• 诗歌是高度集中地概括反映社会生活的一 种文学体裁，它饱含着作者的思想感情与 丰富的想象，语言凝练而形象性强，具有 鲜明的节奏，和谐的音韵，富于音乐美， 语句一般分行排列，注重结构形式的美。

• 译者一也(Identification) 翻译是译文和原文矛盾的统一。（词汇词组 句子层面 段落全诗） • 译者艺也(Re-creation) 英语是形合的语言，表意比较精确，中文是意合的语言，比较 模糊，所以两者互译时，就需要译者艺术地创新。 • 译者异也(Innovation) 诗歌翻译可以创新，创新就难免会标新立异。年代久远的诗歌， 可能在原语中的理解已经不能确定了，不立异就不能翻译。 • 译者依也(Imitation) 翻译诗歌不能脱离原文的依据，“异”指的是译文脱离原文的 程度，“依”则是指译文接近原文的程度。 • 译者怡也(Recreation) 所谓“怡”，就是翻译的诗歌应该怡性悦语言形式，无论如何使用和选择上述五论，易是总 论。

第一篇译文如果仅仅当中国诗来读，倒也朗朗上口，但以 对照原诗，就发现它与拜伦的风格神韵相去甚远。且以中 国旧体诗来翻译英诗，由于受字数、韵律和平仄的严格限 制，往往难恰如其分地传达英诗的意义、意境和情调，诗 中所出现的意象都没有在译文中出现。格调翻译得古、高， 读起来让人反而想起了中国某朝某代。但译成古体诗也有 例外，像白莽翻译裴多菲的诗“声生命诚可贵，爱情价更 高。若为自由故，二者皆可抛”，虽是五绝，但是因为当 时翻译得特定的历史背景，风靡一时。也有一说，白莽的 译文只是对原作的改写，而非真正的翻译 第二篇译文流畅，用明喻代替了原诗的暗喻。译文与 原诗长短相当，也保留诗中的全体意象。但是读起来，不 是特别地朗朗上口，略有瑕疵。
译例第一阙前两行的问题已 作分析, 第四行含义并非 “不容干预”, 而是 “不露 行藏”。 第二阙逐字逐句直译, 甚至不定冠词也译成 “一 位”, 既违反汉语规范, 又背 离了诗歌语域。 第三阙更是不堪入目, 连语句都不通了, “一个民族 ,“ 众多的人口” 是歧义句。特 别是最后一行中的那 “一块 石头”, 喻义含混, 实在让读 者心里堵得慌。 为此, 创造性地运用各 种翻译技巧, 艺术性地利用中 文词语组合读音上的抑扬顿 挫来传达英语诗歌无所不在 的节奏。
技巧二：保留诗歌的意象
• 一般来说，译者应忠实地讲原诗意象再现 出来，而不应根据个人的喜好随意更改。 但是在有些情况下，由于语言表达、文化 传统以及欣赏习惯的不同，要做到一成不 变地保留原诗意象也是非常困难的。所以 在翻译得实践中，有时需要对意象进行灵 活的调整。

原诗是十四行诗（sonnet），每行都为五音步，每音步两音节，最后 两句是全诗的对偶句，对全诗进行总结 对翻译的评论： 就全诗的节奏形式而言，译文仔形式上与原诗较为接近，用词的变通 也不背离原意，但是对原诗风格的把握不当。最后两句，没能将诗人 含蓄、形象之处，表达出来。
