TOEFL SPEAKING question 1 (8 samples)

TOEFL SPEAKING question 1 (8 samples)

What was your best class in school? The best class in school was my English class. The first reason is the teacher’s bright and positive personality. I remember this class the most because the teacher always smiled whenever she entered the classroom. She made everyone become enthusiastic about the class. Also, she never yelled or scolded the students and always encouraged and comforted them. The second reason is the class atmosphere. Everyone in the class participated well by answering many questions even though they were not fluent speakers of English. They even formed study groups and motivated one another. So I ended up getting an A+.What makes you choose a restaurant? When I choose a restaurant, I make ample parking my top priority. Parking cars downtown is not easy and it sometimes takes an hour to find a place to park. If parking is not available, I’d rather not go. The second thing I consider is the atmosphere. When I’m having quality time with my friends and family, I’d like to have a meal somewhere where the atmosphere is relaxed. If I have to deal with a long line and finish my meal and get up immediately, there’s no point to eating out. What’s your dream job?My dream job is an engineer. Being technology-savvy in one’s specificfield is something I really admire. But personally, I get blank out when talking about technology. Talking about formulas and stuff makes me think I’m from another planet. Secondly, I prefer to move and be active. If I do research for hours and hours I’ll feel sick and tired of my work, and this will make me lose interest in my field. So working in front of the computer and staying in the lab is something I can’t stand. For these reasons, I admire an engineer but I don’t think it’s a perfect job for me.What customs for your country should be adopted in other countries? First of all, I think the diet plan is something people should adopt. Koreans eat lots of vegetables which are good for their health. They also eat less meat compared to other countries. A diet relatively low in meat cuts fat intake and makes a person feel better. The second thing is respect for others, especially the elders. Respect for others according to seniority is a pillar of Korea’s traditions, even though there are people who do not deserve it. If people respect each other, they have fewer problems in their relationships and in society as well. What was the most memorable event in your high school? The most memorable event in high school was my graduation. The first reason is that I was able to look back on my school life. I was a bad student at first because I received low grades and was not motivated tostudy at all. But because of the teacher’s encouragement and motivation, I was able to pull myself together and study hard. And in the end, I graduated with honors. This day helped me remember my wandering days and my best teacher. Another reason is that it was time for me to say goodbye to a part of my life and enter into a new one. Graduation made me realize the possibilities that lay ahead of me. It made me put myself in perspective and think about what I should do in the future and gather all the valuable lessons from school. So for these reasons, the most memorable event in high school was my graduation. What is your favorite public place? My favorite place to hang out with my friends is the pub. The first reason is that I can enjoy beer with my friends. I love the cool, refreshing taste of beer, and it’s best to drink it at a pub rather than at home. Although it’s more expensive, I enjoy the feeling of drinking beer at a pub while talking with my friends. The second reason is that I love the atmosphere. My friends and I can reminisce about our childhood days, or talk about girls or even our futures there. We can share that special bond between us and think back over our lives. For these reasons, my favorite place to hang out is the pub. What’s the best invention over the last 100 years?I think the greatest invention until now is the telephone. The first reason is that it enables us to communicate with people from all over the world. It’s fascinating to know that I can contact whoever I want within a few seconds just by picking up the phone and dialing the number. Before the telephone was invented, people had to travel miles on foot to deliver messages. But with the telephone, there’s absolutely no need to go through all the trouble. Another reason is that I can bond with my friends. If it weren’t for the telephone, I don’t think I would be able to build special relationships with friends. I still contact my elementary, middle and high school friends by talking to them over the phone.。

1. Some people think it is very important to have social interactions with neighbors. Others feel it is not important for neighbors to know each other. Which do you agree with, and why?I actually believe that interacting with your neighbors isn’t so important. But when I tried to think of why I feel that way, I realized the reasons are personal and complicated. Firstly, knowing my neighbors isn’t a priority for me because most of my friends and family live outside my neighborhood, it’s convenient to keep in touch with them by social application. What’s more, I already spend a lot of time socializing with my friends and colleagues, and don’t have much time left over to get to know people who live in my immediate area.2. Your friend wants to lose weight. What advice would you give your friend and why?Answer 1:If my friend wanted to lose weight, I would recommend that he or she eat more frequently but smaller portions and do regular