Unit 9 Why do we need forests?
If people cut down forests, many trees and other plants will disappear forever. Many scientists believe this will change the temperature of the whole world. The ice in the north will start to become water. Sea level will rise. There will be more pollution in the air and the temperature will rise too.

People must have oxygen. If we don’t have enough oxygen, we won't be able to breathe. So where does oxygen come from? Well, a lot of oxygen comes from trees in the forests. The Amazon rain forest is the largest rain forest in the world. It gives us half of the oxygen we need.
