Grammar Points: 同位语从句
同位语从句在复合句中作同位语。

一般用that, whether, what, which, who, when, where, why, how等词引导, 常放在fact, news, idea, truth, hope, problem, information, wish, promise, answer, evidence, report, explanation, suggestion, conclusion等抽象名词之后，说明这些名词的具体内容，换言之，同位语从句和所修饰的名词在内容上构成同一关系，对其内容进行进一步说明。

1．That 引导的同位语从句。

大部分同位语从句都是由that 引导，虽然that 在句中不做任何成分，也没有实际含义，但是不可以省略。

后面常接that引起的同位语从句的名词有：
advice belief chance conclusion decision
fact feeling hope idea information
knowledge news opinion possibility probability
problem promise report rumour thought
truth warning wish announcement
注意：在表示“建议、命令、要求”等意义的名词如recommendation, suggestion, proposal, demand, order, requirement, desire, command 等之后的同位语从句要使用虚拟语气，即从句谓语部分要用“(should ) do”形式，期中should可以省略
Eg. The order came that we (should ) evacuate at once.
Anyone who applies for the position must meet the requirement that he or she (should) have a good command of English.
2. wh-引导的同位语从句。

在名词question, idea, doubt, problem 等后的同位语从句需要疑问词做引导词，如what, who, how, when, where, whether等。

需要注意的是，同位语从句不能用if引导。

whether it is true.
What had happened to him.
when the meeting will begin.
I have no idea where we should go.
who he is.
how he made it.
3. that 引导的同位语从句与关系代词that引导的定语从句的区别：
That引导同位语从句时，应在某些抽象名词之后，that只起连接作用，在从句中不担任任何成分。

That引导定语从句时，是作为关系代词，一方面起连接作用，另一方面要在从句中充当主语、宾语或表语。

Eg. The news that our football team won the match was encouraging.
The news that we heard on the radio was not true.