exercise. I have a family member who was successful in losing weight by drastically cutting back her calorie intake, but I saw the dangers of this firsthand. I tried to tell her that research says that eating smaller portions more often and exercising regularly was the right way to lose weight. She did exercise, but I think it’s important to exercise properly and safely and work yourself up to more intense workouts rather than to start going hard right from the get-go. To sum up, I know it’s possible to lose weight in other ways, but this is the advice I would offer to my friend if she wanted to lose weight.Answer 2:If my friend wanted to lose weight, in the beginning I would recommend that he or she eat more frequently but smaller meals. According to research eating more regularly can positively influence our metabolism, meanwhile it can help us keep blood sugar levels stable.Secondly, working out on a regular basis is also important. Not only does it help us burn more calories, but lower risk of many diseases like diabetes and obesity. To sum up, I know it’s possible to lose weight in other ways, but this is the advice I would offer to my friend if she wanted to lose weight.3. Some people prefer to read physical books made from paper, while others prefer to read electronic books on a digital device. Which do you prefer and why? I’ve actually talked to many people about this before. I personally prefer to read real, physical books as the following reasons.First and foremost, I like the smell and the sound of the pages turning. Books have a distinct smell and the feel of them in your hand is not the same as holding an e-reader of some kind. Also, I like to be able to write in a book if I want or take notes. I also believe that technology will almost entirely take over and books will no longer be printed. So, I thinkthat having real books is important as they will have a totally unique value when this happens. So, that’s why I prefer to read physical books rather than electronic books on a digital device.4. Some people like participating in a performance like the theatrical or musical show. Others prefer to be in an audience watching those plays. Which do you prefer?I firmly believe that participating in a performance benefits more than just to be an audience, the following reasons will sufficiently illustrate what I say.As for the very first reason, it is apparently because stage shows help people think outside of the box and understand how to appraise a situation. In fact, performing arts have been regarded as one the best methods of improving one's self-confidence and self-esteem over time.People will become more confident going into unfamiliar situations which is able to help them a lot to deal with new challenges successfully. What’s more, communication skill will also be improved with exposure to such an environment. Because feedback and discussion are important parts of a stage show, which will help people cooperate with others. For example, back in my high school, when me and my classmates prepared a show for our graduation ceremony. All of us expressed our opinions, then selected the best ones, finally we performed an enjoyable show.To sum up, I prefer participating in a performance.5. Some people prefer sending messages while others prefer making phone calls directly, which one do you prefer?Key points: trendy, less intrusive, convenient when noisyNowadays, sending a text message has become more popular than making a phone call. There are numerous reasons available to justify this statement. In my opinion, there are a lot more advantages than disadvantages to the practice of sending text messages. One the one hand, to send text messages to others is because it’s keeping up with the times. For instance, a survey taken by a university reveals that almost 70% of the younger prefer to use WhatsApp or WeChat to text their friends rather than using a voice call to speak. According to young people, using a messaging application is trendier than using a voice call application. On the other hand, texting is a quick and efficient way to convey information. Also, a text message is much less intrusive and impersonal than a voice call. It gives the recipient to take their own time to reply whereas when you make a call, you could cause inconvenience to the other person by calling at the wrong time. However, when you leave a text message, the other party is not disturbed, and they can decide whether they want to reply or not. Another advantage of texting is that it is very convenient. There are certain environments which are unsuitable for making voice calls. Forexample, you can’t make a voice call from a highly noisy or very quiet environment. In conclusion, the practice of sending text messages certainly has a few disadvantages. For example, we may not get an instant reply. Even so, texting has many advantages over voice calling because it is cheaper, less intrusive and more convenient.Other points: Alleviating the reaction-- avoid real eye contact and a person’s face expression; Ease of use; Easy to remember; Less stressful; Multitasking friendly6. Some people prefer to give their opinions immediately. Others prefer to wait and listen to others’ opinions before giving their own. Which one do you think is better?Personally speaking, I prefer to wait and listen to others’ opinion before giving my own. Not only because it allows us to make fewer mistakes but think about the big picture, the following reasons will sufficiently illustrate what I say.Firstly, haste makes waste. If I give my opinions too fast, I will probably just jump into conclusions and I can’t have a deep thought about it. Several seconds of wait