Using the linear model to solve the practical

problems in logistics

ABSTRACT

The method and model in operational research study has being very mature already. As the logistics has being mature gradually, Our paper discusses the relations between the two disciplines. And research how to make use of the linear programming in operational research model by actual case analysis to solve the practical problems in modern logistics enterprises.

INTRODUCTION

During the second world war operations research and logistics has beginning as a formal subject. From the beginning, they are linked closely together. The typical cases of operations research applications are logistics operations or management , It can make a comprehensive reasonable arrangement through mathematical analysis and calculation according to actual requirements And making use of

manpower ,material resources, financial resources and other resources more economic and effective.

Practical application of managerial operational research is a very meaningful topic in modern logistics enterprises. Operations research as one of the theoretical basis of logistics system, it is aimed to provide techniques and tools to implement logistics system optimization. It is specific methods that the system theory in the applications of logistics.

1. Logistics transportation, storage preservation, packaging, handling and other specific links may be involved in quantitative analysis method of operations research .

2. Operations research studies the problems in the process of logistics operation through the method of quantitative analysis. So it can be more effective and economic to arrange and make use of the manpower ,material resources, financial resources and other logistics

resources. At the same time, it ,having more highly application value, can improve the work efficiency of the system.

Operations research methods are widely used in the logistics works. The branch has the linear programming, nonlinear programming , goal programming and so on. In the typical example of logistics enterprise application planning theory such as "transportation problem". Some materials from one location to another location, in the balance of supply and marketing at the same time, Setting flow and flow direction, to make the lowest total cost of transportation. Using the theory of planning also can solve the vehicle scheduling materials ", "pack goods", "logistics resources (personnel or equipment) assigned", "the optimal path", "resource allocation" and other logistics problems.

Management operational research is a significant task in modern logistics company's practical applying Operation research as one of the theoretical basics of logistics subject system, its effects providing technologies and tools to realize logistics system optimization ,and it also effects the application of specific methods of system theory in logistics .Firstly ,logistical transportation ,storing and

keeping ,packing ,loading and moving ,and in each concrete links may refer to the methods of logistics' ration analyzing .Secondly ,operational research is doing a study of a problem which will arise in the process of logistics operation by ration analyzing ,this can be more reasonable. Economically to arrange and use manpower ,material

resources ,financial resources and other logistics ,meanwhile can improve system's work efficient and have higher practical values .

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION

Candy is one of the main products of a food company distribution. Below it is equipped with three processing plants, daily production of candy, respectively are: A1-7 t, A2-4 t, A3-9 t. The company put the candy respectively for four outlets sales area, regional sales of every day respectively are: B1-3 t, B2-6 t, B3-5 t, 6 B3 - t. Known from each plant to each sales salesroom per ton rate as shown in the table, asking how the food companies should be dispatching under the condition of meet the needs of the sales department sales situation, make the total freight costs to a minimum.
