5.Existing situation analysis: 5.1 Existing urban structure Problems: Major structure of this area is definite, but functional orientation of each block is undefined. Structure of secondary roads has to be adjusted. Resolution: function of the whole area should be rationally arranged. Landmark building of each block makes individual function of each block more definite. By using water system and landscape greenbelt to strengthen relations among all blocks, people can get to other places more convenient and fast; By creating more lively and freedom space, people are willing to stop and enjoy the space.
5 现状分析 5.1 现状城市结构 问题：区域主结构明确，但区域内各地块功能定位不明确，次级道 路结构有待调整。 解决：对整体区域功能进行合理定位和安排，使其各空间性质明 确。各地块地标性建筑使各区域个性功能更为明确。利用水系和景 观绿带加强各区域之间的联系，使人们可以更快速便捷的到达。创 造更为活泼自由的空间，使人们乐于停留并享受其道路空间。
3 文化 昆山老城是历史悠久的古镇，周边保留的古镇有“中国第一水 乡”——周庄、“中国博物馆之乡”——锦溪镇、淀山湖镇、千灯 镇和巴城镇。长江路向南直接连接古镇旅游片区，是中心城区和文 化古镇之间的快速道路和重要纽带。长江路将成为两大地块文化和 经济的交流通道，互相带动发展的关键。
4 水系 长江路规划范围内水系资源丰富， 除清阳港、太仓塘等主要航道 外，区域内有多条水系延伸，形成当地独有的特色。水系也为提升 该地块生态景观提供了先决条件。
3. Culture Kunshan is an ancient town with a long history. In its surrounding area, many ancient towns are preserved such as “China’s First Water Town”—Zhouzhuang and “China Museum Village”—Jinxi Town, Dianshan Lake Town, Qiandeng Town and Bacheng Town. Changjiang Rd south connects with tourism area, so it is expressway and key tie between downtown area and cultural ancient towns. Changjiang Rd will become communion channel of the two blocks for culture and economy.
Project Background
1.Summary Kunshan is a famous cultural city with a long history, and it is also a significant city in Shanghai Economic Circle and Suxichang (Suzhou, Wuxi and Changzhou) Economic Circle. Changjiang Rd is south-north Axis of Kunshan central economic area, and also is a landscape avenue in the entrance of Huning Superhighway. Design extension of this project totals 7.8km, with a land-use area 480ha. This design aims to confirm Changjiang Rd View and city’s functional orientation. Create a pleasant urban space by urban design of Landscape Avenue and districts on both sides of the Avenue. A modern cultural and ecological center which takes Landscape Avenue as its main axis, will be built

2 区位 2.1昆山区位及特点 昆山市东依上海，处于上海外圈的辐射范围，西邻苏州，四周与常 熟、太仓、苏州市的相城区和上海市的嘉定区、青浦区等二产发达 的区域接邻，区域优势明显。独特的地理优势和独有的历史文化， 使昆山成为经济发达、商贸交流繁荣的特色中型城市。
2.2昆山区中心城综合片区区位及特点 中心城综合片区位于昆山市中部，北接高新技术产业区，南接吴淞 江工业园区，西面与阳澄湖旅游区相连，是昆山的核心区。中心城 片区内新老城区结合，片区内集城市内环外环、铁路轨道交通、立 交于一体，交通体系发达。
2. Geographical Location Geographical location and feature of Kunshan: Kunshan City east connects Shanghai, west reaches Suzhou. Kunshan also borders Changshu, Taichang, Xiangcheng Districts of Suzhou and Jiading and Qingpu District of Shanghai, so it has a very advantageous geographical location. Unique geographical advantage and particular historical culture make Kunshan become a characteristic medium-sized city with developed economy and prosperous trade communication. Geographical location and feature of Kunshan Central Downtown Central Downtown is located in the center of Kunshan. North connects with High-tech Industry Park, south borders Wusong River Industry Park, west connects with Yangcheng Lake Tourism Area. Inside the area, old and new buildings are combined and it has a developed traffic system centralizing inner-ring, outer-ring, railway traffic, elevated road as a whole. Geographical location and feature of Changjiang Rd Planning Area Changjiang Rd Planning Area is located in the Central downtown, and it’s the main axis to run through the whole area. As trunk road of city, it north reaches Changshu and south connects Zhouzhuang, and also it runs through Huning Railway, Jinghu Express railway and Huning expressway. This planning area is situated in the center of Kunshan, with Ancient Town and New Town in both its wing, so it is an integrated area combining modern development and historical cultural feature. Changjiang Rd is a symbolic landscape avenue which can show Kunshan’s modernization and historical culture.
5.2 现状交通规划 问题：现长江路道路宽敞，但仍然有交通拥挤现象。主因是该地块 道路密度过低，导致大量交通都涌向长江路，这样不仅降低了长江 路的行驶速度，同时，车辆未合理分流更降低了该道路的景观生态 质量。 解决：长江路道路红线基本不改动，在该区域内增加道路环线及次 级道路，提高区域内道路密度，合理分流车辆；增加道路景观及人 文活动步行街，提高道路的生态景观质量和人文气息。

4. Water System Water resources are very rich in planning extension of Changjian Rd. Besides major sea-route of Qingyang Harbor and Taicang Pond, many other water systems are extended in this area. Water system offers precondition for advancing eco-landscape of this area.