won’t hurt. For example, when I was a student, I used to answer any question immediately. Sometimes, I was in a hurry to answer the question before anyone else without enough thinking which led me to misinterpretation. In addition, I can get a more holistic view in the process of listening to others’ opinions.I will think about from their perspective if listen to other’s viewpoint in the first place. Asa result, I can integrate their ideas into mine and get a whole thought. Thus, I prefer to wait and listen to others’ opinion firstly and develop mine later.7. Your university will allow people from the local community to learn the course on campus, they could enter into the class, but can’ t ask questions and don’ t have assignments. Do you think this is a good idea?Explain why or why not?Personally speaking, I don’t believe not allowing them to ask questions and no assignments is a good idea for the following reasons.First, if the people from local community join our class voluntarily, they must be very interested in this course and may get involved with this field. Therefore, if they are allowed to ask questions, which might be insightful and inspired. What’s more, their opinion may also help us have a deeply understanding of the course. Sometimes they may interrupt the teaching process, but we benefit more from their opinion.Secondly, having assignments not only help them review the course but increase theopportunities of the interaction with them. Then we can build a study team with community members, finishing the assignments together, which would help us a lot.8. Should children solve the problem by themselves or with the help of their parents?I strongly believe that children should solve the problem by themselves. The following reasons will sufficiently illustrate my point.First and foremost, solving problem by themselves is to help them to survive difficulty and unpleasant feelings. When our children face tough problem, they may feel frustrated, disappointed and sad, but they need to learn that they can manage these negative feelings when they inevitably arise. This is helping to build resilience and coping mechanisms and develop emotion management ability. In addition, it can help children to develop their ability of independent and logics thinking instead of seeking help immediately when they get stuck, which is critical capability when they grow up. For example, when I was a child, sometimes I would ask for help from my mother when I met problem, however, she would direct me to think and find the solution rather than telling me the directly. Now I have excellent problem-solving ability and perform better than my colleagues.9. Describe an important festival in your country. In speaking of festivals, as we all know China is a country of numerous festivals and we love to celebrate different occasions whole-heartedly. In fact, there are so many festivals in China and it is quite tough for me to pick a particular favorite. I would love to talk about the Spring Festival, which is also known as Chinese Lunar New Year, as I personally enjoy it quite a lot.The Spring Festival is the biggest festival in our country and this festival touches every single street and every single citizen of China. I suppose it is somewhat like the Christmas festival is in Western countries in terms of celebration and as the New Year festival in terms of its norm. People get together with their family members during this time and they seem happy for that. Many stores and businesses remain closed during this time and people cook delicious food, visit relatives & friends, watch TV, wear new dresses and welcome New Year.I also contact some of my friends and enjoy our time together.I invite them to have dinner with us, and I often roam around the streets with them. Welcoming the New Year is another important aspect of this festival. We wish each other a happy and prosperous new year and exchange gifts with friends and family members.10. Do you agree or disagree:“The most important lesson can’t be learnt inclass.”I totally agree with the statement that “The most important lesson can’t be learned in class”The lesson we learned in class mostly is basic knowledge and academic skills. What we learn off school is much more practical. For example, you will never learn how to maintain successful relationship with your colleagues when we are in school, but it’s crucial to survive in the fierce competition in a company. In addition, you will never learn how to make a career development in classroom, but outside of school, we’ve got have to consider for our future, about the next 5 or 10 years of planning. These are not considered in school, but we have to learn in society.。

Speaking TipsFor TOEFL iBTUseful tips: (suitable for all questions☛ Make it NATURAL , pauses, such as “well”, “um”, and “you know”, are advisable, but don’t do it too much.☛CORRECT your mistakes as soon as you find out, for example, “... I really likest anding in, I mean, ON the mountain,”(I know it’s a bad example. What I’m trying to clarify is that it is OK to make mistakes, but you gotta correct it once you made it. so the examiner would not count down your score.☛ There is NO NEED to use freaking words, like “exonerate”, which means absolve, and “flamboyant”, which means showy. But those words are good to use in your essay.☛ “The FIRST way, the LAST way, the NEVER FAILING way to develop self-confidence in speaking is--TO SPEAK.” --Dale CarnegieIndependent speaking (Question 1 & 2In this section, you are asked to present your own opinion and provide examples to support your ideas.Useful tips:☛ Your answer should be as SPECIFIC as possible. You need to stick to a point UNTIL you finish it, have done with i t, and need never return to it again.