文化“火锅”,既美味又营养

参考范文

What an interesting drawing in front of us! A hot pot is symbolically depicted in it by the painter. More interestingly, this hot pot has been given a beautiful name: “Culture hot pot”. As is shown in the picture, there are many delicious and nutritious cultural elements in this “Culture hot pot”, such as Confucianism, Peking Opera, Shakespeare, Einstein, and Swan Lake ballet. With the help of the Chinese description below the drawing, we know that, while experiencing the inevitable cultural exchanges as well as cultural clashes, people from diversified cultural backgrounds are seeking to exist in harmony.

Thanks to the means of modern transportation and communication, the world is getting smaller and smaller. Nowadays, the whole world community appears to be no more than a large globe village where the residents with different cultural backgrounds and values come together. It is an obvious fact that, in this modern world, the cultural progress has never been an isolated phenomenon of any one culture but the product of the frequent exchanges with other cultures.

Of course, some people are worried that culture fusion will result in the loss of our own culture. Different cultures, in fact, can absorb and influence from one another through cultural exchange. It has become an undeniable fact that cultural exchange is by no means a process of losing our own culture, but one of enriching a nation's own culture. Therefore, it enables us to bear our own national features wile exchanging with other cultures.

All in all, we can come to the conclusion that cultural exchange has become an indispensable part of the modern society. For one thing, the cultural exchange offers us a rare opportunity to learn from each other. For another, during the past three decades, the vision of the Chinese people has been broadened and they are not only concerned about the development of our own traditional

cultures but also eager to know more about the trends of cultural development of the whole world. So we are convinced that the combination of our traditional cultures with foreign cultural elements will bring us a better international community full of peace and harmony.

网络的“近”与“远”

参考范文

This picture gives us a vivid description of a spider web and many people are caught in the web. As can be seen from it, many people are communicating with the outside through the network in the isolated narrow places. Obviously, this imaginative and thought-provoking picture is suggestive in two important aspects.

On the one hand, the spider web is an image of the Internet and hi-tech communication which developed at a tremendous speed in the last few decades and fascinated people all over the world. Today, a net-user can contact anywhere in the world and access a huge pool of information by use of the Internet. In this sense, the Internet greatly shortens the distance between people and makes information more easily available. On the other hand, however, the Internet, while making distant communication easier, creates barriers for face-to-face communication. People talk more and more with strangers on the Net, but less and less with colleagues in the same office. People are busy chatting online and sending emails to distant friends, but are ignoring the real people around them. This is the ultimate irony of the modern technology.

All in all, it is no exaggeration to say that human beings have become the slaves of the new technology. We were closely connected on the net, but we are also trapped in an unreal world. Obviously, what the picture designer intends to convey to us is that the Net is bringing people closer as well as separating us apart.
