Affixing the

base part

The particularly easy, fast and safe installation is the main feature of

Weidmüller’s new photovoltaic junction box – for manual as well as for fully

automated production processes.

Only three small work steps are necessary to mount the two-piece housing

at the rear side of the solar panel and to connect the solder ribbons. Photovoltaic

The first step is to affix the ribbon carrier near the solder ribbons.

This is done by means of a prefixed adhesive pad that furthermore only

needs removal of the protective sheet. The fact that the Weidmüller system

does not require exact positioning may be extra helpful.

Positioning the

solder ribbons

The second step is to position the solder ribbons of the PV module onto

the contact blades of the ribbon carrier.

Once again, manual mounting is made easy:

Separating webs between the solder ribbons allow a clear positioning,

although it is not necessary to be meticulous.

In case of fully automatic assembly these easy process steps only involve

minor programming work and thus obviously less costs for the equipment

of automation machinery than other systems.

Installing

the junction

housing

The last work step is to fix the upper part of the housing onto the ribbon

carrier. The certified housing is completely equipped with all necessary

outgoing feeders.

Affixing the junction box and connecting the solder ribbons in a

single operation.

Silicone material in a specific flute is intended for fixing and sealing

(a double-sided adhesive pad, however, would do as well).

Pilot skids allow the reliable allocation of the tulip contacts in the upper

part of the housing onto the positioned solder ribbons.

No extra work step for the connection of the solder ribbons and outgoing

feeders – no extra soldering.