☛ The key to score high is to make each point WELL-DEVELOPED , and that DOES NOT mean you need to make as much points as you can, two would be great.☛ Truth and REASONABLE LIES are totally acceptable.☛DO NOT say “I have three(or whatever reasons to support my idea”, or some thing like that after you state your opinion. There is noguarantee that you are able to finish your answer within 45 seconds. Instead, you can say “I have a couple of reasons to say.”Question 1 Your answer can go like this:“Personally, I would have to say that, um, my favorite ... is ... . And there are a couple of reasons to name. The most important thing is that, you know, ... . What’s more, ... . So that’s why ... .”Question 2 Your answer can go like this:“Well, in my opinion, I would definitely agree with the point that, um, ... . The first reason that I wanna say is that ... . More importantly, ... . So, uh, that’s why I choose ... for the two reasons listed above.”Daniel’s Speaking TipskevinkokomIntegrated speaking (Question 3, 4, 5 & 6In this part, you are asked to paraphrase the man/woman’s attitude first, and then list the reasons s/he gives. You are NOT asked to present your opinion towards this problem.Question 3Your answer could go like this:“The school has implemented a new policy that ... due to ... . And the man/woman holds a positive/negative view towards the announcement. The first reason s/he gives is that ... . And the second one is based on the fact that ... .”Useful tips:☛ In the reading part, DO NOT waste your time on taking notes, it is unnecessary. Just figure out what the announcement is mainly talking about, you do not need to say anything about it after all.☛ When listening, just write down THREE major points--attitud e, reason 1 & reason 2. You can use “+” and “-” to represent positive attitude and negative attitude.☛ Make sure that you get ALL the reasons that the man/woman gives. Any thing missed will lower your score.☛ DO NOT spend too much time explaining why the school has pull out the policy, simple words would be fine.☛DO NOT spend too much time retelling the first reason, you should finish talking about it in 20 seconds.Question 4Your answer can go like this:“In the lecture, the professor mainly talked about the theory that ... . To reinforce the theory, the professor gave two reasons in his speech. The first one is that … . The other one is that … . And that’s the two reasons the speaker presented to explain his idea.(The conclusion is optional” Useful tips:☛ Find the KEY words as soon as possible and then write them down. This is to make sure that you will know what the professor is gonna talk about.☛ Pay attention to the JARGONS in order to get familiar with the words that you don’t know before.☛ Do not p anic if you don’t know anything about the subject, because your opinion is NOT included.Question 5In question 5, you are asked to paraphrase the man/woman’s problem and then retell the solutions that the woman/man comes up with. And for this time, you should make a choice between the two.Your answer can go like this:“In this conversation, the man/woman is having a hard time dealing with the problem that … . And the woman/man offers him/ her two possible solutions. One is … . The other is … . And if it w ere my choice, I would choose the former/latter one, because ... .”Useful tips:☛ The OPTIMAL time allotment is: 10 seconds for the problem, 17 seconds for each solution, and 10 seconds for your choice and why, and about 6 seconds pausing throughout your answer.☛ DO REMEMBER that you HAVE TO state your opinion in your answer. BUT do not spend too much time on that.☛Make your answer as SIMPLE as it can be, you really don’t have enough time to cover everything mentioned in the conversation.☛ DO say “the m an/woman offersher/him TWO(or THREE solutions.” This is to ensure that you get all the solutions even if you can’t finish you answer in time, so the examiner will still give you a good score. Question 6In question 6, the speaker usually gives two examples to explain a theory or a phenomenon. So your main job is to find what the theory or the phenomenon is, and jot down the examples that the professor presents in the lecture.“In the lecture, the professor provides two examples to illustrate the phenomenon/t heory that … . The first one is that … . Another example Is that … . Andthat’s the two examples the speaker presented to explain the theory/phenomenon.(Still, the conclusion is optional”. (You can make adjustments on this style according to different lecturesUseful tips:☛ The OPTIMAL time allotment is: 15 seconds for the theory/ phenomenon, 20 seconds for each example, and about 5 seconds pausing throughout you answer.☛ Question 6, to a certain extent, is quite similar to question 4. However, Q6 is even HARDER because you don’t have the chance to read anything about the lecture. So, stay ALERT while you are listening.☛ Take as many details as you can, it HASN’T to be written in English, CHINESE is fine! Choose whatever the EASIEST way for you.☛ You should catch the TRANSITIONAL WORDS, such as “what’s more” and “moreover”, which indicate that the professor is gonna talk about another point.。

The university has decided to discontinue its free bus service for students. The reason given for this decision is that few students ride the buses and buses are expensive to operate.Currently, the buses run from the center of campus past university buildings and through some of the neighborhoods surrounding the campus. The money saved by eliminating the bus service will be used to expand the overcrowded student parking lots.

