we eat.

Step1 Leading in

Ask Ss what they know about organic farming. Collect their ideas on the blackboard.

Step 2 Skimming

Ask Ss to skim the passage and find the main idea of this passage and each paragraph.

1 Ask Ss to scan the passage to locate particular information and answer the following questions in Exercise 1 an then fill in the form about the methods and advantages in Exercise 2.

1.Farmers use natural waste from animal.This makes the soil richer in minerals and so

more fertile.

Step 4 Careful reading

Ask Ss to read the passage carefully and then write a summary of the passage following the procedure in Exercise 3.

1).What is organic farming?

2).What problems are caused by using chemical fertilizers?

3).Why do organic farmers grow peas or soybeans after corn or wheat?

Step 5 Retelling

Now please retell the text according to the following chart, you can discuss in groups. Organic farming

1.Crops growing with natural fertilizers.

2.Farmers prefer natural waste from animals.

Step 6 Language points
