Dissertation
• This module aims to provide students with an opportunity to apply and develop their research skills and to extend their knowledge, understanding and critical faculties to a specialist area of interest.
• They will NOT chase you, it is your job to chase them!
• They will push you, challenge you, and possibly annoy you
• The more you work with them, the higher your grade will be
✓ Apply appropriate research methods in the investigation of a business issue.
✓ Identify and critically review relevant business concepts and theories from the available academic literature.
• Lectures will last about 90 minutes – opportunity for questions at the end

This is a module which is founded on the principle of independent learning:
• It is your project • You choose the topic • You conduct the reading and
research • You manage your time • Your supervisor is there to guide you,

• You have been appointed a supervisor – meet them in seminars!
• Your supervisor will be there to help you, if you do not use them you risk loosing significant marks
• The student will choose an academic area related to their programme of study, and apply their independent learning skills to research this area in depth, and provide recommendations with relevance for practitioners.
✓ Draw conclusions based on a critical analysis of evidence collected.
✓ Communicate research findings in an effective manner.