tpo76托福口语

tpo76托福口语

tpo76托福口语In TOEFL speaking task 1, you will be asked to express your opinion on a specific topic. One such topic is tpo76, which revolves around the issue of whether it is better to have a few close friends or many acquaintances. This topic can be approached from various perspectives, including the importance of deep connections, the benefits of a larger social network, the impact on mental health, the role of social media, and personal experiences. From one perspective, having a few close friends is highly valuable. Deep connections with a select few individuals allow for a greater level of trust, understanding, and emotional support. These close friends can be relied upon during times of need, providing a strong sense of belonging and security. Moreover, thesefriendships often involve shared experiences, memories, and inside jokes, which further strengthen the bond. The depth of these relationships can lead to a higher level of satisfaction and happiness, as they provide a sense ofcompanionship and intimacy that may be lacking in larger social circles. On the other hand, having a wide network of acquaintances also has its advantages. A larger social network exposes individuals to a diverse range of perspectives, cultures, and experiences. This can broaden one's horizons and foster personal growth. Additionally, a larger network can provide more opportunities for professional advancement, as acquaintances may offer job recommendations or connect individuals with potential employers. Furthermore, a wider social circle can be beneficial for socializing and networking, allowing individuals to attend various events and gatherings and meet new people. When considering the impact on mental health, having a few close friends may be more beneficial. Close friendships provide emotional support, which can help individuals cope with stress, anxiety, and other mental health issues. These deep connections offer a safe space for individuals to share their thoughts, feelings, and concerns without fearof judgment. In contrast, a larger social network may lead to feelings of superficiality and loneliness, asindividuals may struggle to form meaningful connections with a large number of people. The rise of social media has also influenced the dynamics of friendships and acquaintances. While social media platforms allow individuals to connect with a larger number of people, they often promote shallow interactions and a false sense of connection. People may have hundreds of online friends or followers, but these relationships may lack the depth and authenticity of true friendships. Inthis digital age, it is crucial to distinguish between the quantity and quality of relationships, as the former does not necessarily guarantee happiness or fulfillment. In my personal experience, I have found that a balance between having a few close friends and maintaining a wider social network is ideal. Close friendships provide a strong support system and a sense of belonging, while a larger social circle exposes me to new ideas and opportunities. Both types of relationships have enriched my life indifferent ways and have contributed to my overall well-being.In conclusion, the debate between having a few close friends or many acquaintances is subjective and depends on individual preferences and circumstances. While deep connections with a select few can provide emotional support and satisfaction, a larger social network offers diverse perspectives and professional opportunities. The impact on mental health and the role of social media further complicate this issue. Ultimately, finding a balance that suits one's needs and values is key to cultivatingfulfilling relationships and a sense of belonging.。

Why or why not?Response:Yes, I strongly believe that individuals should strive to achieve a balance between work and leisure time. Balancing these two aspects of life not only improves overall well-being but also enhances productivity and overall quality of life.Firstly, having leisure time allows individuals to recharge and rejuvenate themselves. By taking breaks from work, individuals reduce stress levels and avoid burnout. For example, studies have shown that individuals who engage in regular leisure activities, such as hobbies or spending time with family and friends, are more likely to experience better mental health. In addition, balancing work and leisure time helps individuals become more productive in their professional lives. Adequate leisure time provides individuals with an opportunity to think creatively and problem-solve more effectively. When individuals are constantly working without breaks, theirefficiency and productivity tend to decrease. Thus, balancing work and leisure time can actually result in better overall performance. However, some argue that dedicating too much time to leisure activities can lead to laziness and a lack of motivation. While this may be true for some individuals, it is important to recognize that leisure time, when managed effectively, can enhance motivation and personal development. By engaging in activities that inspire passion or learning, individuals can develop new skills and interests that ultimately benefit their personal and professional lives. In conclusion, achieving a balance between work and leisure time is essential for individuals to lead fulfilling lives. By allowing time for leisure, individuals can improve their mental health, enhance productivity, and foster personal growth. A harmonious integration of work and leisure ultimately leads to better overall well-being and satisfaction.Note: The above response is purely fictional and used as a template to showcase the structure and format of a TOEFL speaking response. Actual responses should be based on personal experiences and knowledge.。

