the return of cultural objects.B. Discussion about stolen artifacts’ protection.C. Debate on whether to give back the stolen artifacts.D. Demands for the museums’ ownership of the artifacts.6. Why did the museums reconsider their policies?A. French president promised to well protect the artifacts in the museum.B. French government agreed to send the artifacts back to their homeland.C. European countries officially agreed to give back the colonial treasures.D. President Emmanuel Macron demanded European museums return the artifacts.7. What can we learn from Paragraph 5?A. It is impossible for France to keep its promise.B. French government is confident about its policy.C. The stolen treasures can’t be back to their homeland soon.D. Artifacts are more appreciated in France than in other countries.8. People who consider the artifacts as “cultural ambassadors” may agree that __________.A. mistakes in history need correcting in timeB. artifacts will be better protected in homelandC. heritage objects belong to all the human beingsD. online museum tours will be popular in the future三、七选五The jobs of the future have not yet been invented.9 By helping them develop classic skills that will serve them well no matter what the future holds.CuriosityYour children need to be deeply curious.10 Ask kids, “What ingredients(配料)can we add to make these pancakes even better next time?” and then try them out.