Question 11. Person=Personalities1. ParentsMy mother is the person whom I admire most due to her so many good personali ties like talented, tolerant and most of all, her spirit of dedication. First of all, she is such a talented person who not only has great achievements in her work, but also can cook delicious food for my dad and me. Furthermore, since she is well-e ducated, she can tolerate different opinions from varied people. And the most bea utiful thing about her is that she has a beautiful mind. Thrifty as she is in the dai ly life, she saves the money and donates all of them to the people who may need them. The ways she does and thinks make me want to be the person like she is. That is why I think my mother is the person I admire most.2. Teacher (万能人物;可替换的角色有:parent, leader, frie nd, ideal spouse, celebrity)A good teacher should have the following personalities. First of all, a good teacher makes herself available to all students and she knows which students need extra assistance. Furthermore, a good teacher is an effective communicator, who knows when she needs to change her communicating techniques to be sure students can grasp instructional concepts. What is more, she would show her great ability when her students are making mistakes, she would let them know why they are wrong and how they are going to do to correct them, rather than simply punish them. For most students, a good teacher is also a helper who can lift them to new heig hts. Just like an old saying goes, " GIVE ME A FISH AND I EAT FOR A DAY, T EACH ME TO FISH AND I EAT FOR A LIFE TIME". This must be a philosophy of every good teacher.3. FriendsA good friend should have the following personalities like trustworthy, helpful and positive. First of all, a trustworthy person is someone whom I can rely on especi ally when I am in difficulty; he/she will be just a phone-call away to get me out of trouble. Secondly, he/she must be someone who can give me some suggestions when I lose my heart. I clearly remember last time I had a bad experience on my job, I was so sad during those period of time and my friend Nana just sat besid es me and was such a good listener to support me and inspired me by saying tha t I deserved a second chance and never pushing myself too hard would be a better choice. After the nice conversation, I happened to realize I overcame those dark days with the encouragement she had given to me. Last, a good friend is someone who is positive. Though we always say “prepare for the worst and hope for the b est”, we seldom do it whe n we face up with the worse situation. At this time, a p ositive friend has this power to make us believe that it is absolutely right to obey the rule.In the end, I would like to quote a famous saying by Aristotle to end up my resp onse. “What is a friend? A single soul in two bodies.”4. LeaderA good leader should have these criteria:1. Have a vision.Effective leaders and their organizations have an agenda. A vision. A vision is a di rection—an attractive and attainable picture of the future. As a leader, if you don't know where you are going, you are irrelevant to your followers. With a vision yo u can inspire and lift individuals and groups to new heights—an important functio n of any leader.2. Seize opportunity.Look for experiences that are new and different. Develop relationships with people who are different from the people you ordinarily have relationships with, especiall y those that come from different backgrounds and age groups.3. Communication is key.Be accessible to everyone in the organization. Companies need to realize that the old model of the leaders sitting on top of the pyramid and the managers executin g orders does not work in today’s environment. The person at the top cannot be t he only leader. There have to be various people within the company acting in this role. There are many companies stuck in a rut where the managers are waiting t o be told what to do. That doesn’t work.4. Be proactive.Promote continuous exploration of yourself and other leaders within the organizati on. Be acc ountable for what you do. If there is an issue in the company, don’t sa y you didn’t know anything about it. Look at the organization and constantly ask what can be improved.2. Event1. Reading booksWhen I have time, I read books. My favorite book is the Old Man and the Sea w hich is written by Ernest Hemingway, one of the greatest American writers. The b ook told us a story about an old man called Diego who did fishing in Cuba. Thou gh he came across lots of difficulties on the sea and came back without a single fish, he was optimistic and still held the hope. (Diego) is like a mirror which reflec ts what (Hemingway) wanted to tell all of us: Never give up and the final success will come right after the last try. I’ve stuck on that wisdom all the time ever sin ce I read this book for that story makes me believe there is no stronger thing eve r than a strong human belief.2. Listening to the musicMy favorite music is___, which is sung by___.The reasons why I love that song are based on the following aspects.First of all, it relaxes my mind.Second, I always have a greater efficiency after listening to music.Third, by listening to the music, I can learn something about the rhythm, which t eaches me how to balance complicated situation.Last, enjoying all kinds of music, like rock n roll, punk or classic, I come to visit different world and learn how to appreciate arts.Music is a worldwide language without any translation, by listening to the music; we can share our emotions with different people around the world.3. Sports: 理由(雷同音乐)1.It relaxes my mind.2.I have a greater efficiency on study after the outdoor activities.3.Outdoor activities offer me not only more fresh air but also the chance toembrace the nature.4.I also meet some new friends when I am doing some activities, like playing basketball.4. Spring Festival:In my country, the most impressive/memorable/popular/favorite/social celebration i s Spring Festival, which is also called Chinese Lunar New Year.On Spring Festival Eve, we Chinese people usually do a thorough cleaning for thei r houses to clean up all the ill-fortunes may have been in the family and make th e way for the incoming good luck. In the evening, family members get together co ming back from everywhere, make Jiaozi, dumplings boiled in the water, sit aroun d the table, toast to each other, wish everybody good luck and health. After the fe ast, usually in the midnight, children will gather around to play fireworks to lightup the sky. During the whole night, we usually stay up and make every light in o ur house on. The next morning, people will greet their relatives and friends usuall y face to face. When you eat rice glue ball, called yuanxiao in China, it means yo u come to the end of this great new year celebration.Spring Festival means the whole world to Chinese people and we all consider it a chance for our family members reunion and gather best wishes for the coming ye ar together.5. My most embarrassing moment:The most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to me in school was when I was walking along the sidewalk back to school from getting some lunch. My eye caught a beautiful car and I lost sight of where I was going. Next thing I knew, B ANG, I walked straight into a pole, hitting my whole head on it. I fell on the gro und and my friends just laughed. Even though it was very embarrassing, it made our day 'cause we will never forget it. The days go by; I will still laugh as long a s I remember it. But I don’t care about it anymore, sometimes, the embarrassing t hing just puts smile on other people’s faces.6. The most difficult moment:The most difficult moment that I’ve ever had was when I prepared for the IBT. It became so hard for me since I’d never had a c hance to talk in English for quite a long time. I could barely open my mouth; let alone, how to cover the whole tes t within the time limitation. I was rather upset and almost lost my heart. My frie nd Tom/Mary saw me one day and he/she inspired me by saying that if I couldn’t overcome that task, how could I survive in the States and make my dream come true. All of a sudden, I realized how small this task would be in the whole proce ss of making my dream come true. And he/she suggested that I should make a w ell-organized plan to divide my goal into several little parts, which are attractive a nd attainable. And just like that, for the first time, I thought it was not that hard and I gradually had a faith in conquering this. Day by day, the more I practiced, the more confidence I gained.7. Ambition:I have always had a burning ambition to be a psychotherapist. I want to help peo ple solve their emotional problems, recover from mental illnesses, and regain their self-confidence. An increasing number of people, under so much pressure at work, have been deeply depressed in recent years. Therefore, the role of a psychotherap ist in keeping our society strong and healthy is getting more and more important. Being a highly self-motivated person, I feel confident about my ability to make m y dream come true. As the well-known saying goes, "Where there's a will, there's a way." I believe that I will become an outstanding psychotherapist some day.8. Chances for the Volunteer for 2008 OlympicsOr Shanghai Expo:IF I’d ever had a chance to do something that I wish for, I would like to be a vo lunteer for Olympics held in China in 2008. First of all, it is a great honor to be part of this opportunity coming once or never. I can put my English fully into us e. Being an interpreter, I can not only provide our foreign people the convenience in life but also let them know more about China. I am not saying that I want to wipe out some cultural barriers with my little effort; I am saying that I want to spare no effort to contribute to this great banquet.3. Place1. Places of Interest/Attractions= Description:If I’d had a chance to visit a place I’ve never been to, I would like to go to Impe rial Palace, which is also called Forbidden City in Beijing, the capital of China. In the heart of Beijing, it is the largest and most complete imperial palace and an cient building complex in China, and the world at large. Its construction began in 1406 and was completed 14 years later, having a history so far of some 580 years. Twenty-four emperors from the Ming and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties lived and ru led China from there. Most of the buildings in the Forbidden City were rebuilt ma ny times, although they maintained the original architectural style. The reasons why I love there so much are based on the following aspects.First of all, the ancient buildings record the history path to tell us the legends of our ancestors, especially good for our young people to get familiar with our past. Furthermore, they are the symbols of Chinese traditional and rich culture.Last, they are standing there to make us understand our past; When we are facin g the past, what we must do is to absorb the essence and discard the dregs.2. Restaurants and Café:If I had to say what features of restaurant and caféI cared most, I would conside r them from the following three angles.First of all, the food there must be very delicious and nutritious. I like something pretty from appearance and tasty from inside. It is better to taste it like my mom’s cuisine because it makes me feel I am the happiest in the world. Like hotpot. I feel good when I am having it.Second, the service there must be very considerate, which means, the waiters and waitresses there must be very nice and patient.Last, the atmosphere there must be very comfortable. Like the sofa there makes m e feel at home and I can sit there for a whole day without tiredness. There better has some light music and quiet surroundings because I usually want to have a ni ce conversation with my friends. Those aspects I’ve mentioned above are the standards I care when I choose to go to a restaurant.3. Favorite Room=description:My favorite room is my living room. It’s rectangular with the door on the left side of the south wall. In the wall opposite the door is a picture window. Below the window is a sofa. A rectangular coffee table is in front of sofa. Facing the sofa ar e two armchairs. An abstract painting is on the west wall. This bright and unclutt ered room is my best place to hide from outside world to make me relax, think fr eely, and live comfortably.4. Object:1. Internet:One of the most important inventions in the past 100 years, for me, is the intern et and it has greatly changed our life from the following benefits it has brought to our life.First of all, we have emails, the innovative way of writing letters because of the in ternet. With emails, we don’t have to go to the post office to buy some envelopes and stamps to send letters. All we have to do is just to click on th e “send’ butto n and in no minute, it may help us send 10 mails at one time. What is more, wecan not only send the content we want to say to our friends but also attach the pictures, music and even video to the email if we want to share them with friend s.Second, with internet, we have MSN to take place international phone-call, which means we save not only money but time. If you have a camera, you can see the f aces of your friends.Other two points:1.Online shopping, like buying books on 2.E-business, an innovative way of doing business; it provides another platform of trading goods with cheaper cost on place and a“win-win” solution for both buyers and sellers, like 2. Poem:Among novel, magazine and poem, I like poem best. I love poem the first time I read a poem called “Auguries of Innocence” by William Blake; it is read like “To s ee a world in a grain of sand and a heaven in a wild flower, hold infinity in the palm of your hand and eternity in an hour.” I lov e it firstly because it tells a prof ound meaning within such a few words, which teaches me how to write concisely. Furthermore, every poem has its own rhythm inside of it. Learning about rhythm does so great to my future because it tells me how to see the beauty. Last, poem is one form of arts, and I can learn how to appreciate arts.3. Musicals:Among drama, comedy and musicals, I prefer musicals because of the following as pects. First and foremost, I can learn how to sing some English songs. I clearly re membered the first time I saw a musical called “the Sound of Music”, I was so cr azy about it. Especially, when I was hearing the famous song, “Do-Re-Mi”, I could n’t help learning to sing it right away with such a melody. Furthermore, since mu sicals are composed of four elements, which are music, songs, spoken dialogue and dance. I can not only learn those beautiful songs, but also learn the foreign cultu re by understanding those spoken dialogues. The cozy plots teach me that for a fa mily, the most important thing is to take care of every family member with all res pect and love. Last, inspired by that great musical, I happen to love seeing musica ls, which offers me a great path to get close to arts.4. Transformation:When it comes to the most efficient transportation, I would like to say the subwa y with the following aspects. First of all, unlike automobile, subway never costs to o much oil so that it won’t cause heavy air pollution to the city; and if there is t he decreasing air pollution, it will ease the severe global warming to some extent. Besides, it is faster than driving a car since there will be no traffic jam at all. Wit h the time saved, we can have a nice breakfast and even feel fresh after we arrive at our office every morning. And since there is no traffic jam, it will decrease th e accide nts and numbers of people’s dying from the car crash.5. City (Integrated):Friend, places of interests, restaurant and café。
